Worst Bank Ever!
August 14, 2020

Bank of America is the worst bank I have ever dealt with. I was with them for 4 years until I had enough. Their customer service online, on the phone and in the branch is horrible. I closed my account today and I am going to Chase. BoA doesn't care about the small guy. I had $7K in my checking. Maybe if I had $700K they would handle my account better. Fir 2 weeks I have had issues with my account. Yesterday I spent over 2 hours on the phone and the ultimate answer was that I needed to go into a branch. I searched hard and found one open only for them to tell me that I had to call the 800 number. Then and there I chose to close my account. Not one employee tried to keep my business. Stay away from this bank.

I am a loyal BofA client--- have been ever since I left the nest and went to college many years ago. Make all my payments on time for my credit card- never spend more than I can pay off right away- and have been a"Preferred Rewards" client for most of my time. Opened up a HELOC- then with low interest rates am refinancing my home loan with another bank. New bank is fantastic- always answering when I call- calling me often to check on things- and they go to ask BofA to subordinate- that is when all hell breaks lose. I've gone into local branches multiple times- asked for help- no one can help. They can't even reach their own subordination team- had one of the admin on hold for HOURS before he called me back to say he got nowhere. They are so big they cannot even reach their own departments on special associate's lines. Mobile banking- fantastic- but everything else is crap. Now I'm working to get my subordination fee back as they have done nothing to help me get this resolved- and while the local branch staff have said they will refund the $250- they have to do it through the subordination staff- who, you guessed it, just called and told me it is a nonrefundable fee... HERE I GO AGAIN back to the local branch.

I would give a *0 if possible. Wife was penalized for being responsible. 20 year customer, started with $4k limit, wife worked hard over 20 years to improve credit to just a couple points from perfect and BOA had raised limit to $24k. They just cancelled her account for inactivity with No warning letter, No email, No notice at all. Most companies give a warning letter to allow you make sure it doesnt get cancelled. Now this will affect her credit score she worked years to improve. Debt to income ratio. No help what so ever from customer service. I will be writing bad reviews on BOA often to make sure potential customers see how they penalize their responsible customers and maybe to get customers to drop BOA. Penalized for being responsible is ridiculous, we would have charged thousands to keep that active but no notice, no nothing... just cancelled. Terrible job BOA, shame on you. I hope you lose many customers from all the reviews your about to receive from us. Don't use BOA. Go to Bank of Oz (great bank). Shame on you Bank of America! Penalizing a 20 year customer for being responsible with their finances. Geeze!

Covid19 excuse
June 18, 2020

Bank of america shortened their offices hours drastically recently; They argue that it is in accordance with the CDC recommendations to prevent the spread of the covid19. This results in long lines inside the bank 20 people on average; I don't understand the logic... It would make more sense to extend the workday not to reduce it.
Sounds like a good excuse to cut hours.

In my City, BofA has shorten hours of operation, 10-4, and most branches not open on Wednesday. Does banking stop on Wednesday? All other businesses are back open after Covid but sadly BofA is leaving us behind. I probably will have to leave BofA behind.

Their policies and procedures prevent them from conducting good business! Their employees and management are not polite or professional! Stay away from this bank to avoid problems and aggravation!

I didn't pay my credit card for 3 weeks - a card I had for 11 years and they closed it without notifying me. In the 11 years I had the card I never missed a payment - missed a payment in January, spoke to people at Bank of America who told me it was not a problem, and then they closed my account in February without notifying me. When I paid the card off in full soon after, it just disappeared from my account and when I called they finally told me it had been closed and there was nothing they could do. They are not a bank for the people by any means. I've been in good standing with them for 11 years both in my checking account & credit card but have definitely had to dispute some random fees throughout the years, and more. I've never liked being with Bank of America so I guess here's my out. Definitely wouldn't recommend for anyone.

Gluttonous liars
April 2, 2020

My wallet was stolen, I reported it as soon as I noticed and was given credit. It was denied (as always from what I've discovered reading reviews) so I appealed. Was told that you'd be getting in contact and the reveal of credit wouldn't go through until the appeal was decided. That was the 24th.

I got laid off due to a NATIONAL DISASTER. You know the one that your vending over backwards to look like your helping out the little guy deferring mortgages and all that jazz? Yeah that one. I have 5 sons. Find out today that with no warning (and definitely NO contact with me!) The appeal had been denied and you KNOWINGLY threw my account into the red by reversing it, you KNEW there wasn't anything in there AMD you did it anyway!

Ok, I screwed up, I completely forgot I had my pin written down (reason for denial) I'll take it as a hard lesson learned, I even said that. But to tell me that there's nothing you can do is BEYOND the pale! Your talking the last check im getting and have absolutely no shame in it. You literally took food from my kids mouths in lieu of doing ANY investigative work. Your company acted like you were doing me a huge favor by reversing some overdraft fees, fees that wouldn't have occurred IF DUE DILIGENCE had been done.

I immediately call to either be transferred or on hold for almost 2 hours before being told that your taking my last check. That's it, you can't do anything.

But I can. I am going to make sure this treatment of one of the people your supposedly in such support of is everywhere, Google, Facebook, Yahoo, Instagram heck, I'll even figure out Twitter, as a warning to others of exactly what kind of disgusting business practices you condone. My family is already closing all accounts with you and im going to make sure that while you may have a newly single mother's little paycheck it's going to cost you in lost interest in years to come. Now I got to ho figure out how to feed 5 boys on 100 bucks. Thanks for that, cause this mess wasn't hard enough.

It seems like every time I call them about an issue related to my checking account there is at least a one hour wait time. Sometimes it takes me hours to get thru to the person who can help me.
Today I called about an issue related to a money transfer to another bank. I informed them that this was my reason for calling. Yet they had someone call me back who was not qualified to help with money transfer issues. Her name was Jaclyn from Arkansas. She was rude. Before I could finish describing my reason for calling, she had transferred me to the wire transfers department and I had to go thru the automated system but even though I did everything right in answering their questions it redirected me back to square one, to the initial main menu which then asked me for my reason for calling. So I am back at the beginning starting from scratch and have been waiting for a call back now for another hour. So It's now been two hours and my issue has not been heard.

I will be testing other banks to find better phone support. The slow wait times has been an issue with this bank for years. I have been banking with BOA for decades and I believe the customer support has gotten worse in the last 5 years. All I want is a bank that can help me via phone with any issue within 20 minutes. Is that too much to ask? Can BOA not afford to make their phone support decent?

Horrible Responses
March 25, 2020

I submitted a review that excoriated the customer service response to current BOA customers. The credit card that I have with them has been placed in file 57(meaning never to be used again)! I had one simple issue that no one at the branch level was able to address adequately; when I then telephoned the bank about this issue and others, no one was willing to address the issue other than to tell me to call credit card services, which is what I did. I received an email from someone called a Response Specialist. Ironically, 4 calls and voicemails later and after a week; the gentleman who sent me the email from BOA has never responded. Im fine with it because I don't really need to be associated with a bank card that has no way of addressing important issues with its service. I inadvertenly overpaid and yet BOA has charged me; yet, the balance is more than 100 dollars overpaid. I don't know how I made the mistake but I've tried to get them to issue a refund to me which they claim is on its way. I've been waiting. On top of this, I was told that the "system" will continue to charge me 25.00 a month because i have a designated amount (which I do not; I only have my acct to autopay for the occasional "slip up" that can happen). What I do not like is the fact that any card company would charge AND deduct from my bank account on file a standard amount of money each month? WtF? How do they stay in business. I made sure, at least, that they STOP doing that and send me my refund immediately as well. I'm done; unprofessional, unscrupulous and people who are clueless too.

Blackmailed me
March 16, 2020

Blackmailed me. I consider them Bank of America Credit Department a criminal. Enjoyed high interest for more than 2 years. When I paid the full amount.

A woman in the credit department said you have so many other credits can balance, I have to shout down your credit card or lower your interest. Then lower the credit limit by 80%.

Are you kidding when you didn't shout down my credit card earlier? Ohh yes, Bank of America was enjoying my blood earning money high interest.

I will never recommend Bank for America to anyone in a million years. They are thugs. They put my running business in Jeopardy.

Imagine, you are working hard to pay the dues, and regardless you have a normal life or not, Bank of America enjoy your interest and closed your account or lower the credit limit and destroy your business.

Shame!

Within three days of receiving my debit card I went and deposited $XXX amount of money. Two days after the deposit was mad I was told my account had been closed and I needed to wait 7-10 business days for a cashiers check in order to receive my funds. What about the direct deposit that is supposed to hit my account in a day or two? "Well it'll probably be rejected and you'll have to contact them". Once again that is an inconvenience for me! Why should I have to contact them when my account was closed without proper notice only two days after making a deposit.

There were three customers who tried to cash in a check, but the lady, I think her name is Jenice is being prejudice and racist towards different race and won't do it for them. Maybe I should change a different bank that shows great customer service and tolerance. Bank of America is Racist.

We made our normal online payment to our credit card. We then a few days later charged a small amount on that card and it was declined! We then called Bank of America to see what happened and get the situation resolved. So why am I giving this review? Their website made the payment to one of our accounts that had been canceled since 1998, 5 years that account had been closed! I called and they told me that they would fix the problem, I said great. But wait, they then said it would take 2 months to get our money back so we could make the payment or, would you transfer that amount out of our closed account and in just within1 or 2 days, get this fixed and back to our current credit card account. You would think they would say; "certainly sir, we'll get right on that and should all be fixed in the next business day. But no, they did not say that! I had the first person I talked with over the same call, then Had to end up insisting to be transfered to get to a supervisor, and then I had to insist even harder to get a manager so we could fix this fast. In the end I could not get them to budge, they would not do it so now for the next 2 months they get the use of my money, and it was a good size amount of money, they get to put it in their pot and make money with our money! It's wrong that they treated me this way whether a new customer to them or since 1995 like us. We are looking to move our account to a credit Union once this is fixed!

STAY AWAY FROM BANK OF AMERICA! Charging you for overdraft fee for 5 times in a single night for $35 each. You don't receive any warning when you are charged overdraft for the first time because they make it when you sleep at night. How $#*!y! Other banks gives you couple days to make deposit if your balance goes negative, they do not charge you overdraft fee! But boa does very badly. Always transactions are reflecting days later, orders are changing so you can never track properly! I called them for refund, at least for partially refund but even supervisor rejected, not fair!
Another thing; you pay your credit card, it is withdrawn from your checking account sooner but you can NOT see available in your credit card accounts for DAYS! This bank sucks, not friendly, trying to put you worse position, without warnings and helps! I have lot more to say!

I have been BOA customer for many years. I hold multiple accounts with this bank and I have platinum status.
Recently there was a "business decision" made on the part of the bank where they have decided to hold payroll checks for 2 weeks, from the same place I have been depositing them from for the past 3 years.
If this is now a standard practice with BOA, I plan to shut down all of my accounts and move my business elsewhere.
