I have my business and personal accounts with BoFA. I will be cancelling both accounts next week. It started with fees and foreign exchange rate. Their foreign exchange rate is horrible, plus they whack you with a fee. If you deposit a check, even in state bank checks they will put a hold on funds for one week, not good for the cash flow. They constantly decline transactions on debit cards and it takes multiple phone calls to fraud department to have it turned back on. It will take up to 24 hours for the card to work again. Other credit card companies text you and have it back on in minutes. Some transactions are with merchants I use often like Whole Foods. Forget about trying to reach customer service if your request does not fall within one of the categories listed. And often when I call about transactions declined, I am put on hold and after half an hour they tell me there is no one o take the call and disconnect me. Long winded I know, but my recommendation is to stay away from this bank.
I needed to settle a problem regarding my online banking account on their platform. It's been a month and havent heard from them yet. I understand that the company is busy but come on!
Their online service is fast enough and I don't have any issues with my monthly withdrawals from MintonBlock digital assets investment plan. Seamless and recommended.
They are up to two months late posting payments and when you call, after waiting untold minutes you get a well that is the credit bureau not staying up to date. Really-all three when all other accounts are up to date. They advertise great cash back but life with them is so miserable I had to dump their charge card.
AFTER SPENDING HOURS W/ CUSTOMER SER TRYING TO GET NEW FEES WAIVED, UNSUCCESSFUL, ONLY TO HAVE THE PHONE REP, DISAPPEAR FROM THE CALL. PERFECT BANK FOR A RETIRED PERSON WITH NO HOBBIES, ALL YOUR NEW FOUND TIME WILL BE SPENT TRYING TO TRACK ALL THE CHARGES, FEES AND UNDERSTANDING THE STATEMENT (WHICH YOU MUST READ THOROUGHLY EVERY MONTH).
This is the worst merchant to use for merchant services. Horrible service. Horrible integrity. Either believe the review or learn for yourself.
I am happy to give them this sincere review. I like this app. Great online banking! They are well trained professionals!
Horrible customer service! Even though I am a Preferred Member, there was no real person that I can reach out to when I have an issue with my purchases. Their automated phone service is disgusting and outdated. The machine seemed to be deaf and does not understand it when I say "customer service". I can not easily find the phone number to call on their customer portal, I had to Google "how to speak to a real person BOA". The whole process sucks and wasted half an hour of my time. If you treat your customers like this no one will want to bank with you. Fix your outdated website, I cannot easily set up AutoPay without literally calling someone about what to do. Try setting up AutoPay yourself and you will see what I mean.
TL; DR: NO PHONE NUMBER LISTED IN CUSTOMER PORTAL!
Super long wait times and they transfer you endlessly... cannot get support

Cant take an automatic payment on time, cant take just 1 authorized payment ( they'll take 2 without authorization) cant refund the additional payment they take without authorization in a timely manner. They should start circus because they're nothing but clowns
I have been trying for 3 months now to resolve an issue with a HELOC. An issue that did not happen on my end, but when BOA's systems changed over. They reported me to the credit agencies (my first EVER) Destroyed me credit score. The one person who actually DID spend time with me (almost 3 months ago) couldn't figure it out.
Fast forward 3 months, I cannot access my account - I can't even pay off because nobody can give me an accurate amount. Every time I log in it gives me a different small amount like $. 38, or $1.00.
I have sent messages through the website with no answer, I have called every customer service number I can find. I have waited for close to 2hs each time I call. I eventually get plugged into a voice mailbox that is full, then the call is dropped. I have even called the local branches and they told me 'They can't help me."
There is literally nobody that will help! I am frustrated beyond explanation. I am so disappointed that I even started banking with this bank.
As I type this I have been on hold for 43 minutes. Shame on you BOA! You will NEVER get business from me again!
I just recently moved to Nebraska from New York, I opened due to the COVID I lost my job, and life, So I moved to Nebraska with my grandchildren and son who serves in the United States Air Force to get back on my feet. I found a work from home job, in order for me to get paid I had to have direct deposit so I opened an account online with Bank Of America. My first check went direct deposit. When I signed into my account I accidently put in the wrong code, they locked out and told me to call a number. When I called the number they told me that they believed that there was some fraud going on and I needed to go into the branch and show identity. Well unfortunately there are no branches close to were I live, so I can't come into the branch. I explained to them the whole situation and told them that I needed my money so I can live. And even broke down and cried. I don't at this point have any money and am broke. I need my money and my first check got deposited in this account at BOA. THEY TOLD ME I'M NOT WHO I AM AND CLOSED MY ACCOUNT and said they'll mail me a check. What am I to do for 10 days waiting for that check to come in the mail. I need gas to go cash it. Wtf. Bad business so now because they think I'm a fraud I have to wait for them to send me my hard working money. It's not okay.
I made an application to receive a credit card and the banker who attended me threw my credit several times for the same card, I called the credit bureau to claim the inquiries and they told me that it had to be the bank that made the request, automatically I called the bank and the lady who attended me told me that I had to wait 2 to 3 months for them to send me a letter, when they are sending you letters every day for pleasure and when it was a job that the institution did wrong,
You can't get a single person on the phone that is actually a bank employee. They try to force their online problem solving tools. I want to talk to a person. Oh, you can schedule an appt... if there is appt. Available ( a week out!) Just stinkin ridiculous that someone at the bank can't take a call.
ID ADVISE YOU NOT TO BANK WITH BANK OF AMERICA. Save yourself the a headache and go somewhere else.
I had deposited my check through the atm as I do every week after I looked at my receipt it said a hold had been placed on my check NO not for a few days for two weeks so I called one person said oh they couldn't validate the check just call the bank it's drawn on if they validate it the hold should be removed call nothing wrong with account as I am the payroll person for that company anyway and already new this so I call again get another person oh no doesn't work that way it goes through a process and comes back to us and we can't remove the hold I said I've been depositing checks from this company for 7 years you have never had a problem now all of a sudden you flag one and I have to wait two weeks my account wasn't negative there was money in there why would this be no one could give a straight answer other than oh I'm sorry I can't do anything about it I said if it was your money you had two kids and had bills to pay I'm sure you would find a way absolutely worse service and not a single person had the same answer I talked to 3 people I could understand if it was a personal check but a payroll check and to put a hold on it from the 12 to the 23 is a little rediculous
I have been a long term good standing BOA customer for many years. I opened a checking, savings, business, and had 3 credit cards with them. In the last 6 months (during the corona pandemic) they went ahead and cancelled all my credit cards. They sent me a letter listing several generic reasons why they made the decision to close my credit cards. I was really upset after they closed my last one and decided to call they and none of the reps knew what to tell me so they kept transferring me around. I finally spoke to a Supervisor and explained my situation and told him that I either needed a valid reason why my cards were cancelled or needed them to reopen one of my cards. The "Supervisor" very rudely told me that they have the right to close my account for whatever reason and that they will not be reopening any of my accounts. This is the way BOA treats their customers especially in a time were we need all the financial support we can get. I am completely dissapointed with BOA and will be closing the rest of my accounts and opening with another bank asap.
I was on hold for 1 hour and 20 minutes when I finally hung up! I repeat... their customer service is horrible! Do not use BOA!
Where do I even start? It took over a month to receive my card but never received my pin. Then I go deposit my check and the teller informed me there will be a two day hold. I'm like okay but then I receive an email that it will take 12 days for my check to be released. Customer service was no help. This bank is just straight ridiculous and I will definitely be moving along.
I called the bank before I went and kept getting a message all reps are busy. So I went and picked up my 80 year old dad and we drove to the bank on Zang in Dallas which is definitely NOT a hop-skip-or jump. All my dad wanted to do was get some thing out of his Safe Deposit box. When we got there there it was 30 min before closing. The guy told us he did not have time because he was already working with someone and that we needed to make an appointment. This was on a Friday and they offered 2 appts times for the following Monday which did not work for me. MONDAY I tried calling the branch to make an appt and kept getting the same message I received on Friday that all reps were busy. I then called the the main customer serv $ 432- 1000 and waited and waited. A person finally came on the phone a try tried assisting me in contacting branch to set up an appointment. After waiting for a long time, the rep said someone would be calling me back from the branch. Well 2 days later and I still have not heard anything. I keep calling but still getting the same message
I have been trying to call Bank of America on my lunch break for 4 months and have never been able to speak with a human being about my account. I have helpd for an hour 75 times! They dont offer the option to leave a message to have thmn return a call. How can any company operate like this? They people in charge should be fired and put in jail until the problem is solved. This is the WORST SERVICE I have ever encountereed with any company of any size in any industry in my 59 years on this planet. I encourage you to withdraw your moeny and to do buniness with any other bank. Bank of America absolutely SUCKS!
