I received an e-mail from Badoo saying... You have Badoo Premium!

Congratulations, you have now achieved a special status on Badoo with Badoo Premium subscription!
We have charged 65.99 to your iDeal account.

So I wrote them an e-mail saying that I never gave them permission to do this. This was their reply:

Hello,

Thank you for contacting us.

Since you previously added your payment details to your profile, you were able to purchase Badoo Premium with our one-click method. As a courtesy, we have now removed your payment details from your account to prevent this method being used in the future.

Unfortunately, according to our Terms and Conditions, this type of service is non-refundable.

I called my bank (I live in the Netherlands), they said I can cancel any payment, get my money back from any subscription within 90 days and block their account. And I can do it all by myself online with my bank account.

Badoo keeps you busy for nothing, but constantly asks for your money. The fun-seeking women rather do not answer, a concise answer remains the exception. I find in real life quick a connection and am with 6'3, robust and sporty not really unattractive. It goes apparently here, which is here in the reviews is also confirmed, only about money and rip off without quid pro quo.

I registered badoo after using many other dating networks. After using it for a few months, trying with different styles of clothing, pictures etc, after purchase credits and all extras I can clearly define that more than 90% of the profiles are fake. Even all the approaches I've made texting on different languages, locations and styles I don't get single response from the "cool girls". Its kinda sad, that they pump the website with good looking people just to make you feel you have good chances after you purchase all the extras. Even I don't get messages from matches which is wired, I have written more than 3k profiles and get exactly 5 answers. You make the math. Have tried different approaches which almost always work on other social networks. IRL I have a lot of success, as I think im not just an average dude, but I have more than very good income, and I'm really sporty and good looking so saying you are fat ugly poor guy that is the reason why you don't get responses is very wrong.
Conclusion, don't waste time and money. But mostly time, because time is money :D

This company can be sumarized in one word - scummy

Lets forget about the fake profiles and all the other stuff that should make you get premium etc.

Lets talk about the payment system.
I am unaware about purchasing anything in this app, yet it had my credit card details (now granted, i might be wrong, but i know for sure that i did not save the details)

The whole payment system is designed around the idea of user buying the most expensive service in error. (I know badoo, dont bother, its designed to make purchases more convenient to the user)

When selecting any premium service, it automaticly selects lifetime premium account for roughly 100 euros with big green button in the middle - proceed. If you click it in mistake, well... say goodbye to your money as the app has one click payment set up.

Requesting an refund is pointless even though consumer has right to a refund of digital service within 14 days of purchase. They claim that as you recieve the benefits of the premium right away, you lose the right to a refund. This would not stand in court and i am starting to think that collective lawsuit is in order as this happens way to often to a lot of people.

Even if this payment was not performed by you, without your presence or consent (somebody gets a hold of your phone for example) this company just ignores it and refuses to refund you anything. I have reported this to their support staff 3 times and it was ignored every single time. This is once again, illegal.

The only way for you to get a refund, is to go to your bank directly and file a refund request, but you can do that only in case that this payment was not done by you as in my case.

If you pay for a premium membership, thinking you can take up the option to cancel within 14 days and get a refund, as clearly stated in Badoo's Terms and Conditions, well, think again! According to their customer service people, if you pay for a premium service and then access the site, you are immediately considered to have "downloaded" (their phrase) and used premium content and you are not eligible for a refund at all. So essentially, you can never get a refund. Highly misleading, and questionable on the legal aspects, but just be warned. Once you pay for something, that's it...

Wanted to buy a few credits and the site stole 70EUR from me for a 180 day membership that was actually adverised as "14 days free". The site is filled with buttons that look like they will just take you to another menu, but instead they immediately deduct credits or even money from your paypal if you ever made a purchase with it earlier. I don't know how many actual people are up there, but this site is legitimately dangerous. I'd advise everyone to stay away from it.

Please refund back my $50(Singapore Dollar) as i didn't subscribed for premium. I've just checked my e-mail and poof, it says i'm a premium member now. WTH?! I did not do such thing... please get back to me as i want a refund and i really need the cash... and the Badoo has get back to me about the same crap of non-refundable policy that everyone that has my problem gets...

UPDATE:- looks like they won't refund me... BS. Ah whatever... ya'll stay away from Badoo or just use it carefully... they can be sneaky in their f'n app in taking your money away from you from their BS "One-whatever" trick...

On following a notification after bumping into somebody a pop up window offering a lifetime premium popped up, I hit the hole button on my phone to exit and inadvertently purchased premium for £99. I dont want this and cant afford this. I am single father to a disabled child and this is a lot of money for me.

Have tried speaking to the customer services to explain but they refuse to refund despite the terms and conditions giving the right to cancel within 14 days.

Awful service, awful app. Not human at all when it comes to dealing with people and not following my consumer rights.

Having tried all the major dating sites over the years, I can safely say that Badoo is the worst I've ever encountered. It's normal on the other 'swipe right/left' sites to receive 5-15 'matches' each day for a relatively average man; on Badoo I've received one in 14 days, and I'm not convinced she's even a real person. I think the issue is country-specific; Badoo has almost no active UK users, so most of the potential matches you are shown have been there long enough to be rated tens of thousands of times over the course of several years. They're no longer active, yet it pretends they are.

Badoo is also a scam site. Don't give them any card details; I decided to try out the £4.99 premium for a week, and literally the next click they had taken an extra £44.99 out of my account to buy credits (credits are required to do almost anything on Badoo - it's very money-grabbing). They do this by automatically signing you up to recurring billing, without actually telling you they've done so; one feature of recurring billing is 'auto top-up' when you fall below 200 credits. Because I had never bought any before, it instantly 'topped up' my balance. I recovered the money but it took several days. Even with premium, you don't get any of the features you'd get with the premium version of any other site.

I don't really understand why anyone would use Badoo. It has no unique functions or features, everything costs a small fortune and the site is set up to scam money out of people (I don't seem to be the only one - check dozens of other reviewers from whom Badoo has taken money without permission). They'll mislead you at every turn. At once point it claimed to have more members from my town than there are residents in my town.

Worst dating site I've encountered. I assume people from other countries have more joy, but don't waste your time or money in the UK.
