I am sorry I signed up. Huge waste of money. No help just continue charging me. Beware! I am looking for an alternative service.
I tried a free trial book... With Alexa the commands to go to a chapter number never,,, not even one time were obeyed... I would say "alexa go to chapter 28" (because I had fallen asleep... it would go to chapter 22 or who knows where? Did NOT even SAY! Just unforgivable CRAAPPP program! And they want a bunch of bucks a year to RENT THAT? WHY in the world do people put up with it? JUNK! SHOULD be free with Amazon or at least you buy and own the program ONE TIME PRICE... WHAT THE HELL is with a monthly? Scam RIP OFF
I received a 6 months subscription as a Christmas gift. Although I tried many times to maneuver the site i was always unable to do so. Requesting help was futile and left me angry every time I attempted it. Dont buy this don't give it as a gift and don't accept it as a gift.
I tried audible for one month almost 3 years ago. I cancelled my one-month but continued getting charged month after month after month. I cancelled on Amazon, I called Audible to cancel, I sent emails to cancel. I even went to the point of cancelling a debit card so they could not charge my account. Unfortunately, as soon as I made a purchase on Amazon, their Audible department linked up to that card and again began to charge me a monthly fee. After multiple calls and complaints, I FINALLY was able to get someone to offer me a refund for 15 months worth of charges. I felt I'd accept that and move on. Of course, they ended up only refunding 8 months and have after multiple contacts again with Audible, they are trying to make me jump through hoops to get the remaining that are owed to me. We are talking hours and hours of me reaching out to them for just over a $100 they owe me. It's no longer about the money, but the ethics and doing what's right by the customer. This is my first and only review of any product/company. It takes a lot to get me going and in this case, it's just downright illegal and crooked to continually charge someone's bank account without their permission. Even more so when you've reached out to them multiple times to stop. I've received emails about legal action being taken against Audible for this exact reason. I've ignored them up until now. I will be more than happy to provide all the documentation I've gathered in my case.
For those of you considering Audible, I'd highly advise not signing up for any monthly service that is directly connected to your Amazon account.
Bezos bought a wonderful service and absolutely ruined it. I held my tongue when they moved purchases out of app, making the customer jump through hoops to save Bezos a little dough. However, somehow I recently managed to rope myself into some kind of membership' when I was trying to purchase a single title, and didn't notice at the time. I noticed this morning when looking at my CC statement and promptly canceled the membership to end the auto-charge, preferring to purchase single titles as needed. One would assume with all common sense that the credits one has purchased would be available for one to use, regardless of their membership' status; I paid for the fecking things, they're mine. NOPE, credits back to zero. (I skipped over the part where when you try to cancel you have to pay VERY close attention because they make you jump through several hoops to confirm, hoping you'll mistakenly exit the process and continue being charged). I called customer support, the lady says NOPE, you bought them, now they're gone, but I would be happy to replace them for you. Lol, yeah, no thanks, I'll contest the charge with my bank and just extricate myself from anything having to do with Audible, Amazon and Bezos.
I love audiobooks and after hearing that ITunes is closing down I figured I needed a different audiobook supplier. I thought it would be easy to join Audible.com... considering ITunes used Audible but it isn't. Perhaps because I tried to join via my mobile whilst I was on holidays complicated things.? I tried to download the free book but gave up and ended up buying it. But Audible took the free credit away from me anyways! Humph!
Why does joining have to be so complicated?
I have cancelled my membership for the time being but may well try to sign up again when I am less annoyed about it all. I will delete my bank account detail for fear funds will be taken out of my account when not suppose to as per the reviews I am reading.
I subscribed on the 6th of January this year. I downloaded a first audio book, did not really like the experience (I fall asleep when listening to someone read, I highly prefer active reading), and canceled my subscription. Six months later, I find out that they have kept charging me every month, without even notifying me. If you consider giving a try to Audible: don't. You will waste your time and money on this website.
I did not complete entering my details online but they still tried to take 84p from my account! Thankfully the bank noticed this as a fraudulent transaction. They start by taking a small amount and then increase it going forward. I agree that we are fooled into trusting the site as it is associated with Amazon. Vito Amazon I think until they take action. GET A JOB YOU SCUMBAGS!
[FRAUD]I would like to complain about the way Amazon has handled my bank card details and the consequences it has had on me. They have disclosed my private information to one of their subsidiaries, who's charged me $286 for a membership I had not subscribed to, on cards for which I had never provided them. I have let them know one of the cards is not active anymore, that I closed the account connected to it and moved abroad. Audible is claiming to have "a strict policy on refunds" and saying they will only issue a refund for the $197 they wrongfully charged me if I 'present an official letter from my bank in Brazil proving I did not get the money they claim to have refunded me'.
I am as far away from Brazil as they are at the moment. I live in England and cannot go to the bank and ask for that. Moreover, banks won't disclose information of that kind about a former client over the phone for security and privacy reasons. Audible is purposely trying to find a way to actually not fully refund me for the charges they have made.
I am attaching a few of the conversations I have had with them. Basically, Audible refuses to explain to me how they got to charge me, and Amazon is dismissive about what their actual policy for customer privacy is, and about why they leaked my private information to Audible without my consent and even after I explained I wasn't in brazil to receive the refund or go to the bank in person to get the proof that want that I didn't actually get that cash, they insisted on claiming they refunded most of the money there. I'd like this matter to be looked into seriously, as I don't know who else has had access to my cards' details, and I believe millions of other people might be affected by these fraudulent transactions in the US and worldwide.
I am at your entire disposal and would very much like that to be seriously looked into.
Best,
Lachesis
How the hell does Jeff Bezos allow Amazon to be associated with these thieves in plain sight? I only got as far as my email address and postcode before I smelled danger and exited the site, but then they somehow got my card details through Amazon and tried to steal from my account.- Fortunately, the security at the bank was on the ball- credit to Nationwide U. K. and smelt fraud and stopped my card and the transaction. I suggest all people conned by this company write to the Washington Post.
Don't waste your money on a subscription, almost all the books out there cost less than the cost of a single Audible credit. In other words audible credits are a rip-off and not the bargain they make them out to be. If you do decide on an audible book, they will unsuspectingly encourage you to use your more expensive credit than to pay the lower cost of just paying outright. If you're not paying attention and assuming that because they have a big name and are associated with a well known company like amazon that they can be trusted then you're exactly the target they are looking for. That's why so many people have been sooo disappointed, because so many have been unsuspectingly taken advantage of. So sad, and shame on you Audible! You know better! It's not like they weren't already making money hand over fist, but they had to be greedy and make it into a freaking scam. I'm so tired of companies like Audible taking advantage of the ignorant and preying on the weak. On top of all that nonsense, audible will steal your credits aka, steel your hard earned money right out of your account in broad daylight. That's right, after you've purchased and accumulated six credits because you can't find something to spend them on due to the fact that every Audible book costs less than the price that you have already spent on a credit (so why waste it), they will just take it from you, and you never get it back. Yes, that is stealing and deceptive.
So because I don't watch my charges on my card I never realized that I've been paying for this service for 7 months.: after I canceled! They will charge any card on your amazon account to keep the membership going and if you don't notice too bad so sad. Do NOT even sign up for a trial!
I have contacted them a 100 times to cancel my services, each time I am told the service has been cancelled and refunded. Nothing. Nada. The moment I attempted to buy a new book for listed price as a consumer - the subscription begins again. Would you believe this goes back to 2016... and here I am just got another charge on May 2019!
I just hung up after a new customer service supervisor Andrey B at their Costa Rica customer service center has agreed to refund me $456.02... going back to 2016. Let's see if that will happen. Plus I have deleted all my credit cards with Audible... hoping no more charges ever come thru again!
Unable to get the app to download to my phone and could not get to my library from my computer. Spent WAY too long on a chat with customer service, where I had to repeat the problem over and over, and if you don't check their questions or type fast enough, they cut you off and you have to start over. I went to audiobooks.com, had absolutely no problems, and their monthly charge is lower than audible's (not by much, but a dollar is a dollar).
My credit card gets debited without authorisation. I have to spend substantial time and effort to get my money back
This month same thing happened to my wife.
How does this CROOK COMPANY manage to do this?
I received a "Gift" with a code from a friend. The code did not work. I then had to spent over an hour with a hopeless customer service guy named "Will" and he kept sending me to all these pages, none which would work...
At the end of it, one hour of "bug fixing" for them, he wanted to have a phone conversation too! I just had to hang up in sheer frustration. It doesn't get worse than this.
Audible's customer service is awful. First of all, It take a long time for them to respond. And when they do, it takes about 15 emails for them to understand the issue. At the end you're at square one because they can't help you. They really do not take their customers seriously.
They don't even have a complaint department.
Overall very disappointing!
I found that I hardly used Audible so I decided to cancel it. On my phone, it said it had to be done at a desktop computer. Which I barely use so had to set it up especially for this. On my computer, it said that my password was wrong. At first I thought I'd made a mistake, but after I had used the "forgot password" button and gotten a link to make a new one, it kept saying it was the wrong password. Even though the new one was really simple and I made sure I had typed it correctly. Only when I went back to the main site to complain about this, was I suddenly logged in. And then the route to cancelling was actually different from what their own help site said. I hadn't really formed an opinion about Audible as I hadn't used it, but all these hurdles just to cancel a bog standard subscription feel really petty to me.
DO NOT TAKE UP THE FREE TRIAL. I DID, AND CANCELLED WITHIN 2 DAYS. I RECEIVED A CONFIRMATION OF CANCELLATION.
DESPITE THIS, A MONTH LATER, AUDIBLE STILL TAKES MONEY OFF MY CREDIT CARD. LIKE A BUNCH OF THIEVES,... YOU HAVE TO WATCH THEM!

Answer: Not not a clue but they refunded me all the money back they took out my back so alls good
