Incompetent
April 29, 2022

Horrible management. Attempt to port a number resulted in them blaming my old carrier and me for their incompetent. Trouble tickets ho unresolved, supervisors hangup on customers. Bad experience.

I chose Assurance because it's the only option in my state, you get a thin and very lightweight T-mobile phone. Not sure why we can't just use our existing cell phones and phone numbers for Lifeline, because the phone comes with a lot of robocalls, spam and phishing texts and it appears to be a preowned phone number, so I get creditors calling it everyday. There's no way to block them, you can only silence it. After a couple days you're weeding through all the spam texts and calls just to see any legitimate ones.

After experiencing that the first week I did some research and found that Assurance phones have a reputation of distributing phones with installed and unremoveable malwarebytes as well. I do my banking and keep my bankcards stored on my devices. I also use business apps that contain sensitive information. There's no way I'm doing any business on this phone, which makes the phone useless except for making personal calls and even that has to be censored. I don't even feel comfortable connecting the phone to my home network, so at 4.5 gigs a month the phone sits in airplane mode.

Call me paranoid, but when you're poor and life is hanging on a thin line here then it's just not worth it, a real gamble with security. If you can manage a $15 a month phone plan with Mint, go for it -- I do not work for Mint. If you can't do that and desperately need a phone, then just be really careful and godspeed

Horrible: looks like scam
April 18, 2022

Finaly after one in a half months of debate in After they sent me first defective phone I got their replacement phone which was also not working. Again I have been trying to make them to replace that defective phone for at least 2 months, calling them every week. Each time I called them they has been lied that they would send it to me write away, but they have never did so. I had to follow up with them at least 10 times. Finally they mention they they will send me new phone only when I return them this old phone. I asked them to sent me a shipping label. That arrived. They have sent me the empty box with shipping label for me to send the defective phone back to them. Otherwise they would charge me for that. I sent the phone back, but they still haven't sent me new phone. When I called again to see what is going on, they again lied that they sent me a package with a new phone ans shipping label, and asking me to write police report because phone lost. How could phone get lost if package was sealed, also how could get phone lost if during last conversation they said they going to only sent me shipping label, but not phone! That doesn't make sense. They have been lie to me until I lost the service since I was not able to use it for months waiting the new devise from them. Finaly I lost the lifetime line because I was not able to use it while I been fed by them to waiting for a phone which has never arrived.
If you have a chance to use other provider, please avoid them. They are scammers. I believe they are scamming the Goverment and receiving payments for the services from the Goverment, but they don't even have replacement phones to send. That's why they doing all this nonsense. I have been loosing hours with them on the phone, but no result. I have been trying to talk to their manager but agents are refusing to provide it. If you know where I can compline regarding this service, please share that information. It's been night mar for me for months

When you are told you are a value customer and you think you are going to be taken cared and are told that supervisor will put some $ on account mean while I wait for account to update. So $1 is enough to make calls with? So disappointing.

Customer service
April 11, 2022

This experience has been the worst ever. I just needed a replacement phone and their system was down they gave me excuses like it was my fault. Everytime you ask a we question they won't answer it at all, it's I'm sorry and change the conversation. I was hung up on and left on the line and no one returned to the phone. Supervisor jenny with a few others were useless. This agent told to get a top up card T-Mobile or wireless esurance, after purchasing card it was non refundable or had to call the told free to dispute. Also the price jump from 45 to 65 within and hour. I would not recommend to anyone. Also phone sent to me was refurbished and they tell you it's a new phone the screen flashing during call you have no idea who's calling. Need improvement not a satisfied customer.

They hire independent contractors to "sell" their phones and service, but then also contract out to marketing firms to do the same putting everyone in direct competition and making it more difficult for everyone.

I have a medical condition and I got the insurance wireless phone during the pandemic. All of the customer service reps are in the Philippines. These are the worst trained reps on the planet. All they do is talk and apologize incessantly but they never take care of a problem. They are inept and so horrifically incompetent that they've turned me into a cheap where I just cried on the floor. I don't understand how they even produce one iota of work. After I complain to a manager, I learned she was just as bad as the rep. After I spoke to her every single thing they said to me was a lie. They promised they were going to send me a new phone that worked well 68 days ago. They even sent me a FedEx tracking number that doesn't exist! They told me they were going to block my full name so people I call would only see initials. Everyone I call still sees my full name! There are so many other examples of how heinous they are. Right now I'm on the phone waiting to make a complaint but the way it's set up is you just go in circles all day and it leads you right back to Assurance Wireless. This is so sick to do to people who really need help. It is absolutely disgraceful and whoever is running this or responsible for this should go straight to hell. This is a joke to you, right? To bring harm to people who are medically challenged or need a real phone and a real people to help them at times with this lifeline. In my case it's really a lifeline. But I can't adequately Express the pain and suffering brought to me by Assurance Wireless because for two months they've been telling me I'm getting a phone that works. This is sick I even have the email that shows the false tracking number with FedEx that they sent me! How much sicker can you get? How awful can you possibly get? There is no company on the planet that is as awful and horrifying as Assurance Wireless.

Awful Company!
April 7, 2022

If I could give less than 1 star, I would. I arranged a free Lifeline for a low income senior. I completed the National Lifeline Verifier online and provided all that information to Assurance. They told me a phone was on the way. I called back every few weeks for 7 months, and every time I was told that the phone was on the way. I was then told there was a shortage of phones with COVID, but it would be coming. Today they finally told me that his application was denied and was denied immediately 7 months ago. They cannot explain why the last 20+ people I spoke with told me he was good to go. I would never ever use this company again.

I have 4 years of experience in the customer service industry and I can tell you the people who work customer service for this company should NOT be working in customer service. They will not listen to you and will constantly cut you off before you can explain more than a few seconds worth of your situation, then say they don't understand the situation but that's because they WOULDN'T LET YOU SPEAK. They have no listening skills and are snarky and unprofessional. They will cut you off saying they "just need a yes or no answer" even though if you're calling customer service, it's probably because your situation is more complicated than a yes or no. Wasted an hour talking to a rep who ultimately just told me the SAME THING I WAS TRYING TO SAY FROM THE BEGINNING, and she wasted her own time because she simply refused to let me say more than a few words at a time even though my situation made it necessary for me to tell my story from start to finish. Furthermore, 3 different representatives all told me completely contradictory information about my account status within the time span of two hours.
