Called these guys last weekend whn our dryer quit. They told me $80 to have a technician come out and take a look. Technician arrived Early Sunday and diagnosed a blown fuse. Now the bill is $290? But wait, turn the dryer on and now the fuse blows again. ( not surprised because something causes the fuse to blow, right?). So now the heater element is shorting and must be replaced. The heater element is another $165 but oddly he doesn't add any more labour because he's already charged me $290 to change a fuse. Tech comes back Monday afternoon with a new heater element, replaces it, takes the balance of his money and leaves. Thursday when my wife started laundry she fired up the dryer and after running for about 15 seconds it shut down again. Call the Appliance Team back and guess what? Now it's a warranty issue and has to be ' investigated '... seriously? We've called 4 times now and and the file is locked and they can't do anything until the warranty department unlocks the file. I like so many wish that I had read all the reviews first but it was the weekend and we were half way through our laundry. Website looked legit, they were very responsive on the phone so all seemed good. Keep looking, don't use these guys. Never mind the customer service issues, they still haven't diagnosed the problem. God help them if the do show up and are looking for more money!
Based on our bad experience, we highly caution unsuspecting trusting citizens to be careful and make their own decision when dealing with "The A Team Appliance Repair" (also known as "Appliance Repair Team"). We are writing this review after exhausting all our efforts for a refund of fraudulently collected money from them.
The technician charged in advance of performing any labor work then performed no repair work.
Charged for labor to repair a component which does not exist.
Billing discrepancies, including an incorrect company address on the debit receipt and a different company name on the invoice.
While the financial loss incurred in our case may be relatively small, no one deserves to go through the frustration and indignation of being deceived by unscrupulous individuals.
In hindsight, our mistake was not reading the bad reviews of this company (listed below) before contacting them for service.
Homestar (0.2/10), Sitejabber (1/5), TrustedPros (1.2/5) Trust Score (0/5), Better Business Bureau (1.05/5), Yelp (1.1/5) and "The A Team Appliance Repair (The most are unhappy customers)
The broadcaster CTV also investigated them in 2021. See the report in the following site. (https://toronto.ctvnews.ca/ontarians-need-to-research-before-booking-appliance-repairs-experts-warn-1.*******).…Unfortunately, nothing has changed so far in 2023.
We will continue to pursue this matter at all levels and encourage all affected customers also to write to the Consumer protection agencies and your elected government representatives. It is worth it, even if your communication saves just one customer from falling into the trap.
I am looking for anyone will join me in a class action against this company. Email me at *******@icloud.com. We need to shut them down!
Hired to repair my fridge...repairman took it apart and send the main board needed to be replaced, charged 950$, then came back a week later with the part and installed it and said another part is broken, and that would cost 450$ to fix. I demanded a refund of the first part and they refused...No thanks. Of course the idiot doesn't know what's really broken and ordered the wrong part
We had an absolutely horrible experience with this Co they made us PAY UP FRONT for parts and advised us they were in stock only to wait out a full month without a proper working fridge, with appointments made, cancelled and no work was EVER DONE! After going thru all this we had to wait an extra two weeks in total to be repaid. This was without a doubt one of the worst unprofessional experiences we have ever had PERIOD you have been warned
I am so disappointed with the service I received. The technician first cam to my house smelling of body odour! Next, he asks for our WIFI password? So he could run a diagnostic test on the machine. He said that he needed to reset the "safety system " and that all would be fine. He tried to run a cycle and was impatient for it to finish so he guaranteed that it would work otherwise he would come back. Apparently now I need a new board? Why reset a machine for $290 if a board is needed? I called and the receptionist said they will not send a new technician out because we need a new board! I do not understand why I was charged $290 to reset a system that you know is not going to work! This is deceptive!
We hired them in May 2023 and they diagnosed our fridge as needing a new compressor and we paid over $1600.00 before they would order the part. One technician showed up on June 18 but didn't have the compressor and left but told his company that he had installed the compressor. Out and out lie. Another technician came on July 7th and put in the wrong part. We told them we just wanted our money back and they charged us for the part that they replace didn't need to be. After we complained to the BBB they finally refunded us $712.00. All together we gave them over $1200.00 and we still had to go out and buy a new fridge. Just a joke.
Awful company who rip you off! The initially "friendly" call center staff were great at selling the initial $80 call out, to be taken off the overall fee. When the technician arrived after asking what the problem was with the dryer and saying he knew the root of the problem but would need to take the machine apart to check all components, he asked for a fee of almost $300+tax. I paid this, only to find that he then installed 3 new parts which he now wanted additional payment for which was a further $400+. When I queried why there was the additional payment, why he had gone ahead and replaced the parts without advising on the cost, and why this was so much in addition to the initial payment made? He kept saying it was company protocol. I rang the company on the spot only to be told that if I didn't pay it would be sent to a collection agency. It was an awful experience and I would not recommend this company at all. They are a rip off and very underhanded with their pricing. There was no transparency at all. Do not use them!
This company is a scam. I wish I had gone to reviews before I had booked with them because the same issues that other people had posted has happened to me. I called them to have them look at my wolf stove that's spurting gas when turned on, the technician told me that the issue was power board, spark module and ignition switch. The technician was so pushy telling me to order the parts as the parts will fix the problems and if I don't, will create more damage to my stove. I was charged $1900.00 for the parts and the labour, he told me that this parts would be ordered on Monday since the parts department are closed for the weekend. Since the work would not be done right away, I have decided on same day within 2 hours of ordering the parts, sent them an email that I've decided to cancel and called the company that I will cancel the parts. The customer service told me that, order can be cancel but accountant will have to call me Monday as they are closed, she reassured me that parts would not be ordered, but just wait for the accountant for them to cancel the order. I have called them on Monday at 8:30 AM to make sure that no order of parts is not placed, told me again that the accountant will have to call me. The accountant called me at 4pm to tell me that parts was ordered on a Saturday and that I have to pay a restocking fee! She told me that I had signed for it! I told her that I was not made aware of the restocking fee, and that the technician did not tell me of the restocking. All he told me was the orders for parts would be made on MONDAY and they will call me for installation middle of the week. The accountant told me that because the parts for the wolf is expensive, they would then refund me $900 meaning I pay $1000 dollars, $290+tax was for the service and the rest is restocking fee. This company has taken advantage of vulnerable people repeatedly, it is amazing how they are still able to look at themselves in the mirror. I'm giving this a rating of 1 so people will see this post, but in reality I would not even give them a star.
Called for a washer repair. Told $80 for the visit. The technician said the fee was $380 and said it needed a re-alignment. He required us to pay for the work before he did the work. He claimed to have re-aligned it, wrote on the invoice "problem solved" and said the work was guaranteed for 30 days. He said he started the test cycle and to call him if there was any concern, and he left. When the machine got to the rinse and spin cycle it stopped - nothing at all had been fixed. On top of it, the clothes in the machine had black stains, which did not exist before the technician arrived. We called the company and asked for someone to come back and fix the machine since it was not fixed and they refused. They said there is no guarantee on their work.
This company are scammers. They do not send a qualified technician because their intent is not to fix your appliance, but instead scam you out of your money. I filed a police complaint against them. If you have been scammed too, I would suggest filing a police report. There needs to be a criminal investigation against this company, because they committing fraud.
DO NOT let these people into your house. They pretend to be skillful technicians! They just take you for a ride.,,, a painful one. They rip you off and run away.
Washing machine needed to be repaired and quoted $275 to repair. Which actually turned into a $375 charge to identify the problem. The fee to repair was then quoted at $1168. The service tech spent 30 minutes to complete. I was told by their collections department that the $80 minimum charge is for a service tech to come to your door and your refusal to have them look at the machine.
We recently had a service call for a broken microwave latch. The fee was 80.00 for a service call which would come off the repair service charge if we went ahead. The tech arrived and confirmed we needed a new part but it would cost 795.00 plus tax. The unit was 6 years old and it would be cheaper to replace so we decided not to proceed. They told us the fee to diagnose the problem was 280.00 plus tax and if we didn't pay they would send a collection agency after us. We spoke to management about it and the fee was reduced to 200.00 plus tax. We feel like we were taken advantage of and we're ripped off. Do not use this company.
BEWARE! This was the WORST experience I have ever had with a company. I also wish like many others here that I had read these reviews without using this company! They provided an estimate for work on a washing machine that they knew had a faulty discontinued part but did not tell us this, in fact they told us the part wasn't in stock and they would look for it and would be in touch in a couple of days. They will provide estimates but it is clearly not to actually fix the machine as you would expect! The labour charged for didn't make sense and their customer service department could not explain it and were EXTREMELY rude and unprofessional. BEWARE of this company, see the reviews from others that it is a scam! I have reported to the Better Business Bureau based on their business practices and unprofessional actions.
They 'repaired' our freezer, charged $327 for less than an hour's work, and it stopped working again less than ten days later. They said it would cost another $1680 to repair it properly! They wouldn't honour their so-called 30 day warranty, refused to return, and hung up on us finally.
Called them to get my subzero fridge ice maker fixed. The rep came and said it will be $400 to repair this system. I asked whats wrong with the fridge? He mentioned that it needs to be reprogrammed to factory settings however, all the settings were fine as the fridge and freezer were working perfectly normal except the ice maker. After troubleshooting myself and reading the manual I found that maybe there is something frozen in the water pipeline and defrost the fridge. It worked! These reps claim they know what the issue is however, they do not as there was no diagnosis done. How the hell are you pricing something without a diagnosis? Stop scamming people and cheating them for their hard earned money.
My washer wasn't draining so,first mistake when you call,a bunch of repairmen and there all busy, don't get the one that's not. They wanted $90 to show, to tell you it's $280 take it apart to find the problem. Drain pump is broken so now $30 part is now $320.for part plus the labor.
While technician is fixing it,he is on phone getting instructions.Time to put washer back together, things don't fit.Call friendwithspecial tool, takes pump out and put in again, now told housing broken.Needs another $300,but enough is enough.Run don't walk away.
Do not let these people in your house. I had them for a $80 service call. Turned into a $322 service call (they said future service is covered, if I proceed with ordering $1,000 worth of parts) Unfortunately, they accidently threw out an important part that is no longer available to order.
I am a 72 year old female, do not have any knowledge of parts required to fix a much needed washing machine, and got scammed by this crooked company. It apparently needed a drain pump, which crook jr. Told me would cost $560.
When I initially called for service, I was told $80 for the call. Crook Jr. Came in with a clipboard for "sign here" and said it was $275 for stepping in the door and the $80 would be waived. Sign again for drain pump - $560. How was I to know that the drain pump is $88. The total amounted to $943.55. For a couple hundred dollars more, I could have bought the Cadillac of washing machines.
I do believe that Pat Foran of CTV should be contacted. Put these crooks where they belong!
