We needed to find an assisted living facility for our 97 year old mother in a very short timeframe and didn't even know where to start. After speaking with Ashley Erdman for over 30 minutes about our mother's needs, she identified a number of places for us to visit and even scheduled the tours for us. Ashley was extremely helpful and responsive and really helped us navigate through the process. We found a great place for mom and she's settling in well.

I did an interview of what my parents needed. They create a profile which is useful and shared with facilities so that you don't have to retell the story. You then schedule a visit with the facilities. That's where "A Place for Mom" stops.

What I had to learn on my own was extensive: Definitions of Independent Living, Assisted Living, Pallative Care, Long Term Care insurance, Veterans Aid & Attendance. Ask about transportation, in-facility care, meals (or meal allowances) vs. costs, non-refundable "community charge", rent increases, notification of leaving, waiting lists, pets, smoking, parking, second resident fees, grills on balconies, cable/internet, community vs. list of activities (do the seniors interact?), gardening, field trips, shopping, in-facility doctors/nurses/beauty parlor/scheduled care.

My family needed to find a place quickly for my husband who could no longer live in independent living.
Danielle O`Malley gave us a list of places that we found suitable on the first try. Unfortunately, my husband needed more care than we originally thought but each time we contacted A Place for Mom through Danielle we recieved good reliable information quickly.

We were looking for a place within a limited area. We narrowed down the recommendations because of that. Within that range we had four excellent options. We were able to preview the organizations online and use the Place for Mom guidelines to evaluate.

I was in need of help for my 97-year-old relative and had contacted local healthcare providers with no real results. I had seen the commercials for a Place for Mom and thought I'd give them a try. Well, I could not be more impressed with the speed in which they contacted me and how they helped me find a solution. Initially, I did not think they did in home care, but I was delighted that they had contacts that I did not even know about in my area. Jon, my Place for Mom consultant, was caring and efficient. He even put me in contact with a VA support group that also contacted me. Finally, all this service and the cost was $0! I am so grateful to a Place for Mom for guiding me to a place where I can breathe a bit easier getting the help I needed. I highly recommend this service.

They stayed in constant contact offering the help I needed to make my decision. Even after moving into our own home we were contacted offering help if needed.

This free service is a great way to start the search process if your elderly relative needs additional care. Was provided local options, introductions and on site visits that led to a great assisted living situation for my mom. Many local connections provided a great resource during a difficult situation.

When I began my search for ALF's for my father, I was overwhelmed by all the options out there and didn't really know what to ask when visiting places. Tamara was a great help and very supportive on this journey to get my father (who was resistant to the idea) into a facility that could meet his needs and still allow him some independence. The emails from A Place for Mom were full of helpful articles that made making the decision easier and explained the differences in types of facilities as well as provided good unbiased advice.
I appreciated all of the help and support I got from Tamara and A Place for Mom, I would highly recommend them to anyone who is considering assisted living for a loved one.
