Our hot water heater needed replacement quickly. A few years ago when looking for contractors for a new house we had bought Angie's list was very helpful. Home advisor was not. When I searched angi for a plumber it later several that you could request quotes from. I selected 3 for quotes. They also listed stars for ratings but I could never find out how to access the reviews. Every time I clicked on reviews it took me to the page to request a quote. I got a call within minutes from one plumber. The woman was very friendly and served helpful so we ended up booking with them. I never did hear from any of the other plumbers. They also keep promoting you to download the app for an additional 15% discount. Theoretically if you purchase an annual subscription for $29.99 you will get 20% off the job.

When the plumber arrived he quoted us a price of almost $1000 more than what I now know of the going rate. When I asked about the 20% discount he didn't know what I was talking about. I called angi and was told that because we booked over the phone directly with the plumbing company that was considered outside of the platform and not eligible for the discount. Angi is nothing but a scam as well as the contractors they use.

Today was my first day of having a housekeeper and I was Holly Watson's first client since moving here from San Diagonal. She came early so we could talk. Then asked to see what I wanted cleaned. She started right away and she did such a great job in every room. She is friendly and very thorough in her work. She did cleaning above and beyond my expectations! She is an on time person snd very great at her cleanings. I recommend her highly! Thsnk you Holly Watson for such a great job well done!

I called for a dishwasher repair and the "repairman" who came is not a licensed plumber or an appliance technician. He knew nothing about dishwashers and did not even know how to pull it out from the counter. He said his specialty is gutter cleaning. Ugh! What a complete waste of money.

Tried for the first time - what a scam - at least In my experience. Received calls from pushy sales people within minutes of submission for services - most with area codes not even close to my locale - assuming a middle-person who gets a cut from a local contractor. The best comparison is car dealerships - unprofessional and looking out for themselves and not the customer. I will not use this service again. Bunch of useless tech people setting up nothing more then a seedy referral network - trying to make a buck at something like construction that they know little about!

I'm a contractor just researching places to bring in a little more work. I tried signing up with Angie's list and they were so pushy and rude, saying and texting me things I wouldn't even say to someone I didn't like. They are all about the money and don't care about contractors or qualifications or the customers. The area manager was saying disrespectful things about my wife and family who he never even met or even knows.

We are a contractor who signed up with Home Advisor/now Angi and the leads we are sent and paying a lot of money for are often people expecting free service. We found that HA/Angi is paying for Google Ad Words related to free services in our industry. Many of the leads we are paying for are also looking for the wrong service, have incorrect contact information or say they never inquired, and when we request a refund most are denied. Recently we became entangled in a trademark infringement issue with another local company offering the same services under our name, Angi refuses to remove the non-licensed, infringer from their site. If you are a contractor, spend your advertising dollars elsewhere. If you are a consumer, do a search on Google rather than costing multiple contractors a lot of money to be sold your contact info.

Description of Complaint:
I am a small business owner in the construction industry. We signed up with Angie's in hopes of receiving real leads and boosting our business. In the last 90 days we have received 61 leads from angis. Out of the 61 leads I was able to verify that 11 of them were the actual home owners. Out of the 11 9 of the phone numbers actually worked. So some of the leads were real. But I went and visited several of the houses up to about 5 now and was able to confirm that no one living in the address on the lead matched the name and information on the lead. So less than 20% of the leads coming in have home owner information matching the information on the lead. This is wasting our money, time, and resources. This is stealing by misleading. I call to cancel and they don't get back to me and the one time I did talk to my "success manager" he told me we just had to change a few things on my page and it would fix it. It hasn't fixed it. I have made a file of all the tax records and homeowners names matching and not and the ones I visited. So the information i am posting here is accurate.

They were very shady. They would not give price of a tune up over the phone. When they came they said 225.00 and I said well with the coupon online and he said oh that includes the discount. I said no that is not what you told me. Your price is 225. Minus the 75.00 discount is my price... then he said I had to pay cash. I said nowhere on the website does it say the 75 off was only with paying cash. They said they don't take cards.
I said well what do I have proof of your work... he said we give you a receipt. It was blank... no company or anything g on the receipt but a phone number. I was NOT IMPRESSED with this companies work or attitude. He was done in under 10 minutes. When I asked if he could open up and show me what he had done he was annoyed... I'm not sorry... what did I pay you 150 for 10 minutes work to do? I have a right to know... could not of cared less... beware of this company
