We monitor reviews for authenticity
Had four quotes from Angie's List. Ryan from Insulation Worx came out and did the estimate. He seemed to be the most thorough and engaging out of all the people quoting. Due to his professionalism and thorough quote, I was expecting they may come back with the highest quote. They were actually the lowest quote. I used their services and once they started taking out the old insulation they say things that needed extra work and would need to charge by the hour. After they finished the job, I asked how much the extra work was going to cost. He scratched his head, then said don't worry about it - it is on the house. That was a pleasant surprise! The whole experience was very pleasant and their team was enjoyable to work with.
Angi list narrows down the best of the trades I am in need of and other customer reviews add to the authenticity of past work performed.
I used Angie's List many times but the new business model under Angie holds zero interest for me. They charged me $25 to act as an intermediary between themselves and contractors. I suppose this is OK for people with no experience working with contractors, but a big part of choosing who to use is developing the relationship. So, I'll never contact Angie again.
I am a business owner who signed up for a 1 year contract to Advertise on Angie's List before they merged companies. My 1 year signed contract was up in Feb of 2022. I was not aware that they automatically renew your subscription by sending me an email during the Holiday season on Dec 29th, 2021 and if I don't take action or see or read the email they automatically keep taking money every month out of my account for advertising I no longer wanted. I did not see the email they sent to me BUT I did email the account manager in Feb to make sure that everything was over and were all done with our contract. I never heard back then later found out that he was no longer employed at Angi's List. I should have received a phone call when they did not hear back from me. When I figured all of this out I went onto the business center and contacted the new account manager and had a very invasive discussion about me getting scammed and how I was no longer wanting to deal with them. Every time you get a lead on Angie's List and you call or email that lead, the customer never ever responds. It was a waste of money for that whole year but I fulfilled my end of that contract. My account manger never canceled my account and 3 months later still charging me. Everytime I would try to contact someone else to close my account every single person said that only your account manager can do that. Mine would not. Yesterday I finally filed another complaint with my bank blocked my card again in which they keep charging my card even though the numbers on the card change since it was a recurring payment the bank allowed it to keep going through. Finally today I got a phone call from someone at Angie's List that my account will be closed. I do not believe it until I see it. A business should not have to get scammed on advertising by companies like this. I signed a 1 year contract and that was it. I find it absolutely ridiculous they are allowed to scam businesses out of out hard earned money.
Great recommendations on available landscaping and tree service providers. Would use Angi in the future.
So I've tried to use Angi to find contractors and cleaners for my home. What I've run into is that their vetting process for their so called "professionals" is non-existent. Basically when you construct a "project" that you have, they try to match you with people in your area. The problem is that they don't match you with the best people, they match you with the newest people. So you get a list 2-3 people or outfits which typically have no reviews and no track records.
This was particularly true of their cleaning service setup. At first I thought this was going to be great -- the price was reasonable (considerably less than Merry Maids and the like) and could be scheduled easily. HOWEVER, the person that they sent out was obviously not a professional cleaner. She arrived without the proper supplies (all she brought was COMET scouring powder which she used on ALL surfaces in my house including my fine wood tables, my glass, my granite counters etc...) and she basically made a horrendous mess and damaged my furniture. I contact Angi and they sent out a second person to "fix" the first cleaning. This one was "better" but she did a substandard job and left early without completing the job (with Angi you contract for X number of hours, so in my case it was 5.5 hours and the cleaner left after 2 hrs). The next booking with them was a no-show (but they charged me anyways and I had to contact their support to get my refund) and when I got them to reschedule and send some one out to replace the no-show, their replacement was ALSO a no-show. At this point I had tried to have my home cleaned 4 times, and had failed. It was clear that there was zero vetting of their people, no way to review the people's work (the cleaning service setup is slightly different from the other Angi services and you can't actually see the person's review prior to booking them) and almost no recourse when things go wrong (the customer service person said "Do not worry we will mark your professional down and if that puts them below our minimum rating they will be removed" which honestly doesn't really give me confidence.)
Over the new Angi setup is just bad. Their matching isn't based on what you (the home owner) needs and the quality you expect -- but on the low quality contractors who are either boosting their match chance or have no established record.
I called made Appt. For an estimate. I've seen the work that he did for a friend. So I got a good deal since I've been calling different people for a quote on my house. MANNY GOMEZ Was the best he understood what my husband and I wanted coordinated the color. He was professional, prompt, fair in all aspects of the job. So glad we found him and we were able to get our house painted.
Heinous customer service, pros don't show up, a complete joke of a company. I don't know how they are in business.
Angi connected me with an utterly incompetent landscaper. The same type I was finding on my own. Angi connected me we a landscape/hardscape professional who abandoned my project after I questioned the quality of work and inaccurate billing. The landscaper didn't dispute any of my concerns and quit because he was in over his head. The contractor was poorly vetted by Angi. I told the Angi project manager that the contractor wasn't any good (no plan, no oversight) on day 2, but was told to give him a chance. After the contractor quit, Angi provided no financial guarantee for the poor work and wasted materials and very little support. Please know that if you are using Angi because you think you have some recourse against bad contractors, you don't. Save yourself the trouble and do your own due diligence and find your own contractors. I don't recommend Angi and would never use this service again and really don't see what value they are providing to the marketplace. They aren't vetting contractors and they are not guaranteeing the work... so what's the point.
Kept rescheduling until I finally lost it, and canceled all work. I needed two things done, I had some drywall to replace, and I wanted my yard mowed. Both projects were continually rescheduled. Not cool.
I enjoyed the service, though I didn't anticipate the amount of calls I would get for the work. Over all though it was a good experience.
We were looking for some help to finish our outdoor shed. I looked on Angie's List for someone hear our zip code and emailed Alex. He responded immediately and came by the next day. Instead of just giving us an estimate he started working right away. After about 4 hours our shed was completed. He did great work and was very reasonable. The temps were in the high 80's and he was in full sun, but he worked nonstop. We highly recommend him!
I was charged $50 out of the blue for a business I had never heard of, never communicated with in any way shape or form. Angi was incredibly unhelpful they just transferred my call around and did not respond to my emails.
I contacted Angie for a home improvement job. I immediately received a list of companies along with reviews. I picked the top 3 for an estimate 2 of which showed up. Angi is an easy and safe way to locate reputable companies in my area.
Had Several contractor call me very quickly and offered a free proposal. I selected one of the contractors after reviewing all the proposals.
I would like to warn everybody before they sign up that it's the biggest rip off in history do not sign up with Angie there horrible they expect the businesses to get good ratings but their ratings are terrible and I see why
Nice, friendly, respectful, great job, good communication, excellent service, would / will recommend to family and friends needing any exterior work done to any project needed. I'm a happy camper..
Answer: You'll have to contact the website directly. They don't monitor the Sitejabber website. Try to see if you can get them to delete your profile. If not, I would contact the Better Business Bureau or the Attorney General's office or another state law enforcement office in your state. This sounds like fraud to me (but, I'm not a lawyer).
