So many things went wrong it will be hard to list here.

1. First contractor never showed up, flaked out 2x

2. Angi rep reached out and said a pro would be sent out. This person had the specific details of my project. We discussed it.

3. Listing was wrong. (Evidently) the "pro" that showed up was expecting to do house cleaning and door install.

4. The people that showed up were sketchy, had never used the app before. Had never gotten reviews. What kind of "pro" is Angi sending?

5. The app wasn't working and so I couldn't verify with the person scheduled or see history.

6. The customer service representative could not explain how these random people got my address and yet did not appear to have knowledge of the project that I had discussed with the contractor that reached out to me. At first he said that my address would be sent to all local contractors and then back tracked and said that my information was safe. I only listed my city in the listing not my address.

7. I now need to start over, have no contractor scheduled.

I thought Angi's whole premise was to use professional contractors and people with solid reviews. This was definitely not the case. I am going to review Angi on multiple review sites, tell my friends about my experience and hire a contractor thru a legitimate company that I can verify.

Intelligent, thorough and made sure every nut, bolt etc was intact. I'm physically unable to do it. Juan Reyes was great, and better, a good man.

I hired mr ej joseph and i guarantee you this man completed the job i wanted him to do and was so kind. He is a respectful christian man and i really enjoyed having him in my home... i would definitely recommend him to do the job... he painted... installed walls... put down flooring and also did a few misc things in my home for me that was out of the goodness of his heart... god really blessed me when he sent me mr ej joseph to do the job... marilyn d vital 337/660/8403

I only left a review of one star because I couldn't give it a rating of zero. While using their services they were extremely expensive, and not very convenient to work with. I have closed my company and been trying to cancel my account with them for 2 months now. No one will call me back and they have charged me over $700 since I asked them to cancel. Beware if you do business with them of their Shady practices

First off, the guy would not let me hang up the phone from his sales pitch, he insisted I stay on the line. I was interested and had to think about it. The $300 a month contract for a year was something I had to think about. My stupid me signed on only to call and ask for a refund a few HOURS later. They told me they cancelled and come to find out the next day a cancellation request never was put in. They expect 35% of the remaining contract if you cancel before the year is up. A scam. I should have just hung up the phone on this guy!

I have used Angies list in the past, not bad, not great but I didn't get spammed after using them. But the new Angi... Forget it unless you want your phone to ring endlessly with useless calls. I wanted septic work in TN, I have had calls from CA, MD, FL, OH. The CA call, I asked how they were going to install from CA, their answer. "We don't but we'll find you someone". Isn't that what Angi is meant to be doing? Same for the MD caller. I asked how they got my number, You entered it in our website, so you're with Angi. No but we're affiliate with, so you do installs from MD, No but we'll find you someone, so not your website, did Angi give you this number, hung up. Angi is either selling your info or they don't care who singes up as an "Affiliate" and Affiliates seem to get your info for free so who knows what they'll do with it. Bottom Line Angi does not care. The more call the more chance they will get their fee on the work. An Angi person actually called to "See how it was going". He did say they do not sell info but acknowledge any affiliate could get the data. I asked even ones trying to do your job and explained my CA call. He had nothing to say.
My spam calls went for 1-2 per week to 20 per day. Use at your own risk

Signing up with Angi was difficult between my laptop and phone. Data not synched. But the primary reason I gave them a 1 is the barrage of emails and text messages I received. I probably got 40 some emails and 15 texts that I considered spam. Companies not associated with Angi started hounding me. I finally canceled my account and blocked all further emails/texts. That wasted a lot of my time. Just find a neighbor or a friend and get a referral. This service sucks and is annoying.

Apex construction came highly recommended and lived up to everything we had heard. George and his sons worked so well together that the work was completed ahead of schedule. The job itself involved more than I realized and they did their best to assure me that when the floors were completed I would be 100 % satisfied. They were absolutely right. My new floors are wonderful and I plan to have George, Nick and John back for another project I have planned.

I recently bought a "fixed price" service from Angi for 3 hours of a plumber to fix 3 leaking outdoor faucets. I provided detailed explanations and pictures of the faucets. What I got was about 1 hour of a handyman (no plumbing certification) who replaced the washers in the three faucets and fixed one leak but not the other two. Granted they were relatively old, but still.

When I called Angi to complain about the "service" they had sold me, they told me that they were essentially only a middle-person and that I was assigned a contractor who bid on the project based on the information I had included. They provide no vetting whatsoever and only rely on customer ratings to make sure they assign you a reasonably rated individual... I don't know what overhead they charge, but I certainly feel cheated after paying $325 for barely one hour of a handyman while after that being still left with two leaky faucets.

And btw, I don't blame the handyman. He was perfectly courteous and did what he could, which was very little. However, I squarely blame Angi for what I view as dishonest business practices. I explicitly asked for a plumber, they took my money and sent some one who of his own admittance is not a plumber and could not fix the problem. When confronted with the matter, they claim that it is not their problem although they are the ones actually paying the contractor (he had not received any money yet when I spoke to him) and facilitating the engagement.

Angie's list used to be reasonably useful by allowing you to filter contractors based on reviews from actual customers while Home Advisors was a reasonable directory of professionals that you could consult. The new Angi is neither and truly combines the worst of the two companies that merged to create it. I know that I will never use them again, and wanted other to benefit from the mistake I made, so that others could avoid making it. The bottom line is avoid Angi at all cost.

Started in and about when they said they would. Finished a tad later than expected, but there were things they found in terms of extra work necessary. Overall, they finished in a timely fashion. My house looks like a million bucks with new paint, and new deck and fence. Night and day! The owner is a really good guy. I would have hoped he would have communicated one minor miss, as we did not frame the deck so I can see the hollowed-out boards on two sides of my deck, but it's almost not noticeable. If we framed it, it would not have been an issue. Good learning experience, if I were ever to redo a deck again. Not this one with 15-year guarantee on the materials.
