I signed my business up in August 2020 and paid them $300 per month to advertise my deck company on their website. The contract I signed for 12 months had the category listed as Patios, I should have been more careful to take note of that, as a patio is generally concrete or paver type work and not a deck project. I discussed our business and what we want to advertise fairly in depth with the sales rep, and assumed I'd be in the correct category, but I wasn't. After emailing them a few times about not getting correct type of leads, with no response, I decided to call and cancel last week (mid Dec 2020) and was told that'd I could either pay a contract cancellation fee of over $900, or continue my contract which would cost me another $2100, but that I could not advertise services I actually do - so I'd be stuck advertising concrete work when we don't do concrete work.
They provided me absolutely no benefit the first 4 moths for $1200, and now expect me to pay another $945 to cancel the contract, because the contract does say Patio's instead of Decks. Checking our online portal it shows that we are listed under Decks, however they wouldn't allow us to advertise that as we had received a bad review the week after signing the contract (from a 2 year old project who just wouldn't be made happy). So I didn't get a single lead for a service we actually provide and now have to pay even more to cancel the contract... but they offered a free month of service to advertise products we don't even sell for some reason, how helpful of them. Be extra careful if signing with them, they could care less if you actually get anything for your money, so make sure you have it all correct and expect to it just be like signage, maybe someone will see your name now and then, but probably won't get any value directly from Angie's List - and if they do make a mistake, and you don't catch it yourself right away, they'll accept no responsibility for it. Bad service, no value, and they couldn't care less, highly recommend against using their paid services.
Angie's list is a scam avoid at all cost!
Went to Angie's list to hire a local contractor for bathroom remodel, we paid him $8000 up front and he never came back, contacted Angie's list and they told me there was nothing they could do when I asked them about his insurance and back ground check they said they didn't do that, long story short when I googled Angie's List come to find out 80% of their revenue is made in advertising businesses that Rate, so you cannot trust Angie's list and they're writing because they're going to take dad reviews off to keep the business that their listing so they can continue to collect advertising revenue.
I recently hired Preferred Electrical Construction, Inc. located in Edgewater
The company and employee who was sent to me was very professional and courteous.
The employee later contacted me as a follow up for satisfaction. I would highly recommend this company.

Neware they will just take you money amd will not build yoir fence. Professional Thefts! Please reaearch this company. Lots of complaints. No license just llc. A license to steal!
Contractors be warned. If you subscribe they got you for a year. They told me it was a 6 month agreement. I rode out the entire year for $600 a month. $7200! I got very few leads that materialized into jobs. Never heard from a customer rep until it was time to pay each month. I intentionally used a credit card at its limit so no unauthorized charges. I tell the rep that call every month "you guys got me and i cant wait for this be over". They never offered any apology or suggestions on how they could make it better. Eff em.
In order to use their site, you have to provide personal contact info. Once you do so, you will be inundated with phone calls and unwanted emails within hours. They will be for services you don't need/want and will have nothig to do with your original inquiry. Once they have your info, there is no way to delete your account and related information from Angies List. Avoid this company like the plague!
What an emergency! Sewer spewing into the basement. Called A-General who treated this as an emergency and came in over in about an hour. Carlos E. Was very competent, efficient. He first told us what it would cost and that's exactly what we were charged, very reasonable price especially for emergency service.
I signed a one year contract with Angie's List with the promise that hundreds of leads were available to me and waiting. However, this was not true. I booked zero projects off of Angie's List. They would not allow me to cancel my membership without paying a hefty fee. Overall, this is a shady business I would not recommend dealing with.
On July 17,2020 I contracted Advanced Roofing to put up a gutter, and the contract states that it would be about 3 weeks, but as of this date October 28,2020 the job has not ben done, and I haven't got my deposit of $200.00 back, and Joe the owner will not answer my text he has blocked my calls. This is not someone that I want to do business with in the future I will be going to court for my money back. I would advise anyone to think twice before you call Advanced Roofing for anything. Signed Earl
I have been with Angie's list for over 98 years. I have not signed a contract with them for 2 years. I decided to cancel my advertising since I was not receiving any leads or reviews. When I asked to cancel, I was told I would have to pay 35% for the remainder months on my contract. What Contract? I have not signed a contract written or verbal for over 2 years. I am very disappointed with Angie's list policies and their failure to contact me when my contract needed to be renewed.
KITCHEN FLOOR IS NOW BEAUTIFUL.
KINGSTON FLOORING IS PROMPT, PROFESSIONAL, AND NOT OVERLY EXPENSIVE. WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THE SERVICES TO ANYONE.
I had some work done on my sprinklers, and the tech asked if I would do a review about my satisfaction. Well, I tried to and I was emailed almost 15 times that I don't have enough information. They asked for my last 3 addresses and when I told them I've been at my house for 15 years, they said there is not enough information to verify me. After I gave my home and cell number, and my last 3 addresses from YEARS ago, and 2 emails. Which I don't understand why they kept asking for my previous addresses when it has nothing to do with anything. And when I told them that, they kept ignoring it! Worst company to talk to hands down. Very rude!
This is my first time using Angie's List and I'm not impressed. Companies can pay to be at the top of the search results and some of those companies have big sales forces and aggressive marketing if you contact them. That has nothing to do with how qualified they are at providing the service you need.
Also, the list of contactors included companies that are 30 miles and an expensive ferry ride away from my home. There is no way to sort the list based on which are closest to my home and don't require the ferry trip. Each time I go back to the list to look for more names, I have to answer all the same questions again and then in gives me a list of just a a handful of companies. (Probably the ones that have paid to be promoted.) What happened to the list that contained dozens of contractors, which presumably included those that didn't pay to be promoted on the site?
Information like licensing and bonds are self-reported so there's no checking of credentials according to what I read on the Angie's List site.
I think it's a very difficult site to use that favors the companies that can afford their fees to be promoted.
From your list, thank you angie... we used Growing Solutions Tree Care. This company does outstanding work. They went above and beyond their work to do the best job they worked very hard and me and my husband is very pleased with them we will highly recommend them to other people and we will use them again I am sure... this company gets a triple A + from us... Growing Solutions Tree Care.
For a site that "prides"(definitely not) themselves on reviews of business, they promote fraudulence at ever opportunity. As long as there are reviews, they do not care if it is other contractors trying to spread rumors or actual true customers. Even when there is proof of this, they will do nothing. Companies can pay for a better rating which makes the whole site completely meaningless. Overpriced, shady as all, and could give 2 ----- about anyone except their bottom line.
I entered into a 1-yr contract with Angie's List at a cost of $400/ month for an unspecified number of leads. Like many other complainants all over the internet, the leads were few and unprofitable but I was stuck in the contract. In my 10th month ($4,000 wasted), I contacted my rep to cancel and pay their ridiculous 35% cancellation fee.
A week later, I was once again billed the full $400 monthly charge. My rep was suddenly unavailable to answer the phone or return my messages but I was told by someone else that I didn't follow the correct cancellation procedure and there is a lengthy, convoluted cancellation process that I didn't navigate properly so I'm stuck paying for another month of service before I can cancel. After complaining to Jeff Carder, Katy Torian, Myron Robinson, and Clayton Hooks, I was told the agreement was cancelled. From an August 18th email from Myron Robinson: "Your agreement has been cancelled."
On August 30th, my account was once again billed the full $400. At this point, I feel like they're either incompetent or fraudulent. $800 has been charged to my credit card since I verbally expressed my intent to cancel and my agreement is still active. Something is very wrong with the way this company operates.
*Notice that the only positive reviews are actually for companies who advertise through Angie's List, not Angie's List itself.
We bought a warranty policy because they were recommended on Angie's list however when I came down to it they have done nothing but try to cheat us and they won't pay any of the claims for the appliance that broke and are trying to give us 1/5 of the cost. I wouldn't purchase another product that was recommended by Angie's list again ever in my life
The workmen were professional an cordial. Provided excellent service
Arrived at expected time, and did exactly what was requested
Excellent service, excellent job, great works, schedule on time, keep things clean, very porfessionable
Will recommend to others
Excellent work. On time. Reasonable prices. Used on several occasions. Completed the work in a timely manner. Will use again.
Answer: You'll have to contact the website directly. They don't monitor the Sitejabber website. Try to see if you can get them to delete your profile. If not, I would contact the Better Business Bureau or the Attorney General's office or another state law enforcement office in your state. This sounds like fraud to me (but, I'm not a lawyer).
