Shipping is not shown per item, which produces misleading perception of each unit's actual cost. Other book sites show each unit's shipping, but alibris only shows free shipping next to the item and then an amalgamated shipping cost under the total.

Several times now I've gone to purchase used books through Alibris that my order did not go smoothly.
The most common complaint I have is the advertised shipping costs are not what are charged at Checkout. It seems Alibris deliberately mislead their customers with low shipping costs and then to find at check out the actual cost in 3x! Recently I wen to purchase a books with a NZD8.99 shipping costs only to find and the final stage of checkout the shipping cost has automatically risen to over NZD30!
(Looking at the international shipping rates webpage, yes International Shipping starts are NZD30+ - why wasn't this shown when I logged on and set the shipping destination to New Zealand - frequently I get much cheaper shipping rates on other websites like Abebooks.)
Similarly I recently purchased a book at a sharp price, sucked up the 3x cost increase in shipping, only to get an email from the supplier telling me that the book was not $24 as advertised, "we have ongoing issues with the Alibris website displaying the wrong prices", and that if I wanted the book I would in fact need to pay $58! But hold-on, you had accepted by order, right? Apparently, the order acceptance on Alibris is not legally binding, e.g. the seller can change their mind. Ok, no I'm not paying that price, the seller then offered me a store credit, no - thanks! Seller then says it wasn't their fault, it was an Alibris Website issue. Then I had to go to my credit card company with the emails - then I got my refund!
Don't be surprised when you shop an Alibris, things aren't quite what they seem!
The usability of choosing an item is ok, though somewhat overwhelming when there are a lot of choices which are all basically alike. When the supplier doesn't describe the condition except with the designation, (e.g., Very Good), it's not helpful at all. It would be nice to have the option to see a sample page of text or the table of contents, so I can see what the font is, the font size, and its readability.
I'd give 5 stars if I could see the shipping before I get to the final stages of checkout.

I'm glad to see that you have reasonable prices for your items.
Media shipping seems high. Spent $25 on books and $45 for shipping. If I add 4.99 to book cost, it brings cost close to bookstore price.
Website is easy to navigate and options were satisfying.
Description of the merchandise and it's condition could be more detailed.

Answer: I saw the fake stellar reviews and did not dig deeper. I til... I had an issue. Initially, I wanted to give a small seller some business after COVID and the site looked really good. What a big mistake that was! Shame on this outfit.
