All my years ive never been an A student in math but i can almost make it to B's. I have always gotten past math pretty okay, until Aleks came into the picture. This is such a terrible way of learning and such a huge waste of time. The teacher doesn't do anything other than watch us work on the computer while they get paid. We must start a campaign to delete Aleks and get rid of it because it has dropped my grades from 70's and 80's to 40's and 30's. It's seriously the worst learning cite i have ever seen. It is affecting many students and the only ones that don't have a problem with it are those really smart kids that don't have scial lives and just sit at home with enough time to go on Aleks as much as they want. We want the old ways of teaching back. Every review about Aleks is terrible. Take it down.

Why has god abandoned us?
December 17, 2015

God is dead and ALEKS.com killed him, letting corrupt teachers get paid for just sitting there is more frustrating and rage-inducing then watching a dog get beat to death. ALEKS may well be the worst thing I have ever experienced and is a complete waste of time and money and the never-ending pain. ALEKS has tormented so many children with incorrect answers and the worst design choices ever. ALEKS TORMENTS ME LIKE THE VOICES IN MY HEAD AND IT WONT GO AWAY. I would litterally rather eat my own eyeball rather then do ALEKS and now I have to stay up everynight because the education system will take your life and split it in half with a spork. The despicable lil' prick that made this is rich while the students are trying to teach themselves because the teachers think that ALEKS DOES IT FOR THEM. I will never again be happy and my life is completely destroyed and wrecked into the oblivion if you have the choice, KILL YOURSELF BECAUSE ALEKS WILL KILL YOU MORE SLOWLY.

Why would any teacher invest in such a despicable program? I've been stuck with this program since I started high school, and regardless of our negative reviews, they still made us use ALEKS again. Read the other 1 star reviews and that's how I feel honestly.

Reading some of these negative reviews, I almost spit out my coffee because of how funny and accurate they are. Why am I drinking coffee? Because it is four o'clock in the freaking morning and I'm still working on Aleks.

Warning: Do not fall behind in this program or your anus will be deeply penetrated by the site known as Aleks. I only have three more chapters before I can take my college final. The problem? Aleks decides it would be a great idea to stick two 90 topic chapters to end the class. Isn't that dandy?
I've had about three "knowledge checks" for this chapter, and every time I finish one, the program takes away all the progress that I have made by adding 10 more topics! Merry Christmas! What a gift!

I've given up hope. My social life is gone. The program gives terrible directions. I've spent eight hours of my life on this website last week alone, and today, which marks a new week, I've spent four.

Teaching was not meant to be done by a computer.

If you feel like hating Math, your professor, your school, and yourself, then Aleks is the website for you.

Aleks has frustrated me from the start the explanations provide limited material for the many problems at hand and I have had to spend long amounts of time on stupid questions that were then erased because my previous questions weren't answered the whole system is flawed when it comes to getting the right amount of topics done in a row it makes the system time consuming and tedious

I would not be using it if I had the choice. This stupid program counts to 50 points on my HONORS Math grade. The site would actually be sort of good if they worked out all the bugs but they DONT CARE! I AM SO TIRED OF GETTING PROBLEMS WRONG THAT HAVE THE RIGHT ANSWER!

Waste of time
November 26, 2015

I had to buy this program for my pre calc class at the college that I attend. I had to do two sets of topics each week and sometimes I would get 30 topics. For each topic you get 3 questions an the only way to complete a topic is to get all three questions correct in a row. If you miss one you start over. I have spent hours on one topic. I can not say I have learned anything at all and I have cried while trying to complete the topics.

Aleks basically gives you many(~200) topics for whatever course you have chosen, and each topic has 3 or 4 questions within it. Sounds good! So there you are, doing your math problems, 1 question away from getting a new topic checked off your list when- you get the problem wrong. Oh well! I'll just start over from the beginning of the 3-4 question topic, but the process of erasing your progress continues until you've reached the achievement of earning a new topic. Congrats! Now here's your daily Knowledge Check (hell). You work for a few hours completing 30 problems that cover all of your topics. When this is completed, you check back at your topics and - WHAM! - After getting only 3 problems wrong on the Knowledge Check, you have been "rewarded" with the taking away of 16 of your hard-earned, I-spent-hours-on-this topics. Time to start over again until you eventually give up and accept this flawed system. Now its time to write a 1-star review of the terrible site!

OVERALL: Avoid ALEKS at all costs unless forced to do it, if you are forced- I hope you have hours of free time on your hands!

If you want to spends endless hours doing math problems only to have your progress taken back for a program glitch or an accidental mistyping this is your program. Making a computer teach is an absolutely stupid idea. Without the human element, learning is lessened. I'm not saying this is the case for everyone, but for me personally and many others the structure of this class just isn't conductive for learning.

This math program is terrible. Use this only if you want to spend hours upon hours slogging through hundreds of problems each week only to have stuff added back to your completion pie if you miss a question on a review assessment. Just because you throw a sign while working a problem doesn't mean you don't know how to work the problem and need to redo all of the homework you already did on that section. A computer program just isn't capable of assessing whether or not the material is sinking in. Removing the human component from teaching math is a terrible idea. Why are we paying college level math teachers to teach math when all they are doing is directing their students to this terrible program.

You know what I LOVE about school? When one of my MOST IMPORTANT classes has to use a very incompetent program! You've heard it here, this program is horrible. I get soo very frustrated with this website/program because it is horrible. They do NOT give you enough information to actually "Learn" anything, so when you have to learn a new thing you have to look up how to do it, because it just gives you the most BASIC example without explaining "why". My "VERY SMART SCHOOL" thought "Hmm, well if there is only 1 teacher in the classroom only able to help 1 person at a time, we just won't let them look up how to do it on the internet (Even though they are already on computers with a world of knowledge at the tips of their fingers being blocked by a firewall). Oh well, SCREW THEM!". Another point to bring up, this program does grades by "numbers of topics", so if you do 4 very difficult ones that takes 2 hours to do one day, and blast through 4 easy topics that takes 15 minutes another day, then they count as being the same. It doesn't do it like a REAL HUMAN grades, and it tries to do so, but it falls 47 ft. Short. AVOID AT ALL COSTS, DO NOT LOOK AT THE 2 POSITIVE REVIEWS, AS THEY MISREPRESENT THIS PROGRAM (In my opinion).

Thank you for reading this review.

After repeatedly smashing things in my room out of frustration of a program in which i can type in the right answer, get the answer wrong, and then have to move back to waste more of my time that I could be doing other hw. Math hw has become a marathon with this pos, and I have shin splints through my psyche that may never go away, I mean if I have to enter a number ever again in a computer I may irrationally lash out at someone near me, and for that ALEKS, I thank you. You're now causing danger to others around me, and quite possibly making tax season the most life-threatening task someone around me may ever face. Pray for me, but most of all, pray for yourselves, because clearly you are satan incarnate

While this program may be helpful as a supplement to course material, in no way should it be included as part of the overall grade. I think the frustration most people experience while using it is very counterproductive which nullifies any of its benefits.

I have to use this website in my school, and everytime i log on, its like i get another form of cancer. My teacher that makes us use this is lazy as hell, and doesnt help us if we need help, he makes us do vocab words every week, these things called error analysis, and on top of that we need to have 7 hours of this cancerous program everyweek. I dont mind getting topics done, but the way this website teaches makes me rethink my life choices and makes me want to go live in a desolate country so i can become a monk and never have to use math again. ALEKS sucks massive dong and whoever made this deserves to be hung by his toes, then beaten like a pinata with a metal baseball bat with electricity arcing through the bat. Then dipped in acid and burned so that he wont be able to give any more students cancer. $#*! ALEKS. Its horrible, and i feel bad for whoever has to use this bull$#*! program.

After reading all these bad reviews, I had second thoughts about paying $20 a month for a service that claims to replace tutors. But as a high school junior who was struggling in his pre-calculus honors class, I had no choice but to jump the gun. I selected the Precalculus course, and started with a 20-question diagnostic test. I flunked it. I only got 25% correct. I was presented with a pie graph that showed which areas I was good at and which I wasn't. It then allowed me to learn at my own pace, and just like a video game, I was passing through levels and questions. After about 2 months of using it, I received a 95% in my precalculus honors class.

Highly recommended for people who are WILLING to invest a lot of time in learning. Not for slackers.

Aleks is the worst
October 16, 2015

If you have a full time job and your a student stay away from math course that uses aleks.com. Its a nightmare! They give you 219 topics, each topic has 3-4 problems, if you get one answer wrong it gives you 4 more problems and keeps doing this all over again and again until you get all 3 right in a row. Every ten hours you get an assessment and if you get one question wrong they take away 5-10 topics( thats about 40 problems lost that you worked so hard to complete) and you have to repeat these topics again and again. This program is designed for math wizards, or for people that do not have a job and have time to put in about 6 hours per day. This aleks.com program is designed for the schools to double and triple their profit by having students fail their math course because it has over 1000 math problems which have to be completed in 15 weeks plus the exam. The worst program ever
