I'm a very good student. Last semester I received a 4.0 GPA. However, this semester I am not doing so well. I have a D+ in math. The reason behind my poor grade is because of 2 reasons, the first being ALEKS. I say this because I have completed as many topics as I possibly can, and I can no longer get all of my assigned topics done. The "explanations" the program has are not at all useful and honestly just confuse me more. This is where the second reason comes in: the teaching and grading system. I can't do all of my topics because my teacher can't teach the hard things yet. I couldn't get into a harder class because I went to a private school before I attended public school and the curriculum didn't line up so the school put me in classes I didn't sign up for. In summary, ALEKS is a waste of time and I'm failing because of it.

I am a 7th grade student and I believe ALEKS is just some website that lazy teachers made up. It takes up days and days of work. Every time I am forced to do ALEKS I just feel so frustrated automatically. I have anger issues and ever since I started doing ALEKS they have just gotten worse. This program dosen't even base the questions on what's best for the student using it. And if you do one little mistake it removes any progress you make. Some topics are so difficult that not even my teacher could solve the problems. ALSO, if I get a question wrong, the explanation makes no sense at all! Plus, it has brought my grades down SO MUCH. I used to be and A+ student, but ever since ALEKS got in to my life, I have been getting 80's and 70's. I just want ALEKS out of my life.

Many teachers have became so lazy and want to incorporate technology into math but its sucks. As a student I prefer the old school method so I can see my answer worked out completely. It hurts me because I received a 20% on an assignment as math is the best subject I perform in. I checked my worked multiple times and asked for help with my tutor. When I received a 20% this was the moment I knew that ALEKS was the worst website to use for math. The system it runs on wants you to be so specific while in the real world nobody has been that smart since Albert Einstein. I believe Aleks should do something to help/re-vamp their system because it clearly sucks from these comments that many people have left. My teachers shouldve known better to work on a different site if they wouldve read these reviews, like seriously Aleks yall have a 1 star rating that is horrible. Do better Aleks because yall suck!

I'm not a very smart guy, but with enough time and effort i'm able to work through Algebra classes at a steady pace. However, any chance i had of ever passing an online subject flew right out the window when my professor implemented the Aleks program, it sucks up an insane amount of time, punishes you heavily for the slightest mistake, and has the most horrendus teaching method i have ever seen in my entire life. The explanation make little to no sense, the knowledge checks aim to try and make perfect students by shaving off points for any mistake and forcing you to spend even more hours on a subject you wasted entire days on. Online classes were meant for people to have more flexible time schedules due to jobs/families or even other time consuming classes, But Aleks completely ruins that in every possible way. If you're a teacher/Professor in any educational field i urge you to STAY AWAY from this program. You will only damage your students education and any chance of them being able to learn any subjects, this program should not exist in the educational field.

My teacher makes us use it for homework. We are graded on whether or not we can understand and complete 6 topics within an hour. It does not take into account how different students have different subjects that are easier for them. It just assumes that. "oh whole numbers is always easy for every single person on the entire planet. No, its f*cking not. Personally? Geometry and probability are so easy. Why can't you put that first for me? Why won't it conform to the understanding that each student is different? Ask for another explanation with more details? Same thing but even more confusing. It's complete crap. Not recommended for any teacher. You'll make your student hate you and bring down their confidence in their own abilities. It sucks.

I feel every time my teacher assigns Aleks, I slowly feel my brain cells rotting and murdering themselves. This site needs to be only for homeschooled students because it's a sloppy program for lazy teachers. I sit on this program wondering why any school thinks it's amazing. Colleges and schools need to get this god awful program away from Math. Its entire purpose is to make kids feel great about their learning accomplishments, but when they take your progress away over some silly mistake, I want to find something to throw out the window.

So annoyed that so many professors adopt this program. Just because it is on a computer does not mean it is increasing our knowledge old people. It is time-consuming! I have 19 credits and this program is nuts. So buggy! I can't express how much I honestly hate this program. Every time I log on I want to throw my computer across the room. Yes, I am bitter and I decide to take a break from this crud program to vent! Why should I have a knowledge check after putting in so many hours, just to have to go back and redo the topic? The people who developed this program did not have the user in mind. I honestly hate you. Keep your inventions to yourself. Peace out!
