Ok this thing, what ever it is its slow and every question i get right it says its wrong I even have my teacher check it and my answer is correct and its just... no its terrible.
An awful website, its so slow and annoying. I find the questions so confusing and it look terrible too.
What the title says. I can spend up to 6 hours and only get 20 topics completed, when my teacher expects me to get 53 done in two, while also doing my film editing class. There are 3-5 questions per topic, plus the amount of times it marks you wrong and you have to start all over. If I need to get 53 topics done, that's over 200 questions I have to answer, and I don't have that kind of time. I can't be expected to do math to something we haven't learned in class yet.
Plus, just now, I put in my answer and it marked it wrong. I did the problem the other possible way, and it marked it wrong. Turns out, it's telling me my first answer was correct. What. Kind. Of. BS. Is. That.
The absolute worst website ever to exist on the planet. Seriously super annoying and time-wasting website in the whole multiverse.
Who felt the need of making this? Before my school assigned us to do this program I was averaging an A- in Math but out of the blue my school decided to make us do this and now that A- average I built through 3 years of High School sunk to a C+ because I am currently at an F in Math right now because of having to do Aleks on top of every thing else Seniors have to do and Having an F in math is especially bad since it might effect if i get into college or not so thanks Aleks!
This site is so great I love taking an 1 hour and 20 minutes out of my life to do MATH! I love math even though it makes my brain hurt and lowers my self confidence but this makes it so much worse that is why I love it. I got it wrong even though I get it right so stressful. Love you Aleks!
I think my teacher are addicted to this program. They think we need to be doing up to 30 minutes of math on a website. It doesn't even help kids with math.
This is the worst program/book I have ever used. I used to have a 4.0 until I took this course. After spending up to 60 hours a week trying to get through each module (which I rarely did), I was devastated with the amount of time spent trying to learn each lesson. It was utter torture at times due to the get one right... woohoo... get another one right... hold your breath... then wrong answer you bounce backwards. It get to the point, everytime I went to go click to submit, I would brace myself and hold my breath. I even hired a tutor thinking that would help. My tutor didn't last very long as she didn't seem to answer it the way the program would.
Additionally, it doesn't take into account students in different time zones. So every week I didn't get as much time as everyone else got to spend time in the program.
This program needs to be taken back and withdrawn from all colleges who use it. It is a horrific program that makes students want to drop out of the class.
This is literally this worst program in existence. If the creators cared at all about what they had created they would take ALEKS down forever and considering walking down the long stairway to hell. I was really disappointed when I found out I couldn't give this less than 1 star.
So... today in my math class we had to do this quiz and Aleks didnt explain what we had to do explicitly! We had to do Graph Linear Functions and it didnt state what numbers you had to choose for the input values, and it didnt state how many points had to be on the graph! So yea

Waste of my 50 minutes
Maryville University seems to be on a quest to completely eliminate their use of physical textbooks, and ALEKS is their most recent blunder.
-We didn't even have access to our textbooks until 2 weeks into the semester.
-The "objectives" are not tied to chapters, so there's no connection between what you are being suggested to do and what your professor will discuss or quiz you on.
-The assignments and prompts are clunky, and haphazardly put together.
-These materials almost completely eliminate instructor interaction over your work until the test date.
-It is very possible that the suggested methods in the E-book assignments will not match up to how you are expected to arrive at an answer.
-This is below the standard of what I expected to pay for from any college or university.
-The frustration never ends, and no one cares because this garbage must be a cash cow.
It is so easy to assign someone this but hard to understand. Everyone, we must join together to fight back against this menace
Thank god it's over. I just finished my pre-calculus course in college. This was the worst web-based learning platform I have ever used. Not only did it take me over 15 hours a week to complete each chapter, but I felt the "examples" of each lesson were not very well demonstrated. For example, some questions within a lesson would be nothing like the examples they give you. The next thing about Aleks is that you must get 5 points within each lesson to move on to the next lesson. If you answer 3 questions correct in a row, two of them give you double credit, essentially meaning you could move on to the next lesson by answering just 3 questions. Sounds pretty simple right? WRONG! There are setbacks! If you get a question incorrect, it sets you back. If you look an example before answering a question, you only get 1 point. I felt more punished than rewarded. I was literally in tears one night because of how frustrated I was. Avoid at all costs!
On paper, ALEKS sounds like a great program: quick, easy feedback with plenty of examples to compare your work with. The "quick retake" option is great, but that's all I can really say in terms of positives.
But boiling it down, the site just doesn't function. I type in a question, knowing it's right; when I look at the "report" for the assignment, it says I typed in a completely different answer. Having a working feature is like the flip of a coin: sometimes it runs smoothly, other times it is completely non-functioning.
ALEKS has the potential to be great, but the entire moral of "one mistake and you're done" is broken and the system itself is glitchy at best and unusable at worst.
