This math program is EXTREMEMLY boring. On my first two years of using ALEKS, I though it was a pretty decent program. I didn't really have any problems. But now, I think that it is one of the worst online math programs out there. Most of the stuff you learn on ALEKS is completely useless. My class does not learn about 90% of the things you learn on ALEKS. It's not just ALEKS, it's the entire McGraw-Hill company. Their other products are also very bad. I used their reading program last year and it was extremely buggy. My wonderful teacher was great, but she was not able to use her talents because of how buggy it was. The English books were also very bad and sometimes even cringe worthy. The StudySync program is also quite boring. It was one of the most boring things in my English Class. The only good decent part of this company is the "My Math" program. It's not the best but it had few problems. I am talking about the book, not the online program as I don't really have any experience with it. This review is coming from a person with a 4.0 GPA with a 98% grade average. Overall, don't use ALEKS or anything from this company. Disgusting

Like most other reviews here, i've been using aleks at my school for 3 years so far and every year i've only learned to hate it more. It's so unforgiving in it's methods that if you get a single problem wrong when doing topics, you lose the progress you made before and are given a new topic. It leaves no room for error.
It doesn't do a good job teaching you new subects as it'll give you the easiest problem possible as a demonstration on how to do it, then throw you into the hardest problem that can give you. It's just a massive headache and it's a pain that most schools still use this.
All i can say is that if your school uses aleks, go to the math department and protest it. Tell them to throw it out in favor of a different alternative. Sign a petition if you need to. Do not stand for this program if you hate it this bad.
The one star rating stands for "Doesn't get any worse than this. Stay away!" Heed it's advice

I have used many different online learning programs in college but this takes home the bacon for being the worst. My first section I had to do well over 400 math problems that many I already knew how to do, because the intial knowledge check shut off and didn't let me try the last half of the test. Welcome to a semester of hell, I would recommend doing your homework in public bc this will make you look like a crazy person from being so defeated.

Today was records day- a day we don't have school so that the teachers can work on our grades before the quarter ends and we can have a day off. The day started off great, we went to a store and got some goldfish, cookies and cinnamon bread. Then we had lunch and I watched some Youtube videos and stuff like that. But then I had to do homework. First some violin practicing, which was annoying but not that bad, and a knowledge check on ALEKs. It put me in such a bad mood and right know I'm trying really hard not to cry. I really wanted to go to the craft store to get a few things but now I won't be able to because I have to do this. In short ALEKs has ruined a perfectly good day, and I won't be able to do something I really wanted to. I hate ALEKs sooooo much and it deserves soooooo much less than one star.

Every time I'm assigned homework on Aleks, it takes way longer than needed and is an absolutely awful experience. I'm always left extremely stressed out after it marks the majority of my answers wrong, but does not have a helpful explanation. Most of the explanations for these problems are oversimplified and offer absolutely no help. Having to fill up the pi chart/percentage is by far the worst assignment. Teachers make Aleks percentages an extremely crucial section of grades. Gaining just 5% takes hours! And as previously said, the explanations are awful. Knowledge checks are hellish abominations. Often, they include problems that I have absolutely no memory of working with! My percentage usually decreases after taking a check. I don't think I, personally, have ever learned anything from Aleks. It's just tedious busywork that makes the majority of students want to fling themselves off of a bridge! Absolutely awful, avoid anything relating to Aleks.

Aleks is by far the WORST thing on the planet. HOW DOES ANY PROFESSOR ALLOW THIS. I HAVE LITERALLY WANTED TO GET MYSELF RAN OVER BY A CAR THAN DO THIS PROGRAM. IT TEACHES YOU NOTHING. HAS WRONG ANSWERS. MAKES YOU FAIL YOUR CLASS. MAKES YOU DEPRESSED. MAKES YOU QUESTION YOUR MAJOR. MAKES YOU QUESTION YOUR LIFE. IT SETS YOU UP FOR FAILURE. $#*! YOUR PROGRAM AND $#*! ANY PROFESSOR WHO GIVES THEIR STUDENTS THIS $#*!ING GARBAGE. ALEKS CAN $#*!ING SUCK MY $#*! I HOPE ANYONE WHO CREATED THIS GETS $#*!ING ANAL CANCER.

I don't even know where to being with this pile of crap. First of all I get making us do modules for the lessons we missed. HOWEVER the quizzes in between that can up to 30 questions is absolutely ridiculous. Since the "modules" are just me doing the problem over and over again until I finally get it all right is time consuming and trivial in of itself. But the fact that I can get set back from the overly long quiz and am forced to redo it is absolutely and absurd and ridiculous waste of my time. I've never seen a worse program set up in my entire life. This should be illegal.

My first look at Aleks was when I was in high school. Once I started using it, I knew then and there that this is a piece of trash and would only make hitting yourself in the head with your wall at twelve in the night as a good option. One thing that it does terrible at is explaining the problems to you. It will only make it even more confusing to you because of all of the nerdy words that it uses. Another thing that it does bad at is the knowledge checks. They shouldn't be necessary for people to do because it only makes you even more counfused on what you learned. If you are in a school that uses this, do yourself a favor and transfer to another school where you will actually learn $#*!

1. The way your teacher teaches the lesson, aleks has a new confusing way of teachin it.
2. Your teacher wants you to use it 2 hours a week.
3. IT makes SUICIDE sound better.
4. IT makes your teacher lazy.
5. IT makes your parents frustrated with your homework when u ask for help.
6.IT "teaches" you stuff you will never use in your life.
7. Teachers make you do it on Spring/Christmas break
8. They tell you it costs a lot of money and that your expected to use it alot.
9. They will lower if your grade if your bad at aleks.

My first look at aleks was in 5th grade, where my teacher was obsessed. It started out easy, with 3rd grade some reason. Im a pretty smart person so i got to 6th grade, i realized that it was terrible. SO FIRST SIN THIS THING HAS IS when i do it, the explanations are nerdy and confusing, SECOND SIN IS, why would they let u use a calculator, since isnt it easier to learn it without and without? THIRD SIN IS they taught me the whole 5th grade cirriculum. Now 5th grade math is BORING. THE FOURTH SIN SOMETIMES IF YOU GET ONE RIGHT, IT SAYS WRONG! THE FiFTH SIN IS wow, it expects you to get two things correct and know it? So how bout if you did the easy questions, and gives you a hard question on the knowledge check? On the knowledge check, also if you get one wrong, "please do the lesson again" UGHHH piece of $#*! Btw

If you find that your teacher is using this useless program, withdraw or drop your class, do yourself a favor and pick up a class that the teacher actually wants to help you rather than teaching yourself math. If a teacher is using aleks to teach you, that usually means the teacher is trash too. If you go through with using the program, do not expect an A, if you are really good at math you may be able to expect a B. The rest of us like me, an average student at math, you will be struggling to get a C. The program will quite literally send you into a state of rage multiple times a day.
