Imagine getting a whole lot of homework a day, then having 1+ hour(s) of ALEKS to do. It is just frustrating. When you get a question wrong it punishes you with more questions. It lowers my self-esteem so much, I have always had self-esteem issues, and this website just makes them worse. I have never felt more stupid than after doing an hour of this website. So If you are a kid who has to use this website, I'm sorry. If you are a teacher thinking about making your students use this... DON'T. JUST DON'T.
This school year I was excited because I was going in to 7th. But when Aleks was introduced I thought it was fine until well… it started getting hard I cannot go through one of the problems without having a mental breakdown and destroying my computer it drives me insane I'm stressed eating because of it and I am beating my computer so much. It has already redeveloped my anger issues again. Thank GOD that this school year is almost over. For children safety do not download this unless you want them to wind up hurting themselves or destroying expensive computers this app needs to be deleted ASAP and teachers if you see kids in your math class with anger issues it's probably because of Alex if you downloaded it. It is a burden for your children.
Ok let me paint the picture for you, you need to do 5 questions for the topic right? You do one, you get it right, cool you got 1 of 5 now, you get another right, nice 3 of 5 (for some reason), now you do the last one but you accidentally put a, instead of a. Well now you're at 2 of 5. Ok annoying but it's not that bad so you look at your answer, re calculate it and it's right so you think maybe the amount of decimals was wrong for some reason and you change it, again wrong, try again and wrong again, now the website taunts you with "you're answer: 305,67" "correct answer: 305.67" and also puts you back to 0 of 5. The level of frustration that this website gives me is enough that I just stoped doing my work because it's genuinely demoralizing to do an hour of work only for one question to completely get rid of all of it, please teachers don't use this website, it only takes away a student's motivation to do the work given to them (unless you only get 100's somehow but typos happen and the website is unforgiving)
I swear to god aleks is the worst $#*! to ever be made i'm so close to just dropping out of school somebody sue them for child abuse yall got the worst ratings and for good reason too genuinely the worst app i have ever had to use i would rather do a 4 hour long math class then do 1 Math topic on aleks schools need to stop using this as if anyone is actually learning from this insufferable piece of crap program and to Jean falmagne i hate you and i'm happy your wife left yo sorry self
Never ever use aleks math. It sucks. It is a horrible way to teach students math. I will never use this site again.
This website is actual garbage it does a horible job teaching you. During the knowledge check you don't remeber what you learned because the explanations are a piece of $#*!. The fact that this website can get a one star review is crazy. It dosen't teach you the explanations are crap and you don't learn anything. It is unfair to be in higher math level because it is harder to do more topics. I hope the creator of the website takes it down imedietly and leaves to go live on the other side of the world. He has caused so much pain and suffering.
I've been using ALEKS to study for chemistry and it has been the worst experience of my semester. Every so often there is a problem that is outright wrong. It's understandable that people make mistakes, but when it is wrong about a problem that takes 30 min+ to solve it's incredibly frustrating! In addition it subtracts progress from the module you're working on when you get something wrong. There is no way to flag a problem that has an error which adds insult to injury. This is a feature that is desperately needed. I hope no other students have to suffer through this program like I have. Definitely not worth $50.
A short review that attempts to stray away from the mindless stress-indulged rambling I have seen on many other peer-reviews.
This is going to be a short, technical overview of the site in as little words as I can manage.
UI isn't great, stutter issues and freeze-framing prevent certain user registries from getting put-in whatever class database your account is connected to.
Layout is complicated and messy, notifications go away after about ten minutes - along with this, tests and other "my path" assignments are jumbled, with no chonological order for which they have been put on the site itself.
Overall, it isn't that great. I'd suggest just... using Khan academy, it doesn't have as much technical issues as this one.
This site, ALEKS, appears to be a popular platform for teachers to automatically "teach" their students math skills. The issue is that whoever created this site likely does not understand math themselves. Kids have great growing minds, and the reason so many hate math is because teachers make them memorize instead of visualize. This site makes that even worse. It should include a diagram and some step-by-step procedure with thorough explanations to explain the diagrams. ALEKS appears to teach kids through its "explanation" feature, which seriously needs to be changed. There has been many cases where I have read the explanation but still don't understand the concept, and, of course, I see the yellow screen of terror on the next question because I have no idea how to solve it. Seeing that the site is popular, it is the responsibility for the developer to revise this to make a better learning experience for all who must go through this torture.
As a former educator, I know how hard it is for kids to wrap their minds around tricky concepts, such as Boolean Algebra or even the many uses of apostrophes. Growing up in the 1980's, ALEKS was not even invented. This, I tell you, is the story of ALEKS.
Contrary to popular belief, ALEKS was actually invented in medieval France as an exceptional potent torture mechanism. The platform was eventually abolished due to boycotts by the death rowers.
It was revived in 2005 by Joseph Gibaldi as a cash-grab. Teachers were attracted like flies to a midnight lamp. Years later, amidst the dystopia of the modern generation, the common public is subterfuged by such despicable, heinous softeware unfathomable. I hope, with all my withering heart that one may rise above the rest and defeat the Gibaldi, and save us all from the terror known as ALEKS.
Thank you for your time.
If you get a question wrong, it takes away your progress, so it can take like 20 tries to do a topic that says it requires 5 correct problems to complete. If you have 12 topics per week that can be more than 12 hours of computer work for very minimal learning. Once you finally finish a topic, you have to redo it if you make a small mistake in the knowledge check. Aleks should be taken down; it does not help students learn chemistry it just takes their time and harms their mental health and attitude toward learning.
Would give zero stars if i could. Truly a waste of life. Had to do aleks gen chem first semester of college and i literally changed my major to bio. What a nightmare. Absolute garbage.
I found that the descriptions are unhelpful. Though ALEX has a good way of testing knowledge it is difficult to understand the material.
Aleks.com sucks. Here is why. Aleks is supposed to be your perfect math level, but its not most of it is too hard for my child. The ones that aren't to hard are way to easy! Overall this is just a horrible education service. Glad the school payed for it.
After struggling in aleks for a while, i started to wonder what the reviews were and i am not surprised by the 1.24 review that is rating aleks. Aleks is literally a easy route for the professors. The way that the point system is set up is bull. When you start a new section, you get an example to go to the first problem in that sections to get a completely different style wuestion than you gat the example for and later find out that aleks did not give you the full instructions before starting the section. Further confusions starts to set in. I dont see how aleks helps anyone. Those few steps that they do, do not give in the beginning alters my way of thinking about the problem to the point i get confused and feel that there is no way to correct it. On My tests i know 90% of the steps, but from the little things left out that you have to go find elsewhere further makes things complicated. And furthermore you get 0 points for missing 1 answer on a 3 part answer. Needs to be removed. Improve the system or get rid of it. I dont even think professors go back and look at the answers from the tests. My teacher relies solely on Aleks, and if that is the case why does he even need to be the teacher. Really deserves 0 stars
Wow alex is one of the worst things ever because it makes people hut them selves witch we all know is not good. If it was a physical thing then it would be a dog but.
Whoever created this absolute $#*!hole of a learning software deserves to burn in hell next to Hitler himself. This website nearly caused me to search what pills in my house could kill me just so I didn't have to deal with the horrible program and straight-up painful experience of opening it. The fact that so many people have described the hellish depression that this website creates yet educators continue to assign 20+ topics a week is beyond me. In moderation, I could see how ALEKS could be helpful, but none of the courses are set up this way. Like literally maybe 5 topics a week would be a helpful amount, but when it goes beyond 10 it becomes a hellscape of depression and tanks your grade in the class along with all other grades due to how time-consuming it is. The main and most depression-inducing issue with ALEKS is the OBJECTIVE LEARNING CHECKS. They will literally ruin your entire grade and trash all of the work you put in to get where you are. After every single module/chapter you basically have to relearn everything and start over completely, with no mercy at all. This website makes me want to kill myself.
This whole website just sucks, the system of how you can get the work done has glitches and many times i just end up failing assignments because i click, it crashes, and then it counts that as the entry. Plus this program is frustrating with the system of just taking away every little point if you get one thing wrong and it just says fix it instead of giving an explanation of how you can. There are so many flaws and they should listen to the one stars they get. Also the use of 5 question quizzes just sucks in general, whats the point of a quiz if you get one thing wrong it will just fail automatically, whats the point of the other questions!? Please fix this aleks like i gotta deal with this for 4 more years :/
1/10. My college professors had me take this for algebra one this past semester and, oh my god, I'm not kidding when I say this program will cause you to want to drop the class all together. For every problem you get right, you get pushed back 1-3 for every one you get wrong. It sends you into a repetitive time vortex to the point that you'll never be able to finish a topic because the "explanations" it gives are really just mental gymnastics. If you use this program, use Mathway with it or else you'll never win. It's next to impossible to actually learn anything from ALEKS.
This site is a literal piece of trash. If I has 3 wishes my 1st wish would be that site doesn't exist. It doesn't help anyone and makes me want to stab my eyes out with a pencil whenever I am using it! The only reason why I do use it is because I am forced to buy my math teacher You learn nothing from it except that you need therapy from the trauma from using it.
I kid you not this program made me suicidal and also made me hate math even more. I need another sentance, but i just wanted to say this is the worst website on planet earth
Answer: Because the ALEKS program is literal hell and we people are just showing our hatred for it
Answer: Most likely.
Answer: Yes deal with it
Answer: Because people want to commit suicide in an original way, and ALEKS is the best way.
Answer: I don't think so but believe me a class action suit would be an improvement
Answer: I paid over $150 for this sumbi**h, I expect it to work
Answer: No i do not think the website owner has issued one but I think the feelings for aleks would be "down the toilet"
Answer: I realize this reply is very late but in case for anyone who needs it: -Let's say you're learning how to use long division. They have 3 questions in it. You master the first one, then go on to the next one. You get the second one wrong, guess what? They punish you and take back your first answer so now you have to answer it again. -How fun! And don't forget the useless knowledge checks!
