Easily one of the worst, if not the worst program I've used for math. For starters you aren't learning a thing doing 30 topics a day that unlock at a certain time and lock within 24 hours. People have a lot more important things going on in their life than ALEKS but it loves to try and be the most important. Topics should be available until the end of the week at least instead of locking and I don't think it should subtract progress on the bar for getting an answer wrong. Not to mention a good 20% of the time ALEKS is straight tripping. Overall a terrible program colleges need to hop off that ALEKS train because the
reviews speak for themselves, but I know we don't care about what the people say as long as we're making money right?

In fifth grade, I did not have Aleks and was getting all the sleep I needed and had enough leisure time. In 6th grade, I did not get nearly as much sleep or time for fun. I would cry because of the stress of getting things done in time and while I may just be lazy or a procrastinator, many other people who are not those things have said they also hate Aleks. Sometimes I wasn't able to go to things like youth group, a CHURCH event,(this makes me extra mad because church is very important to me and should not be interrupted because of school things) because of these stupid Aleks topics. I highly advise any teachers to not use Aleks, and to find something less likely to cause breakdowns in their students. As a student myself (as of me writing this), I feel the need to say that I would not like for other people to suffer as I am.

After 3 years of aleks I learned how to load a gun. I also Learned how to hold it to myself. I also learned what true depression feels like. This is the worst teaching website I have ever seen. It makes you go back to a topic until you get it right over and over no matter how hard the topic is. If you spend 20 minutes trying to solve the problem and get it wrong it will make that time for nothing. And after 20 or so topics you get a knowledge check which 9 out of 10 times sets you back 1 or 2 percent. Whatever dumb m0th3r F-ck3r said "yup lets use aleks" clearly did not look at the images below. If your school uses this website. Do not expect to be happy anymore and do not expect to learn math.

This sh1t is so bad its crazy, words cannot define this unbridled behemoth, the only f0cking 5 star reviews are talking about how they have depression and want to kill themselves with bleach. I personally think that i agree, ALEKS did nothing but horrendously damage my mental fortitude like no other. ALEKS is unchallenged psychological parasite, idk how you would make a math program this bad because i dont think i could do better if i tried.

Sorry excuse for an educational platform. Manages to punish people doing poorly and people doing well at the same time. If you are modules ahead of your class it still wants you to make the ridiculous time goals of the program. If you are doing poorly on a subject it fails to adequately explain it and then moves onto a different module. This might be the most contrived piece of garbage I have ever seen thrown together in the realm of education.

As a high schooler who just finished doing his aleks, there are some good thing and draw backs. When I was first assigned this in middle school I thought this was the worst thing in the world. In my middle school mind doing Aleks was the bane of my existance. Aleks has a punishing way of showing and grading. Each basic topic has three questions, where each advanced, or "test-like" topic is five. You can answer two questions to get twice in a row, but be prepared to be stuck in several hour long loops. Theres no leeway in its answers, so be careful with rounding and spaces. This part of Aleks definitly has painful parts, especially when it comes to reviewing for the "knowledge checks". Be prepared to redo somw topics you might have spent hours on. A good thing Aleks did would be its review and pacing. If you get a problem wrong, while it wont show a problem specific review, it will show a general review. These reviews overall are good, such as the ones on interval notation and their geometry ones, however some are less than that. Another good thing is that we, the students, can pick the topic you want to do. This can be great if your stuck on one problem for hours or if your sick of looking at graphs or numbers. Overall Aleks, while not worth some of these other reviews anger or hatred, will cause some pain and annoyance to all. My class did roughly 300 or topics so it covers a wide range, however it would be best to not have to do all of these skill, like the rounding for sig figs. To any students reading this, good luck! And to teachers just be nice when you assign or choose the topics!

Hate this app. Doesnt even teach math, just shows 2-3 problems and expects us to get it, when they dont explain the problem in a way that people my age can understand

The site is poorly designed and should be completely reworked to not be so punishing to students. As someone with adhd, the way of punishing the student by taking away progress or having us repeat lessons we struggled with at the very end, had left me feeling like I was stuck in an infinite any time I lost grasp of every single concept. The entire process should be reworked. The explanations for answers are vague and even feel rude at times with a passive aggressive tone telling us that, maybe next time we should read the explanation, followed by some unhelpful explanation to solve a problem with multiple steps being completely skipped. As a tip for any other students being forced to use this site, download a camera calculator as soon as possible.

If I could give this 0 stars, I would. I have learned nothing. This is the equivalent to torture via homework. This is a modern day torture device. I feel like this is what they use in dictator countries to make all their student perfect or for those that fail, a slave. I have 2 bacch degrees prior to using this for a class. I have never cried during homework, until now. I have never wanted to throw my computer out the window, until now. I have never wanted stoned, until now. If I need to have by blood drained by leaches while still alive to have no one else ever use this product ever again, I will take one for the team. I have spent more time working on ALEKS than I have writing all the essays in my lifetime, most of them were 5+ pages. For those that must suffer, I wish you luck!

Their explanations are short and confusing. You have to try and figure out on your own how they go to a specific answer. The videos provided also doesn't help. The test reviews confuses you on what you need to study for your next test, they don't give you the option to consistently work on specific problems until you feel comfortable. Any teachers that uses this website for classes are setting you up for failure. I completely despise this website for learning math. If I could give this website a zero I would have.

This webstie frustrated me soo much and made me spend hours on it. The explanations are poor and give limited help

This is the WORST site ever created. It makes everything harder than what it needs to be. One example would be if you get a question wrong it sends you back and you have to complete more until you get a certain amount right in a row but thats far from the worst! Knowledge checks are another annoying thing that makes get angry with this program because it you do not do to well on them it will sent you back on the previous topics you completed and do most of them over again. It's s almost like who ever created this program wants the user to have mental break downs. This program is not good for my mental health as time and time again it stresses me out more than the actual math class.

Biggest waste of time for learning I have ever experienced - if your class incorporates this drop it.

I've been having to use this app for 6 months now and it sucked. It is terrible at explaining the equations to me and won't explain how to solve an equation that it gives you but expects you to know. It also will expect you to simplify equations when it doesn't tell you to simplify.

I mean overall the fact that it takes away an answer every time you submit a wrong one leading to a string of wasting time is so absolutely $#*! that it makes the site unbearable to use I truly hope whoever thought that feature was a good idea loses their job and ends up addicted to crack on the streets of San Fransisco.

My friend nearly killed themself because of aleks. He got banned from his championship for not doing his knowledge check. I myself have been thinkin about giving up and i've come to the conclusion that its from aleks. Our wrists are scared from the pain caused by this heinous app and I warn anyone who tries this app. You will never be mentally stable after your third knowledge check.

Now, at first Aleks wasn't bad. But when your forced to do over 20 topics a week, and you have tons of homework, it sucks. I have straight a's in every class but technology. Technology is supposed to be coding, but it's freaking aleks! Plus, some of my teachers agree that aleks is unnecessary but my principle thinks it is actually important.

Teachers need to stop giving this to us. It doesnt help us learn anything and makes people loose braincells when doing knowledge check. DO NOT BUY THIS toxic website that doesnt teach you anything.

This thing gives me so much anxiety! It makes me want to kill myself. Honestly, this is like being in hell but worse. Whoever made this must loved torturing children
