When I put the answer in it does not work all the time and it is very annoying. The examples do not help so in trying to understand you have to guess the answer. Most teachers who use Aleks do not want to teach kids so they put us in front of Aleks
( sorry if it was bad)
Aleks makes myself and my classmates feel as if we can't ever be good enough. Aleks makes me want to kill myself. It puts so much stress on us students, it has genuinely given me suicidal thoughts more than just a few times.
This program is making me consider suicide the point system is awful, Whenever you get a question you get 1 point and if you get multiple in a row correct you get 2 points, However if you get a question wrong it penalizes you by subtracting one point. This system is causing me to go back and fourth without an end thus driving me insane. Another thing aleks is very, I mean extremely case sensitive & unclear on weather to round your answer. It never says to what place value to round or wheather to round or not at all. I am in the sixth grade and teachers rely on this program heavily. So if a teacher happens to see this (probably not) then do NOT give aleks to your kids and DO NOT make it a homework assignment especially. This program is causing me to consider suicide. If you are a teacher or institution looking for an online program, please for the sake of all that is holy avoid ALEKS it the largest waste of my time as a student. I learn absolutely nothing, there is no consistency in question type or answer response, and I end up frustrated and googling answers so that I can get on with my life. Whoever invented this hellish website is either mentally handicapped or has a sick sense of humor. Don't waste your time or money trying to learn anything with this program.
I do not recommend this $#*! $#*! website at all. Makes you start over your progress when you miss one miniscule thing on a problem.
I really wish I could give it a 0. Ive been in school for over 14 years now and this is by far the worst educational tool ive ever used. Before this class I had a great relationship with chemistry and the science courses I was taken, I was passionate and interested to learn and understand these concepts. But once my classes started to use ALEKS all of that interest I had in school has disappeared, ALEKS does not teach or explain anything. Ive spent hours on a single module having to restart over and over, meanwhile ALEKS is telling me to "take a break" having to literally restart your homework every 10 minutes while ALEKS mocks you is the single most infuriating thing ive ever experienced. Worst of all ALEKS refuses to explain anything to you it just simply tells you that you are wrong, if you want their extremely unhelpful half $#*! explanations you have to take a penalty and restart your homework. I wish that was all the bad things I could say about this tool but thats just the start. Every 30 minutes you dont input an answer ALEKS "times out" your session and you have to start again, some of the problems it gives you can take upwards of 30 minutes to complete, its the worst feeling ever when you have been working for a half an hour on a problem just to submit it and ALEKS says your session expired and you have to start all over. Lastly, ALEKS randomly locks your homework assignments behind "knowledge checks" that come out of nowhere and literally take hours to complete just so you can fill up a pie chart that literally nobody cares about. After just one term of using ALEKS it has single hand-idly ruined the passion and interest I had in my major and I am now considering switching because of how frustrating this tool is.
It is terrible it's an bad it is a not good it's a donkey balls bad it's been a horrible not a good plus a sussy gay cringe
I am a 6th grade student who uses aleks on a daily basis and from my personal experience with the site is the equivalent to hellspawn oh wait that's where it came from. This hellspawn is most likely to cause many all nighters because of the explanations to the questions being "screw you stupid" at best. Unlike a few unfortunate souls i haven't experienced any workload to mortifying as of now im kinda sleep deprived because of an essay while typing this out so expect some grammar issues. The progress system is monitored through a % wheel and the scoring system is similar to the dumpster fire that is ixl except the points are much easier to gain because the site adds an extra point every time you get something correct. You may be asking "what's so bad then" go look at xtra math and ixl reviews and there's a recurring problem. The site does not engage you at all. Great you got a question right but whats the joy other than knowing you're one step closer to get out of this hellhole. Basically aleks has the same problems of ixl amd xtramath. Its boring tedious and you only proceed with the motivation "it'll be over eventually" and that's no way to think so do yourself a favor and dot use this.
I am a student at a community college and I am trying to get my associates degree. This is without a doubt the worst learning website I have ever had. I haven't learned anything. I am fighting for my life to pass an an algebra 107 class. My grades are B, A, A-, and C-. Take a guess which class I'm almost failing. I spent the last hour and a half doing a SUPER complex type of problem. I had 3 of the 5 bars and finally worked through and finished my even more complex final problem and was so proud as I clicked the Check button. It paused for an extra second and then the progress bar turned red and slowly oozed back undoing massive progress. I tried again to no avail. I then proceeded to get hit with problems that I hadn't learned to do and watched my progress bar go to one. At that point I proceeded to click the wrong answer repeatedly because I had nothing to lose. After that I went downstairs to my heavy bag and hit it with speed and force that I did not know my lanky limbs were capable of generating. At this rate there will be only 2 options for my future. I will turn into Holden Caulfeild from the catcher in the rye or I will become an MMA fighter with my recently discovered striking power. For the love of anything good please do not put your students through this. We are 4 weeks in and have lost 6 of our 30 students already. It is a lazy way to "teach" a mass amount of students. So many people are experiencing burnout because of it and dropping basic math classes like MA 98 and MA 107. It is infuriating to work for so long just to not make any progress at all.
This "learning" system is garbage. My child struggles with learning disabilities and this program does NOT help one bit! I can't tell you how many hours he spends just trying to complete his assignments. What used to take an hour or two now takes him five hours on a good day! I had to spend money on this junk website due to COVID and school work going online and I really want my money back! This program doesn't even let the student review for quizzes or tests! Instead, it says "section already completed" and the reviews that do exist are random, and makes the student REPEAT whole entire pie sections AGAIN if ONE question is answered wrong on the random "review". Worse, if one question is answered incorrectly, rather than giving that same question again, another one is generated and completely different from the last! And the ABSOLUTE WORST part about it all is it locks students out of other assignments if other parts aren't completed. I am so SICK of ALEKS and watching my child get left behind because some garbage program can't teach jack. I will be bringing it up to the school board. Don't trust the "positive" reviews, most of those reviews have been paid for!
First year in college here. I'm at a very full university. The institution uses Alek for several math and science classes. You can fit a large number of students in a single class if they are taking Alek because "professors" don't have to teach students a single thing. The Alek program does it for them. Classes that rely on Alex feel like being dropped into a day care center. The "professor" supervises the class and tells students to get off there phones and that's it. TA's that are also students go around teaching students as they struggle through the hundreds of topics that Aleks requires. I payed to go to college and now i'm sitting in a computer lab using a terrible service I had to pay 100 dollars for because the public institution I attend is Lazy and Incompetent. Aleks is one of the most punishing learning interfaces i've ever used. Get a question wrong on a topic and it will send you back while turning the user interface red because you got it wrong. Do y'all understand how this feels psychologically? Reading reviews on this site I had no idea students in grade school are using Alek. If i was subjected to Alek when I was 10 I would probably have serious issues. The explanations are bland and often don't include a writing next to the step by step problem solving so if you aren't a visual learner then tough luck. My current class requires 245 topics in 8 weeks. Worst of all of these 245 topic only about 40 of them will be used on my final exam which has the most weight of anything else in the class. How do you study? How do you prepare? Simply make time to take a practice exam of a similar length. Which again. The topics on that are random and not identical to the ones on your final exam. Alek is a joke. The fact that schools support a system this critically panned is insane. Alek is terrible. Find out beforehand if your school or class you are signing up for uses it. Avoid it at all costs. Waste of time and money.
This isn't a joke, there are multiple kids in my classes that have serious mental issues from ALEKS. It takes up time, it pushes you back and is a very unhealthy thing to give to your students please if your a teacher think twice before giving your students 100 topics to do by the end of the week. It crashes alot, it creates a negetive space between the people who got a good score on the first test and don't have to do $#*! and the people who have to do so much just to catch up.
Im in 6th grade and this program makes me constantly stressed than ever before, seriously..
I can only do ALEKS for 16 seconds without rage quitting, and my math teach is forcing me to do it. (I wish I was joking, but I'm not)
Its just bad and I am simply continuing to type in order to get to the allotted amount of characters.
Honestly, when I was a few years younger I would have complained but I really don't care anymore so its kind of frustrating but I got the hang of it.
Alek is so bad and it loads so slow and there are a lot of too hard topics and I just hate this useless app ALEKS
I hate aleks sooooooooooooooooo much. I finally finish a topic and then boom knowledge check.I get one wrong and then i have to struggle all over again
Answer: Because the ALEKS program is literal hell and we people are just showing our hatred for it
Answer: Most likely.
Answer: Yes deal with it
Answer: Because people want to commit suicide in an original way, and ALEKS is the best way.
Answer: I don't think so but believe me a class action suit would be an improvement
Answer: I paid over $150 for this sumbi**h, I expect it to work
Answer: No i do not think the website owner has issued one but I think the feelings for aleks would be "down the toilet"
Answer: I realize this reply is very late but in case for anyone who needs it: -Let's say you're learning how to use long division. They have 3 questions in it. You master the first one, then go on to the next one. You get the second one wrong, guess what? They punish you and take back your first answer so now you have to answer it again. -How fun! And don't forget the useless knowledge checks!
