On SmartCustomer, businesses may not offer incentives or pay to remove reviews. Read more about our Review Guidelines and the process we have against fake reviews.
If I had done my research and read the reviews beforehand I wouldn't have gone with this company. As most of the reviews have stated, their communication or getting ahold of them is horrific. It took 2 days to get a call back and then a second time I waited on hold for an hour to talk to someone. Much of the information I was given about dropoff, ship times, and pickup was incorrect. I was told several times I needed to have my vehicle dropped off prior to 1130 Weds to be on that evenings barge. If I'd have known the odds of not making the barge, which is what happened, I would not have gone to the considerable trouble and expense to change plans to have the vehicle delivered 1st thing that Weds morning. I get it that things don't always go as planned and out of ACT's control but misinformation or lack of information was abundant on their part. It would be so easy to improve what 90%+ of the complaints are about this company, communication and/or customer service, but either they aren't reading these reviews or just don't care. I will be shipping another vehicle next month but will definitely be calling someone else.
During my research on best value, I found a reputable company that offered veterans and active duty military free shipping on personal effects in a vehicle. This made the cost of going with them significantly lower than the quote I received from Alaska Car Transport. As a veteran, I greatly appreciate their willingness to honor those men and women who are serving or have served their country. Therefore I called and cancelled my order.
Additionally, when I did make calls to discuss shipment question, pricing, etc., I found when I was able to get a person on the phone, the customer service agents were very terse and borderline impatient as if their paychecks depended on how quickly they could put customers on hold or hang up. For a specific example, I called *******828 and the call was promptly answered. When I inquired about an email address to provide "valuable feedback and customer insight to help improve their processes" per the email from Shopper Approved, I was quickly put on hold. After ten minutes, I disconnected.
ACT is a brokerage, not the actual shipping company.
I requested and received a quote for car shipping to Alaska. When I dropped car off at shipping dock, there were no ACT personnel present. No one to take payment, and no one to complete shipping papers. The clerk at the shipping company was very helpful and advised me of the previous complaints and issues with ACT.
When contacting ACT, I was told that I failed to complete shipping documents. I told them that there was no ACT rep there. The ACT REP ON THE PHONE BECAME THREATENING AND BORDERLINE VIOLENT. I informed them I did not want to do business with them and to return my car. The ACT personnel told me no, the car would be shipped whether I wanted to ship or return it. I had no choice in the matter. I called the shipping company direct and they told me that ACT has to authorize them to stop the shipment. ACT refused to return my car. Now Im told that I cannot get my car when it arrives unless agree to hold them harmless from any damage and sign a waiver. I contacted a local contract lawyer and she advised me to not talk with them until I inspect the car. ACT informed me I can not inspect the car until I sign their hold harmless waiver. They also informed me they will charge me $50 day for storage and dispose of car after 30 days.
This has turned into a nightmare. Don't make the same error I did. Deal directly with the shipping company and not a brokerage.
Called to get rate quote to ship enclosed trailer; was told they are only shipping cars and the customer support representative hung up on me. Very rude and unprofessional. I have no issue with them being unable to support my request, but do so in a professional manner.
Three things you can count on with this company. (1) Your vehicle will be transported as scheduled. (2) Your contractually agreed upon price will increase by 10%. (3) Communicating is impossible unless initiated by the company.
I called to find out information about them shipping my SUV from Alaska to Seattle. They provided all ins and outs about shipping with them. They suggested to book the reservation without obligation as long as I would call back before a certain date to make changes. 4 days later my wife found a cheaper and better company to ship our vehicle with. So I called them back to cancel my booking reservation and I was placed on hold more than 2 hours. Next, I had my co-worker call them from his phone and they answered instantly. I answered and told them I wanted to cancel my booking reservation and they started questioning why I was canceling. I told them we found a cheaper company and the agent was in denial and hung up the phone. I called back and once again no answer. It looks like they screen there phone calls. I went inside and called them from a different number and once again instantly they answered. I explained myself to this agent what had happened and he said I was the problem because I had already spoken to previous agents. I explained they hung up on me and asked him to please not hang up on me. He took my number to pull up booking and saw notes from previous agent that I had found a cheaper company. After this the agent hung up on me.
Very professional and kept me inform of the delivery. I highly recommend Alaska Car Transportation!
This was a great experience. You have transported both out kids car to college and we have been very happy!
By the way, I think you should start informing that the tank needs to be under 1/4 from the first conversation. That ended up being tricky for us with a car that has awesome gas mileage.
Easy to use web site. Thanks it worked great for us
Went off without a hitch delivered in tact on time the people were great, very long hold times though to get through if you need to overall they were great
Everything worked just as promised - happy and will use them again.
Absolutely horrible company to try and work with. Took me a week to get someone on the phone; they keep you in a phone loop, have a receptionist pick up once out of every 5 or 6 phone calls, and only after the receptionist sends a message to the booking manager does someone call you. Then, after a week of trying, someone calls, gives their name, says they can't help, then hangs up you. That's it. I call back to speak with a manager about the experience and the receptionist won't let me.
Absolutely disgusting. I have worked in customer service before and understand policies cannot be controlled by the employees. Their behavior was their choice though and they treated me horribly.
Generally good transport. There were some scratches on one wheel, which I touched up myself. Also a few minor dents above the left rear wheel well. The dents weren't noted at original drop off, but were noted on the truck transport report.
You all helped me get the job done even though we played phone tag.
Service was great, very accommodating.
Efficient
No problems
They were supposed to pick up the car at designated residence in San Diego county. On the day of pick up I was asked to drop it off at a different location and take an Uber back. It was a last minute hassle having to argue with the driver. Alaska air transport was one of the higher quotes I received Hoping the service would be better. It was always difficult to communicate with them as well. The car arrived in Anchorage on time and retrieving it was simple.
Lots of continued contact, was given a delivery date of 5/1 - after several calls on 5/3 we were told the truck was broken down with no ETA. Finally received the delivery of my vehicle on 5/8.
