Worst ever
October 20, 2020

Putbin a service request Aug 5th for our washer. I'm still waiting for a 4th repair attempt by the same repair company. They won't come until Oct 26.

I don't know what to add to this list of reviews. Every single negative comment I've read here ACCURATELY describes my own experience. The long phone wait times, the ineptitude of the agents, the underhanded way of exploiting a desperate customer dealing with a broken appliance, etc. etc.

They were finding every possible way to free themselves of any legitimate obligation to pay for repairs. Perhaps other warranty companies do the same but these guys are standouts.

These guys stand out for their non-existent work ethic. I'm not just talking about their "way of doing business". They lack any shred of decency. They will wait patiently for you to eventually give up on your claims and complaints.

I've seen other solid customer service where the company does all it can to make good one way or another and create a win-win. AHS seeks every opportunity to harm the customer financially and emotionally, until you eventually decide to cut your losses... And then they hit you again (with more insulting fees) as you exit.

Worst. Experience ever
October 13, 2020

Worst experience ever - I called to check if my water pressure regulator was covered and they said YES in the process they asked me where it was located and I told them on the outside wall of the garage - they scheduled a service call, but when the service man arrived he said it was not covered! I called AHS and they apologized, but that it was NOT covered, I complaint about them not telling me when I called - but too late I am being charged $100 service call for nothing. Then I looked at my contract in detail and in section e) number 4 under plumbing it specifically says that Pressure Regulators are covered! What a scam of a company!

Three contractors couldn't repair my dishwasher. Then, air conditioning went out. Tech wanted $350.00 because warranty didn't cover low freon. Wife sent him packing. Never opened up unit. I called a repair company, guy came out, compressor wouldn't run. Replaced 50 dollar starter capacitor, unit ran. Then checked freon with gages, all ok. Dont trust American Home Shield, poor contractors are used.

Pluming Service
October 6, 2020

This is by far the WORST company out there. You try to call and get someone in the Philippines that sounds concerned and promises to call back, and never happens ( called them now x5). Pluming company has come out 3 times is so inferior and does not fix the problem and can never get ahold of them either. I have been without a faucet for over a month and see no end to a finish. I don't know how they can stay in business, shame on them!

OUR 30 YEAR OLD DRYER NEEDED REPAIR/REPLACING. AHS WOULD NOT APPROVE PUCHASE OF A REPLACEMENT DRYER AND WE COULD NOT FIND THE NEEDED PARTS, SO THEY SENT US A CHECK FOR $10. YES TEN DOLLARS! THEN THEY CLOSED OUT THE INCIDENT REPORT AS IF THIS WOULD BE SATISFACTORY TO ANYONE ANYWHERE AT ANYTIME!. WELL, SMOKE WAS SPEWING FROM THE TOP OF MY HEAD! THIS COMPANY IS DANGEROUSLY INEPT, UNRELIABLE, CROOKED, LYING, STEALING AND NO GOOD! I IMMEDIATELY CANCELLED MY MEMBERSHIP AS THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THESE THIEVES GOT A HOLD OF MY HARD EARNED MONEY. SAVE A LITTLE EACH MONTH FOR SURPRISE REPAIRS AND YOU'RE WAY BETTER OFF THAN HAVING A RIP OFF WARRANTY FROM AMERICAN HOME SHIELD!

I was with them for over 15 years with multiple homes. Over the past 4 years, service has declined to the point where you have to wait over a week to get most anything fixed. First, they won't answer the phone, I waited on hold for 2.5 hours in the middle of a Monday last month before giving up. Then they don't just order a repair, first you wait 24 to 72 hours not including weekend for a tech to schedule an appointment. Then they come out and evaluate the problem even if you've told them exactly down to the part what is wrong, Then the tech returns to the office to submit for approval, then they reschedule for possible repairs if they have the parts. If you live in a rural area, good luck, they will just tell you "sorry, we don't have anyone in your area can you call someone to come out and sent us an estimate for approval?" That's not how it used to be. Then the contract clearly states cancel any time. Right, as long as you don't mind them sending you to collections for the balance of your contract, which is not at all what the contract says. As soon as you try to end the contract though is when you find out where all the telephone folks work, they call every 2 hours to get you to keep them.

STEALS YOUR MONEY
October 1, 2020

Horrible service! You can't get ANY PERSON on the phone - all automated - which I HATE anyway. They get your money up front for the contract, then $75 every time you call. AND you have to pay your $75 BEFORE they will even open a service request. THEN they send a yahoo out that says - that can't be fixed (oh yes a stopper on a sink that isn't working CAN be fixed-you any reputable plumber CAN replace the stopper) OR AHS doesn't cover that OR I've never seen that brand before I don't think I can find parts. Then you never hear another word back from AHS OR the service contractor. I want to demand my $75 back but I can't get anyone on the phone! I don't know why realtors recommend them - they are a waste of everyone's money.

Paid for nothing
October 1, 2020

Called AHS because electric outlets not working. Took them 20 days to tell us they had no one in area to do the work and we could find are own electrician. Had work done and they refused to pay for it and refused to reimburse $75 service fee even though they never sent anyone out. Told them I wanted to cancel policy and they said they would refund $75 but only if I didn't cancel. Cancelled anyway they said I would get a little over half what it cost even though I only had it 3 months. I'm not holding my breath until I get it.

As a property manager (or even a home owner), when you have an issue you should be able to speak to a manager in charge. I called multiple times and waited on hold for a long period of time and finally just gave up. I put in a request for a call back. The person on the other end was extremely difficult to understand and was very impatient and rude. When I asked to speak to a manager I was placed on hold again to wait... when a manager was not put on the phone with me, but the same difficult rep. After venting my frustration and her continuous repetitive answers of a manager is going to tell me the same thing... she hung up on me! I called back and sat on hold for over 30 minutes and gave up. There is nothing on their website allowing you to place a complaint or request a call for assistance for a dispute. If you reach reviews you will also see the numerous complaints of the worst customer service out there! To all who care... if you wish to have coverage of this type I recommend First American Home Warranty. They actually have a separate contract for rental homes and the service provides you with your own login and a much better line of communication. This coverage and their approach to assisting you here at AHS is a disgrace and they are simply robbing the American people of their money and presenting false hope of coverage for repairs and immediate service. Their commercials are better than their service.

Scam Coverage
September 29, 2020

American Home Shield or AHS is a Premium Collecting company that will NOT provide the repair coverages that
Their Policy provides. They use low end Repair Serviceing companies who refuse coverage and quote twice the standard repair fees compared to Servicers who are not part of the AHS Service provided network. After paying Premiums for Whole House Coverage for 15 years and the $75 Service Charge, the very first time that I required Service on a non-functioning Garage Door Opener, the Agents at AHS refused coverage claiming that the "Spring" was not covered by their Policy. The AHS Servicer, Total Garage Solutions, offered to replace the Spring and then proceeded to upsell an additional replacement of the Steel Cables which were perfectly fine, quoting a price that was very high. On contacting another Garage Door Servicer that was not part of the AHS network, the same repair was professionally completed at 1/3 the cost. American Home Shield is a SCAM. Based on my personal experience, I would NOT recommend anyone purchase their Contract. I just cancelled my Contract with them after paying 15 years of Premiums without even once utilizing their Service.

This is by far the worst company that I have ever dealt with. They replaced my leaking shower faucet valve with a non-equivalent valve. (The valve that we had before was able to control the volume of the water and the temperature but the one that they replace with was controlling only the temperature and it is always on maximum flow, which wasting lots of water and energy. In addition to that they left the hole in our bedroom wall without fixing it even though they promised me to fix the hall after they finish replacing the valve. It took them about three months to replace the valve. After lots of calls ( each takes more than an hour every time) and over six months so far of waiting for them to come and replace the valve with the correct and equivalent one and fix the hole that they left in the our bed room wall. On top of that, In addition to the $ 75 Dollars charge ( deductible) they insist to charge me extra $125 dollars ( they told me it was for the extra work needed to make the piping suitable for the new valve). I didn't see that extra work and ended up with lower configuration valve and big and ugly hole in our bedroom reminding us every day of our great mistake to trust this company.

THROWING AWAY YOUR MONEY!
September 27, 2020

You start contract with one price, then the price increases. If you have a problem, you wait and wait for their contractors to call you, appointment offered is always 3-4 days out. While you contend with your problem... no air conditioning, food spoiling due to frig out, can't use dishwasher or kitchen sink due to plumbing problems etc. STAY AWAY-

SCAM - Avoid this company
September 26, 2020

They are useless and hopeless customer service. Takes at least 1-hour to reach agent, call center is in Philippines, hard to communicate. They rarely transfer to US call center. Because of this experience, most of their vendors are inefficient (or looking for new business). Vendors come and fix partially, they AHS authorize only to fix temporarily (not to replace anything). Problem keeps repeating, they make money on contract fee and service fee, it's vicious circle. Over the period of time their service degraded so much, stay away from this company at any cost, deserves -negative stars.

Cancellation fee $60
September 22, 2020

I was debating whether to use AHS or stick with 2-10 home warranty. I signed up for AHS, and my sister, who uses AHS, had so many issues with AHS then once I compared 2-10 to AHS, I decided to stay with 2-10. It took two calls and three different repres to cancel, and I was charged a $60 cancellation fee. What a waste of money! I reviewed the contract with states an administrative fee - but does not state $60. Stay away from AHS.

Hot wate heater
September 18, 2020

Our hot water heater was broken, leaking badly. AHS contracor showed up, never shut off water to heater. Contractor never sent a quote for replacement. Cost out of pocket was $1000 for code complinace, etc. Ever add on was $85, even though pan cost $30 from Lowes. We wanted a cash out, AHS offered $250! Where can you buy a heater for $250? Nowhere. The contrcactor works on comission, never again. Thanks goodness the A/C didn't need fixing.

Where is my money?
September 12, 2020

I have been having problems with my washer/dryer and called for service back in June. It was making clothes I put in it dirtier than before being 'cleaned'. I had a service call on 6/11/2020 and then another service call when the first person did not know how to fix it. Then it was escalated to a supervisor at AHS and they told me to buy a replacement for the washer/dryer which I did on 7/4/2020 and I submitted the receipt on 7/5/2020. More than two months have passed and I am still waiting for reimbursement for the washer/dryer.

I have called at least 12 times (including the many calls for service) and waited on hold an average of an hour each time. I have been told many times that my check is "being processed" and will be done in 2-3 weeks, but that should have been done a long time ago. The latest I was told is that my check was canceled because they didn't know where I live. Yet they knew where to send the service people and the bills for the last 10 years.

Yesterday I passed the three month mark since my first service call. What do I have to do to get reimbursed for my washer/dryer?

Worst service
September 11, 2020

The worst customer service ever. Over two weeks and no ac. I have been lied to numerous times. They sent a technician and he gave a diagnosis. They requested a second opinion, same diagnosis and they still haven't fixed it. Never able to talk to a manager. Find another warranty company before using them.

Terrible Customer Service
September 10, 2020

Put in a service request for our Refrigerator Ice Maker July 2020. AHS sent out a Sears repairman 2 weeks later, he ordered a replacement Ice Maker. Three weeks later I had to call AHS to get Sears to come back and put in the new Ice Maker. The replacement Ice Maker was not the problem. After a couple weeks I called AHS again and told them the replacement did not fix the problem. AHS then called another repair company, two weeks later that repair company came out and diagnosed the problem as bad door seals. A month later I am still waiting for this repair company to get the door seals in and make a repair appointment for me. This morning, Sept. 10th, they finally called and said 1/2 of the parts order had come in, but they expected the rest of the parts in early next week so they made an appointment for next week to make the repair. I have called AHS 3 times in the last month to find out what is going on and when the parts would be here and when the repairs could be made. Each time I called I was put on hold, with hold times being 1 hour to 1 hour and twenty minutes. I left my call back number each time. Each time I got a return call and the Customer Service person assured me if we got cut off he would call me back, each time I was put on hold for 15-20 minutes while they supposedly called the repair company and the parts company, each time I was hung up on and each time I got no return call. WTF. Terrible Customer Service. Three months now waiting to get Ice Maker fixed.

Make a long story short, after several years of payment to AHS, when needed waited 4 weeks to schedule contractor with many calls to call center, hours of waiting and zero actual assistance, I decided I can't live also September without a refrigerator and went to buy a new unit which was faster than waiting for a technician. Can you imagine full family without a refrigerator in August! And these guys just don't care and provide zero return and support for the money you pay.
Do yourself a huge favor and look elsewhere for homeowner insurance.
