The attendant was very nice as I was calling for someone else however the AARP options for the elderly are truly dreadful — you've got to be on welfare or completely stupid as there's no intellectual stimulation outside of bingo and then there's the "friendship line" uff just awful — The AARP should just say there's nothing because this condescending stuff angers me to no end. So bottom line there's nothing
Half or more of the sh*t AARP presents does not even work. I have grown more grey hair trying to figure out how to make use of AARP than I have from natural stressors and acute depression. I am a young member having succumbed to the organization's predatory practices. I signed up for 5 years and fully regret that I even signed up for one. I think most scammers are actually kinder to users who are tech-unsure or unsavvy. WORST decision I made in my life other than an ABUSIVE relationship. Very little value, lots of spam, and lots of unwarranted time.
I paid for some thats worthless, no value. I have saved nothing Discounts AARP offer is of no value. Even when tried using on rental car, insurance service Most businesses dont even except AARP. When i did there was no discount. Based on the original cost. They have discounts for services that are over priced. With no With no savings of value. I have already Applied to not renew.Iv been getting so many telemarketing calls since i signed up w/ AARP. Dont waste your yrly fee.Ive gotten so many telemarketing calls since signing up.
Around 1982 this group lobbied congress to monitor and change pricing in the funeral industry. Since that time funeral costs in America have steadily risen. What they hoped would lower the cost of funerals and cremation caused increases in such cost. I have just come of age and joined AMAC.
Don't trust these folks
In November of 2017 we received a letter from AARP advising us that due to an actuarial re-look they applied for approval of a 23.1% rate that would happen over three years (10% per year the first two years and 1.75% the third year).
But, in real life the increases were
2018 Promised was 10% Actual was 13%
2019 Promised was 10% Actual was 24.9%
2020 Promised was 1.75 Actual was 1.75
Then in 2021 the increase was 26.7% and all this while the benefit increases have increased by about 5% per year.
My mom is 87 with half her faculties. I monitor her checkbook. She wrote another check to AARP. Sucks
Sometime back someone gave them my personal info with an address i have not had in over 20 years.
Then in 2013 a person signed me up without my permission.
That was canceled and a no contact flag was set. They could not remove my info even though the person had no right to sign me up.
April 2022 I get a card that seems to be active.
They said they can not remove my info even though I never wanted to join AARP.
So now they are sending me what i will call spam.
Seems to me like they are more into collecting info to sell.
I'm writing in regards to a claim I filed on my deceased father. I showed a burden of proof that before my father passed he wasn't able to change his claim to take my name off. I tried to submit everything which I felt was proof that fraud was done on his policy. I had proof my brother acted as my father to change the policy. I gave them messages, news articles, police reports and what medical records I was able to get. The time they say my father called and changed the policies he was suffering with Alzheimer and Dementia. They rushed me to get records that I had trouble getting when my Siblings didn't include me in anything. If it wasn't for my cousin my Father would have died and they wasn't going tell me anything. I ask AARP to listen to the recording which I wasn't allowed because I would known it was my brother who lives in Texas and changed them a year after I got back in good standing. The cremated my father I didn't get knowledge of that until after it was done. So I'm writing this review because I truly believe AARP didn't do their homework about the fraudulent activity that was done. So I write to say I did everything I could to honor with my father wanted me to do but because his other kids which never cared for me cheated me from my father. I want say AARP I'm not happy but through it all God sees and knows it all. I did this so it wouldn't happen to anyone else. So do I rate them a one because anymore can call and change policies without a password is crazy if I knew the outcome would have been the right decision I wouldn't have never taken insurance out with AARP.
May God bless everyone that looked into this case will this happen again it will I pray that don't happen again but I know it will.
Called them to start the process of the mortgage answered same questions and got put on hold to transfer to the person to start the application waited 45 minutes got hung up on called back answered the same questions they would listen to me. I told them I just answered them. But I had to answer them again. And then when I got upset was told I didn't meet they requirements. Not very customer friendly. Asked for a Manger got put on Hold and waited again got hung up on again had to go though it all again same question before they would even listen to me nuts give up going to get my mortgage with real people
Recieved offer to join aarp with 3 peice luggage organizer set as a thank you. They send a picture of what appears to be 3 piece luggage set. Problem is even the biggest piece you receive you can barely fit a pair of shoes in. Totally misrepesented items you receive as free gifts. I will not be rejoining and will tell all other people i know not to join as aarp has become scam artists of seniors.
Since joining AARP I've had to spend the last several weeks unsubscribing from emails that have resulted from them selling my contact information. Everything from oxygen to "silver" dating services. Just awful.
AARP has proven repeatedly that their focus is to receive money from the elderly for their personal gain while risking the health and wellness on the elderly. My elderly mother has spent countless hours attempting to receive her medication. Each agent misleads her falsifying that they are addressing her medical needs. I, too, have become involved in contacting the agency regarding my mother's medication and have received the same results. The higher ups are apparently supporting this toxic behavior since there is no accountability nor change when matters are reported. This experience is consistent. More than once, the agent has disconnected the phone call or sent me to the automatic system when they don't wish to assist. My advice is for seniors to order medications from their local pharmacy instead of any of the mail orders since they all have no regards for the seniors health. Their lack of concern for seniors receiving their medications upon receiving funds could result in the loss of life when the medication is used to sustain life. The only way to have your complaint heard would be to send a certified letter to the director and make copies prior to doing so.
I bought a long term policy 25 years ago thru AARP (MetLife) and have been trying for 4 months to get paid on the claim. I am now in Assisted Living after having a stroke and I need to call every week only to get excuse after excuse why they are not sending me a check. Save yourself a lot of time and energy and buy through another company.
AARP member who plan to take defensive drive online course from AARP, be advised that AARP's claim regarding that this is a four hour course is false (if you follow their instructions it is actually eight hour plus course) I have sent multiple communication to AARP to prove their four hour claim is valid - AARP team is not willing to demonstrate that this course can really be completed within their claimed four hours. AARP is basically NOT only overcharging its members for this course but also making false claim (as there are similar course available at lower rates). Now I believe that there are other programs promoted by AARP enticing its members, and cheating with their false and baseless information. If you plan to become a new member or renew membership please proceed with care and beware of their fictitious claims. It is unfortunate the AARP members and many Seniors are being taken for ride by AARP as most of us believe that AARP do not scam. I am definitely NOT renewing my upcoming membership which they are enticing with 5 year membership for $45 / one year for $12 (if you paid / are paying more than this please do not support AARP in their membership scam)
It seems like AARP is. Scam! How dumb are you to even try to get them act in your benefit. Have you seen your Medicare go up. Did you see an increase in your membership! You have to understand AARP. Dosnt care about you! Have you called About thier so called car insurance. Alot more expensive then what you get from an agent. Vacation prices Are higher medical is higher. Oh but you get that Free coffee and 10 per cent off in certain purchases. Wouldn't you rather have that in your retirement
Wish someone would have the balls to become a true advocate for Seniors!

This is a useless organization. After getting mailings for the last two years i tired getting a quote for home insurance in Sag Harbor. Oh, sorry, says The Harford, that is a "wind zone." and we don't insure there. AARP is good ror one thing... get 5 to 10 per cent off a cup of coffee. I'd give it zero stars but it doesn't allow me to.
I turned 65 a few months ago, so I need a Medicare Advantage Plan. I read and studied the AARP information that pointed to United Health Care, I enrolled, and got conformation for the application. I have been skeptical about AARP, but when the information seemed credible, I renewed. Then today, I got a letter saying I'm denied for coverage. I called the "help" number only to talk to a nice person trying to up-sale me. It makes no sense; I qualify, but I was told I need another paying plan for my own good. On Monday afternoon, after a beer or two, I'm calling to demand my membership money back (I'll be nice and not make it personal). I was right all along and should have known better! I looked online and found they have low ratings. Also, I feel sorry for these folks working minimum wage on the phone for billion dollar plus companies.
I have been with uhc for several years. I am getting older and needed to lower my co-pays. I got a rep. Fairly quickly. Who described other options. For only 24$ a month. I uppgraded to advantage 2. Co-pays lowered and 8ncreased my benefits. Steven and Jennifer were both really nice and Def know their jobs. Excellent service!
I got an email from aarp. I'm not 50. Do they have a sweepstakes? Did I win a sweepstake from aarp? Do I get like free dental and health when I'm 50? Was my name drawn from a hat or something like that? Was it a lottery? How do I cash it in?
Answer: I did not know AARP endorsed Suze Orman! That's disgusting! That woman ripped off so many others she needs to be barred from using the AARP website! PERMANENTLY! It's shameful that a woman would takeONE red penny from AARP or any other person in the world. She cheated people out of millions! For shame, Orman!

Answer: AARP is just not worth it to me. All the services and insurances they offer, are not a good deal. So they aren't doing me or my husband any favors.
Answer: Yes. The membership is together one account, The spouse and the primary get the same year/years.
Answer: Leonard, Keep It Simple by calling or emailing AARP with your question
Answer: I wouldn't signup with AARP for love nor money... and money is what it will cost you and you will get nothing, zippo, zero from them but a "run around" and junk mail. They are worthless.
