This site has given me so much after I thought I'd lost everything. Having a listening ear means a lot when we're going through a lot. The listeners here are very passionate about helping others and do it very well. I highly recommend this site.
I really like 7 Cups and I think it is the best for people around my age. (Teen.) Other than the fact that people seem to be deactivated all the time its really epic. If you read this and wanna meet up here is my listener name: DeceivedAYPListener
7 cups is a really great way for people who can't afford therapy to have a safe place to vent. I enjoy it very much. Being a listener is a great learning experience and it's really satisfying to make someone's day better even if it just for a while. Being a member is good because it is a great way to vent about problems. The only problem I have is the trolls on the website who send inappropriate messages.
I've had a great experience on 7 cups - everyone I've been in contact with has always been 100% positive and supportive, and it feels like a community. I volunteer as a listener on the site, and can say that the training is both adequate and allows you to be able to support someone through different situations.
This app is truly an outstanding help to so many people. Just talking is so healing. As a listener, it's incredible to be able to help others all around the world by simply listening and caring. The dark mode is also very effective. I recommend this app to anyone who needs moral support or likes giving it. :)
This is an amazing site. It is the perfect place to talk to people when you are down in a dark place, or when you are in need of someone to talk to. It is also amazing because you can become a listener and help others. I am both a member and listener on this site. I love to be a listener, it gives me a sense that I am helping people out who need me, or just they need someone to be there for them. I have helped so many people and it makes me feel so good to know that I have made a difference in people's lives. I would recommend this site to anyone in a dark place, become a member to be comforted by myself and other listeners. I would also recommend it for those who want to make a difference in the world, one chat at a time. It's an easy site to use and fairly safe. Please come and join the 7cips family, we would be happy to have you. :)
I joined about a week ago and ranted to a listener. The listeners here are all trained and I felt understood talking to them. I got inspired to volunteer as a listener myself and have listened to a lot of people, which feels incredibly fulfilling and satisfying. It has really sharpened my social and listening skills, and I feel like I even know myself a bit better by listening to other teenagers share their problems. Its such an easy yet effective way to do some good in this shi*thole of a world.
Everyone has their bad days, and as I believe so do the 7 Cups, but receiving support and compassion free from listeners who had direct experience of the issues would be a great help. And also, for further support, professional listeners/therapists are available to help you out after paying a little amount which is affordable. As a listener working on 7cups for over 3+ years, the reviews I get from my members(the people who come for help) are my strengths, they helped me with my success, and brought a change to my life.
It's not surprising that you don't need a identity to get help from Cups, as you are mostly welcomed to sign in anonymously.
As far as my viewpoint is concerned about recommendations, it is highly recommend, but there may be some listeners who might not be the best for you, as they are not professional, but though, for the betterment, 7cups offers multiple trainings on different mental health topics for listeners to improve their knowledge and skills like active listening. If the listener you got connected to is not good for you than you've the option to connect with another one and continue getting support.
I joined 7 Cups to help with childhood traumas and after spending 4months on this site I came out feeling worse than ever before, mainly due to horrific listeners. I complained countless times about being lectured on how to "get off my $#*! and do something " (actual words!). The site is a total fraud, they purposely use garbage listeners to steer people into paying for 7Cups own paid professional therapists, this site should be TAKEN DOWN for causing MORE harm than good to people!
A lot has fallen apart in my life over the last year and I don't want to bring down the people in my life but I have been very lonely. I discovered 7 Cups and it's been a literal life changer. Always having someone to reach out to to is keeping me sane. Thank you to the generous listeners who make time for people like me. You have no idea the difference you're making.
7 Cups changed my life! I am so thankful to have found this amazing website. I started by looking for help and found myself offering help to others. By being kind to others I learnt to be kind to myself. Thank you 7cups.
So much helpful and an amazing opportunity to provide/ seek mental health support, equipped with best listeners, training guides and and an amazing support system
When you log onto 7cups, it's like stepping into a world of peace, joy, positivity, emotional support, creativity, awareness, care, love, kindness and the list goes on and on, comprising of all good things. As a listener on 7cups, my journey has been insightful. 7cups has taught me many valuable skills that I need to have. Mental health is a very important topic and 7cups brings awareness unto many, many mental health topics. Constantly being worked on and researched, 7cups never ceases to provide more and more essential information about even topics that haven't been discussed much in general.
Aside from being the No. 1 place for emotional support, 7cups also offers a wide range of courses with certificates provided. I love the way everyone is encouraged to join communities and group support chats. There's nothing better than a sense of belongingness and growing together. Not to mention the creative activities and celebrations that take place every now and then! You can never go wrong with celebrating positivityI would say 7cups can help us grow as individual people, as well as together as a community.
Talking to a listener on 7 Cups of Tea is so easy, it's like I start chatting and they just accept and listen to you no matter what you are talking about! The conversation flows so smooth because the listeners I guess like know how to talk to someone, and it makes me feel better for just having someone talk to you!
As a mom with a full time job I dont get a lot of time to talk to people. Without the time in my day to drive to my therapist or even sit down for a while. 7 Cups has really helped. I can vent or connect with someone on the online forums. Getting a good listener feels like talking to a good friend. They are very warm. Thank you Seven Cups!
I personally found the website very helpful in terms of getting emotional support. There is also a lot of helpful information and resources on active listening which I find pretty much awesome.
I have been involved with 7Cups since 2014. I have grown a lot as a person in my service there. There is a clear expectation created in the training and by reminder prompts that it is important, above all else, to keep yourself safe. I am giving 7Cups 3-stars (as of April 2021) for the following reasons--because they decrease my rating from 5-stars:
1. The site can be slow loading chats from the chat menu and can have issues with the scrolling features within a chat. Across various browsers (Chrome, Safari, Firefox) and platforms (MacOS, WindowsOS, iOS) scrolling up and down a chat often lags, is unresponsive, or scrolls seemingly at random. This has been an issue for at least the last year or so.
2. Most guests and members that I have chatted with seek advice. People need somewhere to go to find advice because the listeners are not qualified/authorized to give advice. The self-help guides are not easily accessible anymore, and guests and listeners are not shown them at on-boarding of a new account. Because of this, guests and members easily fill like they aren't having their needs met. The long-distance and anonymous nature of the 7Cups platform poses a challenge to developing emotional connections between people as it is. Not providing an easily available bank of advice links to share to guests magnifies this problem. Listeners need to meet the guests where their needs are. Listeners need a side bar with advice links or support options to share/use during the chat.
3.7Cups has been used by people who directly seek chats that are primarily sexually gratifying. While there is a clear level of complexity to the potential rules regarding that, I wouldn't want my children seeking help on 7Cups as it currently stands until they are well over 18 yrs old. Human beings are sexual creatures. There needs to be some effort (whether explicitly or using principles of applied social psych) to channel sexual traffic on the site in a more positive way. Usernames have been very frequently customized to be sexual innuendos.
These 3 things are heavy negatives, but there is still meaning created on 7Cups for many people. I hope that 7Cups continues to improve and generate better mental health worldwide.
7Cups is an amazing website that I have been a part of for just over 2 years and it feels like my home. I also recently became a listener which has been going really well. There is always someone to talk to if you need support whether that is a listener for members who need support, chat support for listeners if facing problems during a chat, peer support for listeners who have had a difficult or triggering chat or a mentor for listeners who need some extra help with being a good listener. I would definitely recommend 7Cups. It can sometimes feel intimidating with the rules but they are there to keep us safe. I particularly enjoy using he group support rooms (particularly Sharing Circle) to make friends, give support and get support from other users.
Being a listener is an extremely rewarding form of volunteering and I look forward to listening to people on the site! Great way to learn more about active listening and mental health too.
Answer: It's a legit company! Definitely not a scam :) In my experience, I've been on as both a listener and member, it's not a scam. We're trained & take courses (as listeners) to best support members. Each listener is different, as is each member, so there may be bad experiences with one listener or vice versa. We have therapists we can ask for advice or refer people to as well.
Answer: I would suggest that any person seeking true authentic assistance NOT visit this site. It is unsafe, damaging and narcissistic and does NOT offer true help or support in any way
Answer: I would imagine that there are many other sites that are BETTER than 7cups
Answer: To send one-on-one messages, you should be able to just click on the text box and type in it. I find it's harder to use on mobile browser so if you're doing that, maybe try switching to desktop. Otherwise, I would just wait a minute or reload the page, it lags sometimes
Answer: You sure can! This is actually a very helpful feature on 7cups
