Yelp Reviews Summary

The company's reputation is significantly marred by widespread customer dissatisfaction, primarily concerning its review management practices and aggressive advertising tactics. Many users express frustration over hidden reviews, perceived extortion for advertising, and a lack of genuine customer support. Positive aspects are scarce, with some customers appreciating the platform's potential for connecting with local businesses. However, the overwhelming sentiment reveals a distrust in the company's ethics and practices, leading to calls for accountability and transparency. They made unauthorized charges for my business that's not open yet. For that reason ALONE, I will never sign up with them again and stay with Google. Yelp most definitely is money hungry and should be avoided if you don't want unauthorized multiple charges to your bank account. Never again for life. Hope it was worth it.

UNETHICAL BUSINESS
May 28, 2023

If I could give zero stars I would. My experience with Yelp has been incredibly negative. As a business owner, I set up a yelp account eight years ago I have been harassed by Yelp employees, hung up on, when I refused to advertise with them. When I asked them why my reviews were not approved from legitimate customers they could not give me a direct answer. I have asked them not to call me, text me, or solicit me anymore yet they continue to do so. I continue to get emails and calls from new account managers who are honestly harassing and rude. I am not even sure how this company can continue to operate. Customer service is nonexistent. I cannot say enough bad things about this company. Beware.

Yelp is the worst thing that ever happened to small businesses. They allow fake reviews even if you prove the review is from an ex, ex employee or a competitor. They don't care. Just give them money. They're own review on their own platform is one 1 a 1/2 stars. There's over 7000 businesses in a group on Facebook about Yelp and at least 20 more per day. Yelp exposed.

Avoid Yelp like the plague. Do not engage. Do not encourage your customers to engage, do not even check your business' profile on Yelp unless you use the Tor browser. Yelp has dug their own grave and is becoming obsolete, let's help that along.

We were basically harassed by yelp several years ago via phone calls and emails with a very hard sell tactic. We were offered to have the positive reviews moved to the top and negative reviews removed and to have our competitors adds under our review removed if we would pay for them to build us a page at an exorbitant fee along with a high monthly fee. We did not fall for that line of you know what, it was obvious they were not using transparent and ethical practices.

If you are contacted by Yelp, put them off as long as you can. Say 'I'd love to talk but I have an important meeting in 2 minutes' or 'now is not a good time' -- 'call back 2 weeks from now' etc. Give them the run around big time. Finally, if you must, be kind but convince them your business isn't the type that needs online reviews. Worked for us.

We haven't even looked at our Yelp rating in literally years. We just don't care bc we knew ppl would catch on that Yelp was...how can i say this without getting sued? Not using best practices from a business ethics point of view. Some people call their business practices extortionist. Copy right, Corinna Fritz 05/22/2023

I had many positive reviews, and one bad one I proved with many items it was done fraudulently (video and message by reviewer saying they left false info to blackmail free services for them). Yelp asked me to pay $400/month to have them do marketing for me and I said no, then suddenly the positive reviews were gone and the one bad one they previously acknowledged as fraud & were going to remove was left there permanently. I was called by yelp and told if I wanted the good reviews back and possibly the fraudulent one gone then I would need to pay a "recovery fee" to restore them and an ongoing maintenance & marketing fee every single month! I refused. I then found out through many people that they tried to leave positive reviews only to find out their reviews were not accepted and they could not! So my good reviews were taken down, the fake one left, and no good ones can post if I won't pay them every month!

When our business first opened they wanted to charge us to correct the address and sign up for a pricey Mapquest account (nobody uses Mapquest these days) before they would give the correct contact and location information. They called and emailed constantly for months and refused to publish the correct information for almost a year. Our first Yelp review was then by a patient that no-showed numerous times, then yelled expletives at our staff and threatened us and then was asked to seek care elsewhere (he was never a patient/client of our business). Yelp has allowed his multiple long and false negative libelous reviews to stay on their site, stating that the information may be relevant to other people in his situation. If not for internet protection laws they would be legally liable for this.

I received a $300 credit for yelp so I decided to try it out. The $300 would only cover barely 2 months and was a real hassle trying to navigate the site! They failed to email me to get business ads started because they said I need a business license and in Oklahoma in my industry there is NO licensing needed besides my llc and insurance! You would think they would know that information! The guy was rude on the phone because of my dislike of yelp and was not helpful at all! I will not advertorial yelp! Ever! It cost me valuable time wasted on losers!

I recently started my own business and had people test the product and told them if they would like to, to leave a review so that we start generating before the grand opening. Yelp decided to take down half of my reviews to the "Not Recommended" section because they think that they are false reviews. How am I supposed to build a platform when you are taking away real reviews?

Messed up!
April 21, 2023

April 7th of 2023 I was searching for a mobile mechanic and I came across a mobile mechanic on Yelp. I contacted this mobile mechanic through Yelp because he didn't have a phone number listed. I told him the problem with my car and he told me he ordered the part and that it would be in in one week. So I waited the week. He picked up the part one week later and then called me to tell me that it was the wrong part and he would have to order it again. At this point in time I gave him one star because I was a little frustrated I needed my car he got angry said he wasn't going to work on my car because I gave him the one star I told him I was waiting 7 days for my car for a part that I can get in two days which he denied could happen so I call the auto parts store and I ordered the part and they told me it would be there in 2 days. The mechanic changed the name of his business page on Yelp to my name yes it's true then he changed his name on my comments to my name yes it's true I contacted Yelp to have them remove this page because not only was this guy kind of psycho he had my address in my phone number Yelp returned the email to me chastising me for some of my comments even though this psycho changed his business page to my name and it still is not removed. Yelp threatened me! I will never ever use Yelp in any way shape or form again.

Yelp stole money out of my bank account
April 20, 2023

Do not give your credit card number to YELP! Small businesses be ware! Yelp salespeople relentlessly harassed me with calls and voicemails trying to get me to buy Yelp ads for my business. I finally tried it for an ad cycle or two and got exactly 0 leads after running Yelp ads for months each time.

Moreover, Yelp then hid ALL of my reviews (which were all 5stars) so that my business went down to 0 stars. So I cancelled all my Yelp ads and got a confirmation email confirming that I no longer had any Yelp products running on my account.

And yet, Yelp kept charging my account monthly without any Yelp products running on my account. They just decided that they had my credit card number so were going to keep charging it regardless. I had to set up a stop payment with my bank account to prevent the continued fraudulent charges. I spent hours a day calling Yelp and not getting through. On the few occasions when I did get through, the customer services agents I spoke to would look at my account, confirm that the new charges must be a mistake, and assure me that they are escalating my case to the account manager who will call me and refund the charges. Every single time it was a LIE.

I've been calling Yelp customer service for a month and every time I sit on hold for hours. When I finally get through I am lied to over and over again as they say all the right things but then no "account manager" ever calls me, nothing is ever done, and I never get my money back.

As a self employed private music teacher, I don't have a lot of extra cash to burn. So when Yelp steals money my account and refuses to give it back it really hurts me financially. I can't even imagine how many other people this has happened to.

There may be nothing I can do to make Yelp pay back the money they stole but at least I hope this review will warn other small business owners who may fall victim to Yelp's predatory business practices.

Stay away from Yelp!

YELP to avoid
April 19, 2023

This company should no longer exist because it causes harm to companies and only seeks to extract money.
They purposely remove real good reviews to downgrade the company rating and then contact you to offer to advertise you.
It is neither more nor less than theft.
In addition, many companies buy good YELP reviews on the networks, while their service is bad for getting good ratings. They deceive customers in this way.
When you identify a company that cheats like this, and it's very easy to identify, you put it in a review, YELP deletes the review automatically, because YELP can't identify these types of scams and do the hunt for dishonest leaders.
Above all, YELP doesn't want customers to realize that their review site is unreliable.
Absolutely avoid YELP and rely on much more serious sites like GOOGLE.
When you tell YELP that you don't want to appear on the site, they say the information is public.
But from there to them hurting you by deleting a lot of good reviews to lower the rating and take money from you making you think they're going to help you by advertising for you, it's a roundabout way of extracting money.
They deserve to be sued by associations of entrepreneurs.

Yelp recently took down my negative reviews of a very disreputable company that is ripping people off in my community. Even when I produced evidence for my reviews, Yelp still refused to repost them. It appears that Yelp is more concerned with possible future advertising deals with these dishonest companies.

Yelp is involved with racketeering & extortion of businesses and needs to have a class action suit against them as well be federally investigated and have charges brought against them. If your business doesn't buy into their marketing they will flag and hide any of your positive reviews and will create or add negative reviews only to your account to purposely harm your business. Adding it to maps & search engines without your permission to drop your views and disengage business from coming to you. As well their agents will continually call your personal number and harass you to pay for their advertising to supposedly get your image back up. They will call & email your business as well multiple times a day harassing you employees even if you tell them not to call again. This is buy far one of the most manipulative corrupt racketeering extortionists companies I've ever seen. They also will not let you remove or delete your account or information. They will violate you companies name trademarks and any other information they have on your company or you personally and add it to your profile even if you erase it. They will also go to lengths to find anything online on your business it's photos, trademarks etc and upload it to their site themselves to further damage your companies name and integrity and will not remove it. Engaging with this company would be the worst thing you could ever do to or for your business.

A disgruntled client made a long list of accusations against my company (Hot Tubs Galore). EVERY SINGLE THING they listed was 100% FALSE. NOT ONE of the things mentioned was true, and I can easily prove that it's so. Plus, the review named me personally and called me "disgusting". I flagged the ad due to the personal assault on my character and the fact that NOTHING in the review as true. Yelp replied that "after careful investigation" [I call Bull$#*! on this], we decided not to remove the review.
Shame on Yelp for their laziness, negligence to investigate, and lack of integrity.

They will allow or promote people who have never been to your business to leave a bogus negative review to be up forever and positive reviews from legitimate customers to be hidden if they are not "Yelpers", whenever they call trying to get me to advertise with them I ask them about this situation and am told that it is some kind of automated deal that they have no control over, I would say no-one wants to be accountable for the way reviews are posted, because of this I would never do business with people like this, you have been warned.
