The company's reputation is significantly marred by widespread customer dissatisfaction, primarily concerning its review management practices and aggressive advertising tactics. Many users express frustration over hidden reviews, perceived extortion for advertising, and a lack of genuine customer support. Positive aspects are scarce, with some customers appreciating the platform's potential for connecting with local businesses. However, the overwhelming sentiment reveals a distrust in the company's ethics and practices, leading to calls for accountability and transparency. Overall, the feedback indicates a critical need for Yelp to address these serious concerns to rebuild trust among its users.

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE - and not believable!
Worst customer service. First of all, you can tell that they are working from home. You can hear distractions. Second, they are abrupt and impatient with you and downright insulting. Third, listen carefully as they are double talkers. They have a line for everything. Clearly they don't enjoy their jobs so why are they doing them? What happened to the Great Migration? Can't they find something else to do that doesn't turn them into lying zombies? Is that how they like to spend their 8 hours a day?
Yelp is untrust worthy. They are selective and do not post all posting submitted to them. Giving a false rating of business being reviewed.
Yelp is the biggest scam against business owners. They will not delete my personal information off their platform. Do not give this company any of your personal info. They will do as they wish with it.
Been going to Lees for years. Today, my son went, we paid $ 42 for three hoagies an a salad. The turkey and roast beef hoagie had OnePiece of turkey and at most two slices of roast beef. It was awful! I called to complain and was told that's how it is. I told the " manager" that this was our last visit! I am 71, have loved lee's since I was five or six. To be kissed off like that, left me no choice but to write a review.
I understand prices have gone up, but I certainly expect more for $11….
It's unfortunate that Yelp does not allow Business owners to challenge reviews that were posted by competitors to simply leverage ratings. I beleive there is actually a federal law about this and I will look into it. Shame on Yelp for not allowing a business to challenge a bad review or take it to arbitration. Interstingly enough I hava an A+ rating with BBB and 5 stars on google but yelp sucks for vetting who really posts reviews. Nothing further!
I would like to alert the public of the UNLAWFUL-STEALING THEFT of my personal property-brand new bike by the proprietors: Ms. Johanna Salvo and her daughter Sarina Salvo. I rented the 3rd floor apartment unit for a short-term stay and I stored my brand new bike in the basement. Shortly after four months I made arrangements to move. On the day of my move, I was not allowed to open the basement doors to collect my property brand new bike. The proprietors have stolen my brand new bike and they currently still have my bike in their possession. I have reported them to: BBB. Local law enforcement and I have made numerous visits to attempt to collect my property-bike and they refuse to allow me to collect my property bike, BECAUSE I EXPOSED THEIR ILLEGAL ACTIVITIES. My bike is CURRENTLY IN THE ILLEGAL POSSESSION OF THE CAPTAIN SIMEON POTTER HOUSE. While at the Captain Simeon Potter House, I experiences the ILLEGAL INVASION OF MY PRIVACY peeping into the bedroom where I slept by the proprietors daughter Ms. Sarina Salvo and her girl friend. I reported the issue and posted it to alert other single women staying in the third floor apartment of the CAPTAIN SIMEON POTTER HOUSE. The proprietors asked me to DELETE THE INFORMATION FROM THE REVIEW AND WANT TO KEEP THE PEEPING A SECRET, THEY REFUSED TO RETURN MY PROPERTY AND HAVE ILLEGAL POSSESSION OF MY BRAND NEW BIKE.
Terrible company! I have a small business and the Yelp company always tries to give me problems. The app is terrible, the ads are expensive and ineffective.
They always charge more money for advertising
I have been a customer of YELP for many years now. During all these years I experienced many problems with their customer service. If you are calling to buy services, they are all laughter and they treat you like the king of the hill. But if you call for customer service or technical support for help, that's when the problem starts. They are rude, condescending and in a nutshell, horrible. If you can avoid this company, do so.
Yelp, tis the worst company I have ever met. They say that they make the Rating organic, while at the same time they remove reviews that are from customers with a high rating, but leave with a bad rating.
I don't believe any rating of any businesses, because I left a couple good reviews for business, and they don't post them. This is terrible company, and I hope they will enjoy out of market soon. They only make worse for good businesses. They lying a lot, for business owners, charge a lot for no results.
If you still believe Yelp I wish you to not do that anymore. I don't usually leave negative reviews, but in this case I think this is honestly.
Tried working out something on a bill that is super old of mine that we actually don't owe so I can spend 10x's that amount and no one really cares to help. Its the craziest thing, but I guess thats what happens when you're just too big.
They allow companies to buy reviews every time I put a rate about a bad experience. I get an email from yelp telling me the review don't meet the guidelines. I don't trust a company that allows companies to pay to have reviews removed.
Buying a new car with NO (zero) MSRP markup in today's market is difficult to find. However, this can be accomplished at Elk Grove Toyota. I began by speaking with the internet salesperson, Kayonie Chanphanan regarding the purchase of a Rav4 Prime Hybrid. Kayonie phoned a few weeks later advising me that the car was in. Kayonie provided excellent customer service and follow up. Then, I met with both Jim Blacksten (sales manager) and Izea Speer, Sales Consultant. I have to admit, I was a little skeptical as I drove over expecting some gamesmanship on the part of the dealer. I kept waiting for the bait & switch which never came. Izea completed the majority of the paperwork and was extremely knowledgeable and pleasant to work with. We completed the transaction with the help Suelee Saepeune from the finance department. Suelee was very helpful and made the process a painless one. The team at Elk Grove Toyota is the BEST. We will definitely be back in the months to come to purchase a second vehicle.
I wrote a review of a sleazy lawyer and somehow he had Yelp close my account! Earlier that day, someone tried to hack my Microsoft account. Might have been them. Or the lawyer. Pretty coincidental.
Today I tried ordering about $32.50 in small lightweight merchandise from Amazon.com; before the check-out i opted for the Prime Membership 1-week trial for $1.99. However, when I attempted to complete my order, Amazon had the unmitigated gall to try to ADD another approximately $34.00 IN BOGUS shipping charges to this order; instead of the free shipping which I would expect from paying for the 1-week Prime membership. Of course I immediately cancelled this order; and further, also immediately canceled the Prime 1-week trial membership. THEN I checked my bank account to find out the AMAZON had gone into my account and taken about $2.12 for the BOGUS Prime trial they just attempted to SCAM me out of with OUTRAGEOUS shipping charges which under any other circumstance with any other business would have been possibly about $10 maximum. When I had to waste my time calling Amazon Customer Service, first the phony computer voice put me through HELL... insulting my intelligence and taking several frustrating minutes of my time before finally transferring me to an agent--who additionally attempted to waste even more of time running me around in circles ALL in order for Amazon to credit my account for the $2.12 cents they SCAMMED me out of by adding on about $34 in BOGUS shipping charges which was in complete and stark contrast to what one expect from Prime's FREE shipping pledge. BEWARE OF THIS AMAZON BAIT & SWITCH SCHEME!
Yelp offered me a free promotion for my very small computer repair business and then when my promotion expired they continued to bill me hundreds of dollars at a very high $5-11/per click rate which is cleverly generated through their automated system with no way to verify the authenticity of the traffic: They claimed my business had 100+ clicks and 10+ physical contacts, none of which was True because I received ZERO calls and ZERO business. I called them to dispute the charges and after insulting me on the phone for 10 minutes (extremely unprofessional) they outright refused to remove the charges and worse, my own debit card from their payment system. They literally held my debit card hostage, and attempted to bill my card multiple times forcing me to cancel the card. This company is horribly abusing consumers like me, and I do not recommend anyone to purchase services from them. Yelp is a VERY corrupted organization. You have been warned.
This company supports malicious reviews violating business employees' personal privacy. Communicating with them is similar to communicating with a brick wall. A "Billion Dollar Bully", nothing more, nothing less. I hope their karma will catch up with them soon.
A couple years ago I was running my own professional services business, and doing really well. I had over 20 5 star yelp reviews in the first year. All of those reviews were "not recommended." All of them.
My calls to customer service were met with this line: you paid for them to review your company, or asked them to review your company. No I didn't.
"No I didn't," is not a response they hear when a business is accused of asking their customers for reviews. There isn't an explanation they understand, or a reason they can give for making this determination. She just said the algorithm figured it out. The algorithm is never wrong.
She said I should put a yelp review icon in my email. I said, isn't that just asking for reviews? "No," she said. Well, that's that. Put an icon in your email, and you get "recommended" reviews, don't put one in, and your reviews are "Not recommended."
Is Yelp going to pay me for advertising their services on my email? No. They also offered services for 3 months. I said do one month, and if it's working, I'll continue. Nope- 3 months only. They don't even trust their services. Yelp has went from a trusted review site, to a business scam. The illusion is they are so big, you can't afford not to pay them. However, the reality is the majority of businesses will not benefit from paying Yelp, but they bully or cajole small businesses into believing they have to.
Call it another tragedy of the expectation of exponential growth. It went from a good website, to a product that is itself being milked for every last possible dollar, and those dollars come from bilking mom and pop shops. Use with caution.
I cancelled my ads and ad -ons 2 months ago, when I was told to put my ads on pause until I was ready to run them again. Then on may 1st I was charged $240.00. When I called customer service they told me that when you click pause the ads will automatically restart and they. SE no reason to give me back our money How does that scam make sense. I lil never use them again as they are dishonest and shady. I even have to block them at the bank now. Thanks Yelp
1) I never asked to be on Yelp, asked them to remove my listing they denied that request. I'm not even a brick and mortar, I work remotely. They told me they can not remove listings. This is false, as I'm a developer and honestly they can take control and manipulate, remove, unhide and do anything they need to via their CMS. I know this because I created a new listing, it was fine, then I asked them to remove my others and they merged them together then removed the other listings, so they are absolutely full of it. Lies.
2) Someone left a false review, even with proof it was false Yelp denied removing it. It got to the point where I had to threaten them with a lawsuit and they still didn't remove it. It was shortly after that they blocked me from being able to edit my profile. They also told me and I have all this consultation via email if any lawyers are interested, that they could not remove it because it did not violate any of their policies. Once again I proved this wrong by posting a fake review, one that fell within all policies and was properly worded. The system accepted the review, posted it to the company, the company responded and 3 days later it was removed. Why they can't remove the fake one from my listing is still a mystery, hmmm, I wonder. More lies.
3) I have 3 legitimate reviews, Yelp hid all 3 of them claiming they were "asked for" which is also not true. I did share with colleagues and clients and friends the issue I was having with the false review and how horrible a service Yelp is, so they may have gone to my unsolicited Yelp listing to post those reviews to share honest insight, but they were not asked for by me nor did I ever suggest they do that. Just another way Yelp proved they are out to damage my business. As well shows how flawed their "bot" is when it comes to filtering reviews. As well I'm sure it can be proven simply by looking at how the system is coded that they have control over these as well and are simply denying it to be rude. And they wonder why I want to sue them.
I've been in consultation about all these issues with Yelp sin Feb 11th. 2022. Still, no real resolutions have been made, being told they unlocked things, yet finding I still can't edit certain aspects of the listing. It's a false representation of my business and still supports the false review and has hidden 3 legitimate reviews.
Yelp is such a sad service with really bad customer service.
At any point, avoided using Yelp, if your business ends up on there don't claim it, just ignore it. If you own any Yelp stock sell it, this company is going down soon enough. ;)
Answer: Yes, it's true or they go to "not recommended"
Answer: Yelp are crooks, find some where else
Answer: For one of my business they made me pay for their monthly service which I never did, so my positive review was hidden.
Answer: Look somewhere else. As the reviews here show Yelp is notoriously unreliable.
Answer: Yes they erase all reviews they darn well wish to delete. CROOKED YELP!
