"Bait AND SWITCH"
May 26, 2023

My company deals with an international supplier that gives us pretty good deals on bulk purchases of electronics, we recently attempted to "good faith" business with these people, and they quite literally went from 1100 per down to 600 per for brand new items (only opened to inspect the barcodes).
For all future customers of this website BEWARE

Super Scam!
August 11, 2021

It's a super scam! I sent them my laptop that I had a professional remove my hard drive from. The professional can attest that the laptop was fully functional before being shipped to them. They sent me pictures of a broken laptop and told me the screen wasn't working and that now my laptop is worth nothing. The broken laptop in the pictures doesn't even look like it's mine. They are horrible! DO NOT TRUST THEM!

This is a bait and switch operation. The idea is to tempt you to send in a laptop by suggesting a decent value for it - on a four point scale starting with "Brand New / In original packaging " to "Poor", with a suggestion that any non-functional machine falls into this category. With a slick pre-paid postal service on offer, it's very easy to send off your laptop with a notion in mind that unless it is trashed, it will fetch a reasonable price as a used machine, still perfectly functional. Once the machine is received by them, expect an email stating that because of clear signs of wear and tear i. E. minor, buffable scratches to the laptop casing, it is rated 2 categories below what you appraised it at. And now they have you - you have to send a prepaid label to them for them to mail your laptop back to you, meaning you end up out of pocket unless you take their crappy deal. They have very obviously (in retrospect) engineered a high rating on TrustPilot to provide a veneer of confidence in what they are doing. It's only sites like this one that provide the inconvenient truth.

Joke of a company
March 26, 2021

Used there website and got a quote for my laptop for about 300 to 360 and it was a great laptop no reason to junk it at all and when i sent it in i got an email for a quote for only 23 dollars them trying to say that it has a bunch of body damage the hard drive was faulty and it was missing one key from the keyboard (a windows key). They then sent me pictures of the lid of the keyboard which was dirty from them and the keyboard with the backlit keyboard off trying to say the hard drive was bad and it wouldnt turn on. But i had gotten pics of it right before i sent it so i knew they where lying. I got my computer back ( after paying 30 dollars in shipping) and sold it on ebay for alot more then even there brand new quote

Unfortunately, like everyone else on this site, I found out Cashforlaptops was a scam too late. I didn't read any reviews until I had already placed my device in the mail and it was shipped off by USPS. If you're worried about not getting your device back or getting the money you want for it, please follow these steps!

1. Avoid at all costs, if you have not shipped already. Save yourself the trouble and just use another site or sell your device yourself. You'll be grateful in the end!

2. Log into their online system and keep updates of your device and the messages they send as their emails sometimes go to SPAM for no reason. You DO NOT want to lose any updates (emails) they send as this will cause you to lose your device.
Also, Newgistics is their return company and those people are TRASH! Another reason why you should avoid them! Read up on reviews of Newgistics shipping company.

3. READ READ READ their Terms & Conditions on their website. When they receive your device, you'll get an email that says Device Received, but wait until you receive the Device Inspected & Valued email. This is where they will LOWBALL the sh*t out of you! However, in their T&C's, you MUST CALL THEM WITHIN FIVE (5) DAYS! Remember this, CALL THEM, not email, CALL them to discuss the offer within FIVE (5) DAYS, actually MAKE IT FOUR (4) DAYS so they don't ignore your calls on the 5th... and this is NOT BUSINESS DAYS!

4. Once you call them, they will hassle you to let them keep the device and increase in price without any justification as to why they could not offer that price initially. This is where you can decide what is your selling threshold, do you take their increased price or not, it's up to you. HOWEVER, if you feel they are not making an effort you can DECLINE their final offer, and they MUST return your device in the same condition as sent according to their T&C's.

My Experience: I was quoted $881 for my Macbook Pro 13" Mid-2015 2.7 GHz laptop, which was a decent price. Comparable to those selling on eBay and worth sending it in for a quick sell, no hassle or so I thought. I received an offer of $136, WHAT THE H*LL! Thank goodness I had read previous reviews, so I knew to read their T&C's and patiently wait for my time to strike. I called them immediately the next day and the first lady already knew that I wanted to speak to the "Purchasing Department" without even asking. I was transferred to Melanie (the Purchasing Department) quickly and she tried to hassle me into keeping the device saying that is was "gently used" in certain locations. Well duh, this is what you quoted me for, a gently used device for $881. She placed me on hold for 5 minutes then came back and said "she checked other sites and their selling between $250-400, so we can offer you $450 which is a great price compared to other sites." Meanwhile, I'm on eBay seeing listings for $1200 so I know she's feeding me bull and calling it ice cream. I declined and she placed me on hold again, then came back and asked me what is my price? Again, no justification for the low ball offer, being able to increase my price, or reasons as to why she could give me my number. I told her $881, and she claims that is for new devices, sealed in the box, when their site says for used products. I told her $800 is the lowest I'll go and the highest she could do was $560. I asked for my device back and she processed my return. AGAIN, I don't see how you can go from $881 online to $136 to $450 to $560 with no justification or care. This goes to show they are truly trying to prey on people wanting to get money for their devices and scam them out of paying them the quoted offer.

I'll be getting my device back as I received the RETURN packaged email, although it was very condescending and threatening. One of the lines in the email is "You might be asking, "Will there be any further negotiations on my device?" Absolutely not! You have received our highest and best offer." Seems like they're mad they have to pay return shipping back to me, haha!

If you're looking for a good site to sell used laptops try using the eBay Valet program to sell it.

Fraud...
November 3, 2015

I sent in a 18 month old iPhone 5 and was quoted $120. The phone had a case, protective screen and worked perfectly. A received a check for $10 two weeks later and when I called to inquire they said phone had multiple problems and $10 was fair market value. When I requested to have phone back because I believe that are full of BS they stated I already passed some deadline and the phone was recycled. "Melanie" stated nothing they could do. This company is a scam! Stay away!

Quoted me $280 for a nice laptop and, after they received it, sent me my "congratulations, your laptop has been inspected and accepted" and that I would be sent a check for $39. I asked them five times to return the laptop and each time that directed me to some 800 number. Even dealing with them through the BBB was tough. They finally told me that my laptop had entered their system and was unrecoverable. I didn't even get the $39 check.

They offered $160 for my used laptop, so I sent it to them. Then, two weeks later, they sent me a revised offer of $100. No explanation was given whatsoever, despite the fact that my laptop was working perfectly fine and was in very good condition. I called their customer service, where I was put on hold for two minutes before getting transferred over to their purchasing department. The representative in the purchasing department gave me lots of excuses as to why they had revised the initially quoted amount. I knew the exact condition of my device when it was sent out. So, I argued with them to give me my device back! I was annoyed of this whole new quote thing. They refused to send me my laptop back, but gave me a counter offer for $125. I accepted that offer because my argument with them wasn't exactly going places. Very unprofessional people.

Just don't trust Cashforlaptops
May 10, 2015

Cashforlaptops gave me an amazing quote for my three month old Nokia phone online, then suddenly after some days they sent me an email regarding revised quote of my phone. The new quote was a little more than half of the previous quoted value. According to their terms and conditions I had only five days to request for my device be sent back to me. Then they insisted me to file my request via phone. I called Cashforlaptops to get my device back. Although, I got connected to a customer service representative in a short time, he said my phone's screen was broken and was not working well. I am pretty sure that I sent my phone to them in very good condition. I have no idea how they could come up with something so ridiculous. Don't believe everything they say!

I sent Cashforlaptops my ipad which was only two months old and in perfect condition. I was promised $150 for it. They sent me $80 and told me my phone has been recycled and gone. When I called them, I was able to talk to someone on the phone right away, who then quickly transferred me over the Purchasing Department. After patiently being on hold for about 10 minutes, I was told that I couldn't request for my phone to be returned to me because it was past their 5 days grace period. They were able to jack up the price a little, but that was it. At least I didn't have to wait forever to speak with someone! There's some positivity! All I'd like to say is that you need to stay clear of cashforlaptops.

Cashforlaptops gave me an attractive quote, and because of my greed, I failed to do my homework on this company before sending them my phone. I was surprised how they could do this to me. They gave me half of the amount that was quoted to me. They said my phone had "major technical issues" and has been processed already. I called them many times, but each time they give me the same reason and refused to do anything about improving the situation. I was frustrated and annoyed and in the end I accepted their low ball offer. I feel so defeated!

Cashforlaptops quoted $250 for my HTC Phone, but they changed their offer after some days and I received a check in the mail for only $125. When I called them, they said my phone was not in a working condition. I can barely comprehend that because my phone worked perfectly fine when I sent it out. There was nothing wrong with that phone. I refused to accept their new quote and quickly called them. I wasn't sure if their customer service was available on Saturdays or not, but, fortunately, my call went through. A lady informed me that they could not give me my device back as a check had already been issued in my name. She did, however, say that because I called within the 5 days of receiving the check (because I had received no notice before), she would hike the offer to $140 and issue a new check. Well, yeah thanks, Cashforlaptops! That extra 15 bucks are going to change my life! NOT!

Cashforlaptops is good for nothing!
May 8, 2015

Their first offer for my Samsung phone was $300. Worried that I'd miss such a great deal, I quickly requested them to send me a prepaid shipping box for my phone. I was happy with the offered amount and was waiting for my money. Then, one day, I got a check of $200 for my Samsung phone. I was beyond shocked when I received this amount! I asked them to send my device back, but their purchasing department refused to do so. They said my phone has been processed already. After a really long discussion, they offered me $50 more, then I took a long breath and accepted their offer. Although I lost $50 compared to the original quote, $250 was not THAT bad of a deal. Not the best, but could be worse. In future, I'll never trade with cashforlaptops.

Cashforlaptops failed to live up to my expectations. They offered me $205 for my used laptop, but when I sent them my laptop, they sent me a check for $150 instead. How awful is that!? How can they do this to me? I was appalled! I just want the word to get out and warn everyone against using cashforlaptops for any kind of electronics.

Cashforlaptops: A Total Scam
May 8, 2015

Cashforlaptops offered $190 for my Iphone 5. Then, one week later, they sent me a check for $112. They didn't even bother giving me an explanation for this revised amount. My phone was working perfectly when I sent it out to them, and it had zero scratches! I was super irked by this and so I decided to call them. Soon after calling the customer support, my call was transferred to the purchasing department. The rep that answered my call informed me that my phone was not working well and had plenty of scratches. This was absolute news to me, as I was certain of the state of my Iphone when I sent it in! Being upset and not knowing what to do, I requested them to send me my phone back, but they flat-out refused to honor my request. What they did instead, was to give me a counter offer of $130. I was not happy with this amount for my iphone, but I accepted their offer because they left me with no other option. Super annoyed with cashforlaptops!

I am not happy with Cashforlaptops
May 8, 2015

Cashforlaptops has not given me the amount they initially quoted on their website. Cashforlaptops quoted me $150 for my HTC phone and after some days sent me a check for $95. I only found out about it when I came back home from a weeklong trip with my friends. Fortunately though, I was able to talk to someone on the phone right away who then quickly transferred me over the Purchasing Department of cashforlaptops. I was told that I couldn't request for my phone to be returned because it was past their 5 days grace period. They offered me a hike of $5 for compensation. So I accepted their new offer. But still I am not satisfied, but I will give them an A for effort on their customer service.

Cashforlaptops offered me $90 as the initial quotes but ended up sending me a check for $50. In their terms, it was mentioned that if the customers weren't happy with the offer, they should contact them within five days of receiving the offer. I did the same, but my 5th day ended up being on a Saturday. Fortunately, Cashforlaptops has regular business hours on Saturdays, so I was able to reach them easily. They took a couple of minutes to connect me to their purchasing department, but it was all worth it in the end as I got a relatively higher offer by $50. I'm sure that if I had sold it to some other site, I would have gotten a much better offer. All in all, I am glad they were able to increase their ridiculous offer, but not happy with the service as a whole.
