Are you a writer? A poet? Do you enjoy fiction of a particular genre and looking for examples of works to read? All the above?
Then Writing.Com may be for you. With over a Million members, I thought I'd give this site a try. Now two years later, I've found not only a spot which provides valued feedback on my writing but a community which allowed my talent to grow. Offering contests of every flavor, writer's reviews, prompts, and much more, Writing.com is everything you'll need to expand your ability and find a community of like-minded, helpful individuals.
Whether you have been writing prose or poetry for years, or are just starting out, Writing.Com has the best tool to help you improve. Constructive reviews by others who are also learning. Yes there are some extremely competent and noted writers on this site and their guidance is invaluable. Also, you can read and review other peoples writings, because regardless of your writing experience, you know what you enjoy reading. There are fun competitions for those who like a challenge and you get to set you own degree of privacy or social interaction. Can highly recommend to any budding poet or author. Just one warning, you will enjoy it so much, you won't have time for facebook or twitter lol.
The best online resource I've found for getting feedback on writing. The community is very active, and in-depth reviews are actively encouraged. There's a niche here for almost every kind of writer.
I just happened to stumble upon this site, embarrassingly, and realized that the content here is amazing and the members very inviting. I believe it is a good resource for aspiring writers and has some lovely content for binge readers.
I'm still new but there's always somebody to help. Just ask. There are many moderators always available. Most members know the answer or they can point you to someone that does know.
You wont find a more fun, friendly, dedicated and supportive atmosphere for writing than you will find here at Writing.com! I've joined several other writing forums, but none of them compare to WDC. WDC provides the feeling of "going home again" that the other forums lack. If you want a creative stress free environment to grow and develop as a writer, then this is it.
Writing.Com is my go to spot to share my work with other writers and connect with like minded authors and poets. Come join us and write on!
"Writing.com" has been a pleasure to be involved in. It is a real writing community of passionate writers and readers. It is one of the most positive sites I have come across, not because people say nice things about one's work but, because people are respectful, honest and approachable. It has been a regular place for me to visit, both to write and read.
I wondered how hard it would be getting my acct up to date after being gone so long! It was so easy and smooth that it actually only took a few minutes. That was all there was to it so now I am back in business once again!
I doesn't matter what your education level or your nationality, the other users of Writing.com are always there to help make you a better author. It doesn't matter if you're just a part timer or have a passion for creating another world, there will be others to help you with ideas and suggestions.
This is more than a transaction, I need my relationship with this site in order to feel whole inside. That's what Writing.com has done for me as a person, and an individual. As a member with more than 13 years invested in this site, it just is a wonderful place to write poetry, short stories, editorial pieces, whatever it is you want to express in writing - this is the place for you! Come check it out - you won't leave anytime soon.
I have writing novels, poems, and short stories.
I am working two jobs, family illnesses, and working on two BA. It is hard to get times to work on this site, but they never forget me. This site has been family for me.
Great site with lots of features, contests and most important support for your writing efforts. Definitely worth the time to check out.
So long as you are interested in writing as a whole, I think this site would offer a fairly nice experience. It has a competent set-up and more or less allows for any type of writing, regardless of genre or maturity, so long as you've marked it correctly. If I had to mention an issue I have it would be the minimum ways of commenting on something. The only means are through either reviews or personal messages, which whilst they may let you get your message across, leave a bit to be desired.
Writing.com is a wonderful place to meet, learn and expand your writing skills. There are many writing activities to explore and the site is managed by some wonderful people.
Whether you simply read, or write for the site, there are plenty of hidden gems and activities to make a paid membership worth it. Not ALL stories are great... or even good, readers have to admit that, and it does take a while to find them, but it is very interesting to see some of these authors grow. Unfortunately, there is little external incentive for the authors to take the criticism and actually change their story. The connections and networking are a bonus- as it is quite difficult to find people who enjoy talking about writing outside in the real world.
It was amazing to find this site, from single author stories, to stories written by the community, it has been a pleasure to use this site and to watch authors grow.
My go-to place for everything. Writing, reviews, friends, contests... WdC is the best website. I'm celebrating my sixth year today, and I've been so happy through all these years. Reviewers have helped me improve my skills. Contests inspired me to write. Fund-raising activities are a blast. We have many more fun things to do outside of writing. Anyone reading this should join. It's enriched my life. You can even join with a free membership. Give it a try. I'm telling you, it's an awesome place to hang. I'd be lost without my WdC friends.
Writing.com is a wonderful website, full of love and wonder. I have met many, many wonderful people there. Plus you get to share your writings and poems. It's great for feed back. It's a wonderful website, I promise.
Best online community of writers out there! You're skills and passion for creative writing will ignite. Get ready to be inspired beyond your wildest imagination!
Answer: The simplest and most honest answer to this is simply that we, as a site that allows authors to post work, can not possibly stop someone from copying something they've read online and trying to use it as their own. The question you have to ask yourself, more so, is whether or not that's likely to happen. If you feel your work is up to the level that someone could just take it and get it published -- then certainly you should not be joining a writing community to improve your skills -- you should instead be out getting your work published. From our 15 years of experience, having had tens of thousands of authors post work to Writing.Com, we've never heard from anyone that their work has been stolen from our site and published by someone else. I hope this answer helps!
Answer: It hasn't been down at all, so this is a difficult question to answer.:-)
Answer: Sure, that is interesting!:-) You can certainly write about anything that is interesting to you.:-)
Answer: Hello, If I'm understanding the question... you're asking about benefits of our Preferred Author promotion? You are correct in that promotion is recognition within the community more than anything else. There are some ancillary benefits, such as message forums and activities available only to certain portfolio levels, plus certain times where we request the input and/or participation of higher levels within the community. Our Moderators are only chosen from well established Preferred Authors. In addition, higher portfolio levels earn an increased number of Gift Points for logging in each day. Answer: Hello, No, we do not have with "landing pages". It sounds like you're looking for a search engine placement company and that's not what we are. Good luck!
Answer: The answer is 0. Spending has nothing to do with promotions on Writing.Com. The qualifications for promotion include reviewing and interaction on the site, along with minimum amounts of time on the site. The full qualifications are listed in "Writing.Com 101" which is linked from the top of each page. Promotions are made manually, however... and Writing.Com is a literal "Mom and Pop shop" -- two people. Active members in our community also know that our 5 year old daughter was diagnosed with Leukemia the first week of September, so they know that this type of manual promotion is not something we have time to take care of right now. We'll be back to it as we work through and manage our family health issues.
Answer: Yes! There are nearly infinite usernames available.:-)
Answer: We are not Letgo. You are asking on the wrong site.:-)
Answer: We are not Letgo. You are asking on the wrong site.:-)
Answer: I'm sorry, I don't understand your question. You're welcome to create an account on Writing.Com without a previous history.:-)
