After getting quoted at a local pawn shop for $600 for my ring, I sent it to Worthy to see if I'd be able to get more for it. The process was very easy and straightfoward. Worthy had appraised my jewelry for $1100 and I accepted an offer for $90 less than that. I'm happy with my experience with worthy---I just am really bummed used diamonds and gold aren't worth even close to what I had anticipated. My wedding band set was originally ~$4400 10 years ago.

1st time selling was great, next 2 times, CRAP. I know for a fact how much my items are worth and the amount they wanted to give me was a insult! I will never use this company again. Go to your local jeweler to receive a better price and always get your valuables appraised local!

Therefore, when we read of an experience that fell short of this, we certainly want to do what we can to address what happened and understand it better to work on improving future interactions with sellers. It sounds like you had a great initial experience with us, but have not been happy with the evaluations our certified GIA gemologists have provided for your jewelry the last couple times. We do apologize for any misunderstanding in this regard. Our Lab and Gemology Teams work to evaluate hundreds of pieces of jewelry every week, taking great care to provide sellers such as yourself what would be considered a "base line" fair market amount to start at. Essentially, the evaluation they give is based on what the current resale market is for that particular type of jewelry with the professional buyers we work with. It's never meant to be a slight or insult to the seller, but is an expert opinion based on how we think that particular piece of jewelry would do in our Auction Format.

Hi - I used Worthy ( for the 2nd time) to sell an old heirloom ring. Although their inspection found a chip in the diamond (which meant it wasn't worth as much as I thought), their was good bidding interest and it sold above the suggested reserve price. I recd payment 2 days after the sale. Would absolutely use the service again!

I sent in a ring and a necklace to sell. They had me take a picture of the ring and send it to them. In none of the communications did it say that the items had to meet their criteria to sell them. I mailed the items the next day and the day after that, I got an email stating that my items are not the kind of items that they want to sell. They had not even seen the necklace yet. The items arrived at their location and the next day they sent me another email stating that there was not enough demand in their marketplace to sell my items. They wanted to return them to a staffed fed ex location two hours away from me. Went thru all the rigamarole to get my items sent back to my home address. Would not recommend them unless you have very high-end jewelry. Apparently, that is all they are looking for. They should screen items better to save people time of sending their items in.

That being said, it sounds like you did everything we asked with regard to submitting a picture of the jewelry to us in advance that you would like to sell. This is a great and very helpful initial step, but unfortunately with most pieces of jewelry, our Lab Team has to see it first hand to fully determine if there is a demand for the item on the current market, and/or it would sell for a fair amount for the benefit of both the seller and our company. This is why we provide all shipping costs to get the item(s) to us, and all shipping costs to return them as well if they are determined to not meet current qualifications. We try to make sure there is very little we ask of sellers beyond patience and trust while their jewelry is in our possession.
We do apologize that your jewelry was determined to not be auctionable on the current market. In addition, we are sorry that the FedEx Location we suggested was so far from your address. In order for jewelry to remain fully insured, we are required to ship to FedEx-Staffed Pickup Locations, so we try to find the one closest to the home address of the seller. In some cases, that is farther than preferred, so we have the seller sign a release to have the jewelry returned to their home or work address as is the case here.
We don't want you or anyone to get the impression that we are only looking for high-end jewelry, but more so diamond jewelry that would sell on the current market to one of the more than 1,000 professional jewelry buyers we work with.
A member of our Leadership Team will be reaching out to you to see if there is anything else we can work with you on to try and resolve any misunderstandings or negative feelings about Worthy.

The only thing I didn't like is that the platform aggressively pressures you to set your minimum acceptable bid very low — I increased it by about 20% though and it sold. I think I could have gotten more elsewhere (or paid a lower commission) but it was worth it for me to get it done with little effort. The team was very responsive to questions and I got paid quickly.

Information and guidance was unclear and inconsistent for a while. For instance, I was told to send the watch but not how to send it. And even after I'd sent photos, and told that Worthy had examined the watch and made photos, I was asked for photos. So I didn't think Worthy was on top of things. I got more emails asking me if I wanted to sell the watch; yes, that's what I'd communicated from the start. I replied that in a former sale I just took the item to Worthy and that I didn't know how to send it, and then, finally, I got specific instructions and shipping label. The watch got sold for a price I found satisfactory.
