Ordered a CD from World of Books and all I got was an empty CD case! After two boilerplate responses from customer service, I did at least get a refund. How can they advertise a CD in "excellent condition" when they didn't even open the case to see if the CD was actually there. I won't be ordering from this company again.
I ordered a book and saw a mistake in order, (eBay) and cancelled within minutes. They shipped anyway. It will cost near as much to return book as price.
If I saw these reviews I'd stay away.
And Trust Pilot? They favor the company, cant get posted there.
EBay? They do nothing, let you work it out.

6 days to process, 21 to receive & no response from customer service. The book was in horrible condition when listed as goodtorn pages, stains & crusting on one page of something I'm fearful of. It was for my 2yr old for Christmas, because she loved it from the books we checkout for variation at the library. I don't want her to touch it & it's two days before Christmas when this finally arrived since ordering on 12-6. No response through emails. I ordered it from Texas & the site said it was located in Florida & would process & ship within 48hrs. I can't find a US number to call for a complaint. I wanted to support what I thought was a better, smaller business. Lesson learned. This book is called "That's Not My Monster". It's only six pages.
Book did not arrive. They blamed the post office but would not follow up with post office and did not refund payment. Don't deal with these people.
Forget it - they don't already your emails if you have a problem. Sent 4 emails got exact same answer back. Lost over $50.
Don't bother with them. They are in it fir the money only don't believe the garbage they are trying to sell you.
I like to buy books through Abe Books (part of Amazon). I trust this company and their service has always been excellent.
Sometimes, on Abe Books, you have to buy from a third party supplier and in this case it was World Of Books UK.
I wrote to World of Books with a quick question asking if they would please clarify the title of a book that I wanted to buy - as it appeared slightly 'different' on their site. (They called it Vol 1). My question was polite (why not) and specific. I even supplied their stock code number to help.
The reply that I received from their customer service (sic) was a lesson in 'could't care less management'. We are too busy to check... etc.
Happily there are many other good book sellers around and so this company has lost my business.
I was very anxious after reading some of the reviews on this site, as I had already ordered a wine atlas that was listed at a good price in good condition from World of Books. Fortunately, it arrived sooner than expected and in very good condition. I'm sorry about the people who haven't had good experiences with them, but I have no complaints about my own.

I ordered a whole set of books of 13 but they shipped only 1 book, Now I can't even get in touch with them. All their links on their email are fake and no one answered the phone. They are not honest people!
Awful seller. Consistently overrates quality of their books. Their website states a book rated "very good" will come with a dustjacket. Mine did not come with one and featured extensive scratching on the cover. Items arrive in thin plastic sleeve. Seller does not respond to emails. Awful customer service. Buy from someone else.
Also, if you're in the US, it's nearly impossible to secure a refund. While it's ~$4 to send from the UK to the US, it's about $70 in reverse. That means if you're unhappy with your order, you're pretty much stuck with it.
My experience is different; i received all my books in great condition, arrive pretty soon, also bought movies and arrive and great condition, good packaging,.
My only complaing was the service; they didnt response any email or chat in facebook, they just send me also confirmations for the order and the shipping thats all.

Ordered/paid for book. Received confirmation busy processing. No book received. No response requesting status. This is a scam company. Avoid the aggravation. Find a legit online bookseller.
This company don't even have the books they advertise ( fraud) they take your money, don't answer your emails unless it suits them! When you ask for a refund because your book has not arrived, they say a couple of days after they have had your money for a book they don't have, for several weeks. I suggest anyone who has had this or a similar experience you ask your bank for a charge back as it was a fraudulent transaction. Hopefully this company will be shut down sooner, rather than later. Don't buy anything from them, they are a fraudulent company.
To me "very good" would mean all of it coming. Well devoid of stickers and dog eared. Cheap but would never have bought it :(
Went to buy Willkommen 2 German Intermediate course
Website picture of second hand book and said CD and DVD also included.
Just got the CD and DVD.
I went to world of books because I wanted a book not CD and DVD.
Spoke to customer services lady, so I can return at my cost.
Asked if they did the book I wanted and was pointed out to a mislabeled
Willkommen 2 book.
I told her that this looked like a second edition of the first course book. Not the 2 intermediate course. So someone else is going to be mislead
She said she could do nothing about this.
Very Poor Service
Item purchased was a 2nd hand DVD box set. The item description stated "Very Good Condition". The item received was NOT so. The item came with sellotape holding the box together, x3 dvd cases were all broken and not holding together with each sleeve torn and punctured. I would describe, "Poor Condition".
I contacted World of Books, but have still not received any response to date, even though my email was read as I have received the read receipt. Tried calling this company numerous times, once being left ringing for 10 minutes with no one picking up.
Be very careful as this company have very poor after sales and frankly, customer relations is very poor together with their items.
I would certainly not recommend this company for any to use.

If i could give less than 1 star i would. I needed to change my order, emailed and no reply, emailed 9 more times over a week and it arrived, i then called countless times and left multiple voicemails. Still nothing from them. Messaged on facebook and surprise surprise... nothing. At this point I'm wondering if anyone works here. I sent the package back unopened, and the day after i received an email saying:
"Great news! Your order has been processed and is ready to start making its way to you."
Again i emailed more to tell them they are too late with the email and its on its way back to them. The best part of their emails to say you've ordered it and that it on its way is this phrase:
"please do not hesitate to contact our dedicated customer service team"
I still haven't got my money back from them, Im still waiting for someone to reply to my emails, and I'm still waiting for someone to tell me that they have my order.

BEWARE. Please read their negative REVIEWS- not just mine! Company is a rip-off! They took my money, never sent a book I ordered, lied about where it was coming from, and when it didn't arrive by the date (I ordered this for a class), I gave them a chance to make it right. They ignored multiple (polite) emails from me, asking them to look into this, ignored my request for refund, and made me drag it through eBay refunds. There was ample time for them to fix this or say oops and refund- they didn't. What's worse? Their ebay account is FULL of this kind of thing. People who did get the books they ordered got them a full month late, and the books listed as "excellent"-"good" condition were more like "poor", according to thousands of angry customers.
Look, I understand mistakes happen- but step up when they do! World of Books refused to, even when I begged them to look into it bc I needed this for a class. It was a hard to find book they had much cheaper than anyone else- i probably should have known it was too good to be true. They had time to remedy this, but chose instead to rip me off and not refund. Clearly, this is a numbers game for them, in which customers are the product, and theft by inaction is the bottom line.

Search results are inconsistent (title/author search doesn't always work), customer service poor, books listed a lot of the time in better condition than what is received & when brought to the attention of staff (after close to a week of not having an email or emails answered) you are essentially given 2 options: 20% refund (in their words, 'as a gesture of goodwill') or return the item (at your own cost & high cost of postage) to receive a 'full' refund.
I steer clear now based on all of the above. Prices were once good & quality fairly consistent but now it appears staff wash their hands of taking responsibility of items falsely advertised in a certain condition.
Not good & disappointing considering this site WAS quite good overall.
You're not a 'valued' customer as i've found so buyer beware...
The price was right for the book I bought from them and the shipping was actually pretty fast considering they're in the UK and I'm in Canada but they aren't honest about the condition of their books. I bought a book listed as "very good" condition and they sent one that had writing inside, dirty yellow pages and creased dust cover. The book was "acceptable" or "good" at best. I really find it discouraging when the sellers aren't honest about the book conditions. I won't use them again.
