Wix Reviews Summary

The overall reputation of the company is marred by significant concerns regarding customer service and transparency. While some users appreciate the platform's ease of use and functionality for building websites, many express frustration over unresponsive support, auto-renewal practices, and difficulties in obtaining refunds. Complaints frequently highlight long wait times for assistance, inadequate responses from customer service, and perceived hidden costs associated with subscriptions. This has led to a prevailing sentiment of distrust among customers, who feel that the company prioritizes profit over user satisfaction and support.

Would not recommend this to anyone thinking of selling digitally.
Wix is still in the dark ages and has not yet reached the 21st century.
I wanted a Refund because Wix can't deliver on the digital solutions for web shops. I have spent days with their support which is extremely slow and now the period for refund has ended. So now I won´t get a refund.
I have applied for refunds but it has been declined. But if I can get even one potential customer to go to some other Supplier. I have at least help one person not to get get ripped of.

Terrible Editor
April 22, 2020

If you want an editor that doesn't crash, saves your work and lets you freely move elements without freezing, don't choose Wix. I am a professional web developer who has made over 25 websites using Wix. If your site is going to be SUPER basic, fine. But if you want multiple elements on a page and plan to have several pages, Wix isn't capable of handling the bandwidth. Additionally, their mobile editor is not accurate by any means. It claims to rearrange elements logically and algorithmically but it moreso just moves every single element to a new spot. "I had a list in 10 different text boxes and the mobile editor flipped every single item". Regardless of browser, Wix seems to start to lag around page 7. After that it becomes worse and worse. One clients site was 32 pages- I could not edit for more than 5 minutes without it crashing or freezing. If you do choose Wix, I urge all of you to save every minute. It will crash and you will lose all your progress. I have spoken with Wix Customer support on numerous occasions for both small to large issues. In either case, they do not own up to any errors that Wix has and essentially blames the user for all freezing/lagging. Terrible service, terrible editor.

They will increase prices whenever on next bill without notice, slick and unethical practices and most people don't catch it because they are on autopay. Thought they already charged taxes, then my payments went up randomly. To just start charging taxes randomly without notifying customers is unethical, yawl did that just a few months ago when my price went up, now yet again payments increase in less than 6 months during a pandemic.

Wix lock people in with these websites and know it's not easy to just transfer a site to a better cheaper host so yawl get away with increasing whenever yawl want without notice. Not right at all!

Prior to this I was a loyal customer, always recommending them. Site is simple to use.

Wix was charging me multiple times a month. Fees was not consistent. After i called a cancel my accounts. They started charging again months later from my credit card that i used years ago for one time purchase only. That's stealing. Who needs internet scammers when you have wix.

Stay Away! Built a website and bought their premium package. After a year I no longer had a need, but instead of cancelling my account Wix renewed me for another two years and wouldn't let me off it when I discovered their charge on my credit card 24 days later.

Contacted their customer service and they were not helpful at all.

Best advice is to stay away!

Please do not use wix
March 21, 2020

Please do not use this platform. And if you do use this platform. Do not use wix payments. You will have a better chance using Paypal for your customers payments. Wix does not value humanity. There is no way to talk to any service agents who can really help you with your account. Wix has held money from my account for a month. I've been using wix for a year. And out of the blue they wanted to verify my identity. That's fine! I sent them all of my information. I. D, business license etc. And 30 days later they have not released my money. The customer care can not help. Sending emails does not help as you'll always get a replying message saying "we will contact you soon". The coronavirus is here and business owners need their money. Wix could give two $#*!s. If you want to verify your users identity. Do not allow your users to use your platform to receive money. Ask for legal documents first! I will be deleting my account and trying out Shopify. Now I see why wix has so many bad reviews. I literally called 3-5 times a week. Which only made me mad because all the agents read from a script. They have no remorse!

I had to create a website for a school project so I decided to use wix. But after I had created my website and hit save it, the page reloaded and deleted all of my work! I could not even find it in my history! Then I remain my page and it deleted my page after I had hit save again! It was ridiculous and was a waste of time. I do not ever recommend using Wix to ever build a website. It is probably one of the worst sites out there.

My plan renewed automatically and I was 2 days past the 14 day cancellation period so now I can't cancel the plan. I can't get a person on the phone, the automated voice directs you to the website and hangs up. The website offers no option to cancel. I'm stuck with the yearly plan!

What a nightmare!
February 13, 2020

! They allowed an ex-employee to assign our HOA community website domain to an unauthorised person. Caused us to have the domain to be locked. After 2 weeks if runaround we find Wix has a policy to never change NS CODES. So our community web address our community uses to pay our dues is now locked for 2 months and our community has no idea where yo ho to pat thier annual assessments. As for the website: it could only hold up to 20 pictures. During the panic to find a way to save our domain they made us buy 3 years more on the domain saying that would unlock the problem. Another lie

Outrageus!
February 3, 2020

Outrageus! I bet ya they will reply to me - please contact our customer service, well dont bother because I already tried. I moved my site with domain to Wix, with around 6 months left. Wix told me I have to purchase domain from them for another year extra. I pushed the button, only to realise on invoice that the domain purchased is reset and will last only for a year from the day of purchase, in other words my 6 months I trasferred stopped existing, so they sold me domain for additional 6 months for the price of 12! I contacted customer service many times asking to give me money back, but with no response. Total ignorance, money grabbers and scammers! Avoid!

Not even ONE DAY into my expiration, wix registered my domain with godaddy. Possibly the most EVIL thing a website host/creator could do. Apparently, it's a common issue.

DO NOT JOIN WIX IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR DOMAIN NAME.

Just posting up my wix review on how bad my whole experience was using them.

From all of the advertising I have been seeing I thought that they must of been a good business, sadly I was wrong and it has been a nightmare.

I built a website using a wix template which I found very restrictive, not as easy as they make it out to be. The system is very old and hard to use and making simple updates such as changing content or images proved a major issues at time.

When I sent through an email for support I did not hear anything, waiting 5 days and had to send another email, ion the mean time my business was suffering due to an unprofessional website online.

It is also very annoying that you could not just pick up the phone and call them, needless to say I waited 14 days with no response so decided to cancel my wix account.

I noticed after cancelling my wix account they were still charging me so I had to cancel my credit card so they could not take any further money out.

Be aware and DO NOT USE wix.com

When i signed up for 1 year I made 100% that the auto renew was turned OFF. Made sure several times because I was afraid of getting charged again and it really wasn't good service anyway and our accont wasn't being used. Then a year later i was charged $300 on my credit card. Double the $150 i originally signed up for. INSANE. They claim it was on auto renew and now on a premium plan. Which is completely false. Wix.com is in the habit of making money on autorenewal (whether or not they've been turned off by the customer - wix controls the backend - they can turn it back on and upgrade your account). Complete FRAUD. I am working with credit card fraud team to get the charge off as wix was very very unhelpful and would not refund the charge.

It is not an intuitive tool to use and there are much better alternatives available.
Even worse than that, over 12 months after I stopped using wix, they invoiced be for another year's subscription without notifying me in any way before or after, which is in contravention of Australian Consumer Law. They denied my request for a refund without providing an explanation.
I strongly suggest considering all alternatives rather than using wix.

Title sums it up. Great design set up - but then nothing works and you can't get help. Premium was supposed to include free email and domain, but then they are charging and it turns out it was only for one year. I am leaving.

After having a business site for over a year with Wix, they decided to hold payment on an item that was paid for through their credit card system. Paypal purchases went through without a problem. I make handmade kitchen items, including kitchen knives. When I called them up to find out why they haven't released the funds to my checking account, they told me that I sell weapons, and that might site is "under review".

First of all, I don't sell weapons, they are tools that people use every day in the kitchen. Second, why did it take them over a year, when they could have said it falls under their no "weapons" policy right off the bat? Third, why are they holding the money they owe me?

I've been wanting to go elsewhere for other reasons before this happened, but I had a year contract. Good thing it's up in a month.

Last but not least, when I spoke with the Wix rep, he reprimanded me several times for not knowing that kitchen knives falls under their no weapons policy... right up there with guns and ammunition. Even though it doesn't mention knives at all in their policy.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS BUSINESS! They're looking for any opportunity to screw you out of your money. Just read the growing list of complaints...
