After purchasing a F-150 on August 6th I had a delivery date of August 17th and after the vehicle didn't arrive I called Vroom and I was told there was an issue with the carrier getting there to pickup my vehicle. So a few days passed and I called back and Vroom had no updates so I started doing some research on my own since I received no call backs like I was promised and I was able to find out who the delivery company that was supposed to be transporting my truck and I was told that on the 15th they attempted to pickup my truck and Vroom wouldn't release it. So after many hours on the phone with Vroom I was told that the vehicle was still going through inspection even though these vehicles that are listed for sale are supposed to be inspected prior before they are listed for sale. So fast forward to August 24th I'm finally contacted by Vroom and they informed me they couldn't deliver this vehicle because the engine the engine had failed and if I wanted to pick out another vehicle I would be contacted within in 72 hours. At this point I know these people can't be trusted and I informed that they just needed to refund my $7500 dollar down payment and their reply was someone will contact you within 72 hours to go over that. This is the shadiest company I've ever encountered. My suggestion to anyone considering Vroom if you cant put your hands on the vehicle don't trust these folks.
Vroom is a ripoff company... they increased the price of the vehicle after we agreed on a price and I got a deal summary and my deposit and wire transfer of the purchase price. I canceled the deal and asked for my deposit and balance of my money... received the deposit of $500.00 but was told the wire transfer balance would be returned in 10 to 14 days! After 14 days and talking to their incompetent customer support team I was told I never requested my balance back (OH MY GOSH YOU HAVE TO BE KIDDING ME) so now I am told I will receive a check FED EX within 8 to 10 days!
I sure would like them to send me $27,000.00 to hold in my bank account for 28 days! Curious to know how many people are being duped into the same scenario and how much money is Vroom making on the money (interest) they are not refunding!
I want to start out saying that I only blame myself for the below. I had come across thousands (yes literally thousands) of negative reviews on Vroom, yet against my better judgement I proceeded with my purchase. LESSON LEARND.
I have used Carvana and Driveway in the past, those experiences were amazingly smooth, honest and precise. Not at all what Vroom offers in terms of customer experience.
If you have LOADS of patience and are lucky enough to have a issue-free vehicle delivered, you'd be in an okay spot. Not a good spot though as I received my vehicle on 7/27. Prior to that I had received via FedEx a temporary tag with 8/11 expiration. It is now 8/18 and I am forced to drive with an expired tag due to incompetence at Vroom. I did call on 8/12 and was a assured a new tag would be issued within 48 hours. If you get to know Vroom, you'd take that with a grain of salt as everything I have heard from them since the buying experience begun turned out to be lies.
7/3 – I find a car I like on Vroom and state my interest on their site and placed a refundable deposit to hold the car. Very quickly after I received a call from a salesperson (this was the only communication with this individual, once deal is closed they move on) guiding me to complete the purchase. I was told that the vehicle was in TX and would arrive 10-14 days from the purchase but usually it would arrive even sooner than that. This was wrong. The vehicle was in CA. I received my "Congratulations purchase is complete" email on 7/9 yet my car was delivered on 7/27 18 days after the purchase was complete.
7/27 – The car arrived with the exterior being very clean. The inside was a different story as it was filthy with stickiness and residue all over. I then find a nice tear on the door which was undisclosed in the listing. When I drove the vehicle, I noticed a vibration and rumble anywhere from 15 MPH and up. I immediately contacted Vroom and was advised to get estimates and that they would submit for approval.
8/7 I submitted an estimate to resolve the vibration issue to Vroom. The dealer stated the tires were choppy and were in need of replacement. Additionally, the rear brakes had to be changed immediately. It is now 11 days since and I have gotten nowhere.
8/13 I asked Vroom that I return the vehicle due to the issues not being resolved. I was told I would lose the $699 delivery fee plus $1 for each additional mile over 250 miles. Because of this, it is cheaper for me to keep the vehicle pay or the necessary maintenance and repairs myself.
As far as communication, there is very little of it. Most emails are either unanswered, answered days later or answered by seeming two different people giving entirely conflicting information.
If you want to buy a car online with convenience and confidence, try Carvana or Driveway. Do yourself a favor and keep away from Vroom.
If I could give it less than 1 star I would.
Applied and was approve for a purchase for a 2016 Kia Soul on 3/26/21 and placed my $500 deposit immediately to hold the vehicle. Sent in all requested information within hours of being ask for it. Thought things were finally set on 4/4/21 when loan documents were sent via FedEx. Placed Insurance on vehicle the same day. Delivery was delayed multiple times. Finally received the car on 4/24/21. On 5/23/21 I received notification that my credit had been run again without authorization from the company who had originally approved the loan. Received a call on 5/23/21 stating that the finance company had decided to decline the loan. After much back and fourth and many phone calls I ended up adding my wife as a co buyer. On 6/14/21 I finally received notification that a new lender had approved the loan. 6/19/21 I had to have the front brakes replaced on the vehicle after only having it 2 months and putting about 2,000 miles on it. They would not cover $. 01 of that cost. Guess inspections before sale are not their strong point. Would have failed NYS safety inspection if I had taken. 7/9/21 was when the temp tag expired and was not able to get any more. Still had not received my registration or plates for the vehicle. After multiple calls every day and being transferred to multiple people and being promised a return call, all I got were crickets. Finally managed to get someone on 7/24/21 who was able to do something. I was offered a rental car at no cost till my registration and plate, which are handled by some random 3rd party in Florida got their act together and registered my vehicle. Today 8/17/21 I finally received notification for NYS DMV that the vehicle had been registered. Now to wait and see how long it takes to get them in the mail.
In my honest opinion, I WOULD RUN AS FAR AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY AS POSSIBLE!
This was the worst car buying experience I have EVER had.
We found a different car so we called and asked for a refund of our $500 deposit. We were told 2-3 days and we would see it in our bank account. It's been 6 days and the guy I called and asked about it hung up on me!
Not good! That seems crooked and shady to say the least!
Awful experience and would not recommend Vroom to anyone else! I contacted Vroom to do a trade in of my 2017 BMW M4 for a 2018 BMW M4. It started out very promising because Vroom gave me a decent offer for my 2017 M4. I was instructed to sign my car title and FedEx it back with payment for the balance. I sent Vroom the signed title along with the Statement of Facts using the returned FedEx envelope provided by Vroom. On the same day, I wired $10,000 to Vroom. Eight days later, a Vroom Specialist called me and told me they have not receive the FedEx package yet. I told them according to the FedEx tracking number, the envelope was delivered to Vroom 6 days ago. From this moment on, I had to call Vroom contract office every day and I would get conflicting information and status report on every call. The most frustrating part is a Specialist told me it is against Vroom policy for her to track my package with the tracking number that FedEx provided to me. I told her that is nonsense and I would like to talk to someone that can help me. She said no one can help me now because my account is in the "finalizing of deal" state and this is between 2 Departments so neither Contract or Sales department can help at this time. More nonsense! Vroom has my title and my money. I am not able to sale or trade in my vehicle and I bet it will take them 30 days or longer to give me back my $10,000. Stay away from Vroom!
Absolutely disgusted! Huge nightmare from start to finish and I'm not even finished. Bought a vehicle and did a trade in with them. First, these idiots ran my credit 8 times, like wtf?! Delivering my vehicle, yeah they didn't deliver it, I had to drive 3 hours to go pick it up because the driver they contracted to didn't speak English and was incompetent. For the trade in pick up, it sat in the driveway for the longest time and I was making payments on it and the new vehicle I purchased all because VROOM DOES NOT COMMUNICATE very well with their contractors or their customers. I had to call over and over again to make sure things were getting done. Finally, the registration part. Still without tags. I asked so many times for them to transfer over the tags from the previous vehicle because they were special plates. They kept telling me that the note was in their system to make sure they got transferred. It's been two months. I don't have my the registration and my temporary tag expires tomorrow. I went to the dmv to see if I could just do it there and they wouldn't let me because VROOM processed the wrong paperwork work needed for me to do the transfer of tags. So I have to fill out the right ones and sent it to VROOM and trust that they won't f*** it up. By the way, my temporary tag expires tomorrow and currently trying to get them to send me another one until I get my real tags transferred. Takes up to 72 hours for their dmv to process paperwork then they send me a temporary tag. So I guess I will be driving illegally and when I get pulled over, I can tell the officer how much VROOM sucks and to tell him never to buy from them and to tell other individuals he or she pulls over to not buy from VROOM! What a complete cluster f***
You get the car with problems and they expect you to run around and get them fixed communication with office personnel is a big run around no one wants to take care of your problem worst company ever stay far far away safe yourself a lot of frustration
They cannot simply send the title and registration to my state so I can get my permanent tags for the car I purchased 4 months ago. Simply unacceptably bad at their job. It was a great experience until this point. What is wrong Vroom? This is getting ridiculous.
I started the process to sell my vehicle to vroom and what a gigantic waste of time and effort that I'll never get back. In total, I've spent nearly 1 month; about 45 follow up phone calls to them and have resubmitted required information that they continue to lose (how to you lose electronic documents?) every time I call. I've made it a habit to contact them daily to confirm my case is still opened and all requested documentation has been received. Each time, someone either confirms I have it all and will proceed to the next step or tells me another ridiculous piece of information to provide to them in order to complete the sell. This is the worst experience doing anything that I've ever had the displeasure of enduring. In one instance, they asked me to re-attach a title document which I did and they told me it was all good and received. I called the next day to make sure the title was good and my case was progressing and was told it wasn't received and to reattach, but take a screenshot this time and enlarge it to fit one page. I did and confirmed it was received at that time. The next day, I called to check the status and was told "Oh, you need to submit the title document in COLOR", not in black and white. So I contacted the back and submitted the document in color as requested only to be told "your case has been closed for the 4th time because of a missing document so you'll need to start the process over and we'll go from there." I hope this company gets back to each of them exactly what they've given to me. The initial deal of buying my car for 3.5K higher than any place else was what caused me to endure the crazy, but it is not worth my time. Please do not waste yours *******@therealcoachpayne and I'll tell you the entire terrible experience. Sorry, I rarely leave reviews, but this may save someone time and frustration. DO NOT GO FOR VROOM!
Took two months from starting the process to buy the car, for them to "lose" my paperwork, and threaten to release the hold on my car, to finally get my car.
I was promised about a month to get the necessary paperwork for registering my car. My sweet, customer service traumatized self gave them two extra weeks to start bugging them about this paperwork.
My car is now parked, and my most recent phone call ended with them saying it's going to take another 4-6 weeks to get anything done.
Sure the prices are good, but I promise the end value is cheaper with your local used car dealer, cause you won't have to pay legal fees to take these guys to court.
I would leave zero if possible. Hours on the phone still no title, over 33 THOUSAND dollars and cant register the car. You cannot ask question on your acct or change addresses, people to accept delivery etc. They never call to update you with a day of delivery, they don't answer the phone when you call to confirm the day. They were over an hour out of the window for delivery after being 2 days late. Any call is 20 plus minute conversations that are then ignored anyway. Placed on hold, transferred and transferred. My temporary registration is expiring, I still do not have a bill of sale despite 3 more 30 minute conversations yesterday so I'm not able to register the vehicle. Title, which I still don't have, is 4 to 6 weeks, and you must be home to sign for it. So no idea when that will happen. Definitely easier to be tortured at a dealership
Vroom is the WORST BUSINESS I have ever dealt with. They won't get me a title and registration after a year. I bought my car in August 2020 and after a year still do not have a license plate. They gave me 3 temp tags from Texas and I had to pay extra for my insurance to meet the Texas premiums although I live in NY. Now after hours of emailing and calling and having my case escalated to supervisors three times (who are not able to be directly reached) no one has called me back and I have a temp tag that expired in February. IT IS DISGUSTING AND DESPICABLE! I have been paying for the car and for insurance for a year but they will not send me a title. I NEVER write reviews for companies, but this is literally the most UNPROFESSIONAL, UNRELIABLE place I have ever dealt with. DO NOT USE VROOM.
I called in to negotiate an offer I rcvd from them. When buying and selling cars, there's always room to negotiate. It's like the minute I said the work "negotiate" she turned into Cruella. She asked me some of the specs about my car and said that they would re-review. I was never asked why, what, nothing. So of course i re-asked if i could negotiate. She replied, " i just said i would resubmit it" that means its negotiable// i honestly didn't even get to finish my sentence, i kid you not. When i realized how nasty she was being i just hung up. Shame cause i was looking to buy as well. Good thing they weren't my highest offer. Oh, when i told her never mind. Her response was "and that's fine".
I bought a car in January. It is July and I have still not received the title and registration. I have reached the max number for temp tags and cannot drive the car since the last tag expired June 30th.
No one on the phone seems to have the authority to do anything meaningful and anyone who does won't call or email me.
I purchased a vehicle from vroom a couple months ago and that was quick and easy, the issue comes into play when I received the vehicle. Not only was it dirty in the inside and out the vehicle has issues with both the steering and brakes and I informed them about both immediately and definitely within the 7 day window. They said the would "buy back" the vehicle… I have not heard from them since. Worst experience ever! Terrible company!
The vehicle was delivered with no temp tag and I have made numerous calls to try to get them to send one. I just keep getting the run around.
Horrible experience. I purchased a Mercedes 3 weeks ago and was told it was going to be delivered between 7/8 & 7/12. On 7/11 I called for an update and they said the carrier carrying 9 other vehicles had broken down 1000 miles away. No communication about this was received. I received daily phone calls from Vroom stating the driver wold update me. No calls were received. On 7/17 I get a call from the driver stating I could pick the car up from him he was 15 minutes away. Or he would deliver it in 2 days.
Agreed to the deal they send contracts to wrong address we wait get everything signed and sent in on July 12 th I confirmed they received it I wire my down payment confirmed they received it have called repeatedly for a delivery date today the 15 th I get a whole package of documents to be signed I call they re worked paperwork in short they lost it and have to re do it! Now trying to cancel and they say I signed the contracts! Lawyer time! Buy nothing from these people
Bought 2 cars totaling nearly $80k. One of them was so badly rusted my local dealer believes it was involved in a flood. I sent that one back and still waiting on my refund, but can't get a hold of anyone in the buy back team to verify whether it is coming or not (side note, the car is already listed for sale again!) The other car's temp tag is about to expire and Vroom has no idea where the registration paperwork is. When you email them, you get an automated response saying the mail box is not monitored. When you call, you sit on hold until they route you to voicemail, and they do not respond to messages. It is amazing they are in business at all, let alone publicly traded.
Answer: I got a good offer and my car is 2 years old and in better than average shape. In fact they offered 1400. 00 more than the local dealer, more than Carmax or Carvanna. Then I read reviews, the BBB and received the contract. In there point #7, they said they have the right to adjust the price and do not pay out until they inspect the car. Called and canceled the contract before it got any further. In this day and age I decided if I'm going to sell something I need to look at the person face to face. VROOM holds too many unknowns.
Answer: Don't trust them! Can't handle simple matters as honoring a deposit.
Answer: Awful. I have been waiting for a month and still don't have our deal done yet due to their disorganization and expiring their offer on my trade in, so now I have to start all over again with that process - which, by the way, was part of the reason I chose to buy from them!
Answer: Yes, wait and wait and wait and wait. Be smart, walk away from these people
Answer: Then go ahead and sell it! They do not force you to buy a car!
Answer: They are a bait and switch company! Truly what's on the internet is not always true! If it seems to good to be true? Probably to good to be true!
Answer: I wouldn't do it. Everything in my experience with them has been painful and fishy! I still don't have my deal done yet after a month!
