Lies about being free lookup report. Stop saying you are free when you are nor. This is called False advertising
I fell for the same scheme and purchased a vin history report for $1. I was immediately charged an additional 29.95 afterwards. The website does not mention enrollment in a subscription. I asked to cancel and received an email saying they had sent me the report which implies they feel the useless report is worth 30.95.
I wanted to check out the vin number for a vehicle. I did a search for carfax. I saw an ad for $1.00 to check out a vin number. I put the vin number in and watched as all of this supposed scanning took place. Then I needed to put in my payment information. Immediately I get a message about the charge. I should have stopped right then and checked out why, but I didn't. I thought things were okay. Boy was I wrong. I said let the transaction go ahead. Immediately I got a notice from my credit card for a $29.95 charge. What the hell? I started chatting with them and they told me you have to sign up for a recurring monthly payment. What the hell? What happened to the $1.00 vin number check? It doesn't exist. That is just the scam to get your credit card information. I told them I didn't sign up for that and I wanted the charges reversed. I gave them my email and the last six digits of my card. I received a generic email about a cancellation. The next day I get a strange $4.95 charge. What the hell? The credit card company had already stopped that charge. They are getting me a new card. My credit card reversed all the charges. DO NOT DEAL WITH THESE SCAMMERS!
Do not use this site! It is total scam. False advertising. They advertise car history report for $1, but you will be charged $29.95 I have notified my bank to stop payment.
I received notification from Experian that there was a lien on my car, and this company was sponsored by Google. It ended up being a lien from the previous owner when he financed the car, it wasn't active. But like everyone else on this thread, I paid the advertised $1 for the VIN report, no invoice or total to pay listed, just the $1 VIN report and clicked on the check out button. Next thing I know I'm charged $25 on a separate charge. The phone number for them is disconnected but I found another on their website, and chose the refund option on their switchboard (already a bad sign if you have a refund option.) Went through that process as well as trying to live chat with someone going through the same refund process. I disputed the $25 charge with my credit card company and waited for the refund only to be charged another $4.95 by this company for IDK what days later at 2 AM. Now I had to report it as fraudulant and go through the process of getting a new credit card. On top of all of that, they seem to have sold my information due to getting a bunch of spam calls on my cellphone and emails. I've already reported them to Google so hopefully they remove them as a top "sponsored" search result. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY AND SAVE YOURSELF THE HEADACHE.
First the site listed my vehicle as a different model even with license plate and vin. No records for 1 1/2 years when my vehicle is routinely maintained. Offer is to "hit this $1.00 to print report". Now the bank has a dispute because the charges are 4.95 and 29.95. Completely random and chat rep states I signed up for subscription. NOPE!
I was scammed like everyone else----charges to my debit card that I did not authorize. Call this number--*******073----you can cancel your "subscription" and also get a refund.
After being tagged with the ridiculously sneaky $29.95 (US) subscription fee per month, I realized something was completely off. After asking THREE times to cancel it, each of which time I was assured it would be, I finally had to lock my entire credit card and file an inquiry with my bank. Every time through their company Live chat I asked what was going on, and if there was any further information I could provide to help with the refund. They would brush it off and say that they'd "elevated" the ticket to the highest priority, and then offer nothing in follow up.
I'm so sick of this. We'd looked into it after seeing some $#*! jacking off in front of a childrens playground, and they offered none of the information they promised.
I hope they get unearthed for the sketchy company they are.
They would continue to charge your account various amounts until you block your card. Apparently from they have changed their name to 'searchresult prospect US'. That's the merchant showing on my credit card statement. They are a complete fraud! Please avoid by all means.
They charge 1.00 but then charge you 24.95 without anything in the site saying that its a 24.95 charge. This company is a site and did not provide any information that was need. Like vehicle lien... please beware. Then on your card it's shows LookUp
This company is a total scam. Here's why.
1. False advertising. They advertise one report for only $1.00 then charge you an additional $24.95
2. They advertise immediate refund no questions asked.
3. Their phone number is DISCONNECTED.
4. There is no live person to talk to.
5. The charge shows up on your card as being from TRACKTHEGENE.COM. A different website.
Everyone employed at this company is a crook.
This site doesn't give what they say. Then when you cancel they still charge you $24.95 after the cancellation. Then they tell you that it will take 3 to 5 business day to look up. Then 7 to 10 business days for the refund... it's all just a scam to see if they can get away with taking your money... DO NOT USE THIS SITE!
Offered free VIN report, then told me it would be $1. Decided to pay the $1 for a report. They generate a report and before you can see it, you have to give them your email, address, and phone to email you the report. As soon as I did this they charged me $24.95 additional for something? I assume a membership that they say nothing about. Now I have to dispute charges and deal with that headache. Don't deal with them. They should be shut down.
Same as all others. $1 charge followed by $24.95 charge. Phone number doesn't connect "An application error has occured". Charge shows up as "Broad System Informa".
I was never informed, nor agreed to, a charge or monthly membership!
It is a scam. It says $1 VIN report but will charge you 30$. Costumer service is not very helpful either. I disputed the charges with my bank to get my money back.
This website is a complete scam. Best of luck getting a hold of anyone. The report was useless as others have said. Please avoid
Advertising entity VIN History USA (vinhistoryusa.com) Advertises in bold letters why it charges $1 instead of being a no charge site. It says that by charging a dollar it can provide much better quality vin information.
The information provided is quite thin, practically nothing on the search I conducted. But, the crime is that they subsequently steal $24.99 from your card for which you entrusted them. Effectiviely, they get people to trust them to provide credit card information, then they steal $24.99 from them.
The named billing entity on my card is HOUSE DATA FINDER. My guess is, as the billing entity name is different than reported below is that the prior business name or business names were stripped by its credit card processor due to high volume disputes.
These folks are outright thieves. I plan to contact the state consumer board. It's outrageous they are in business and that google does business with them.
Charged $1 then tried to charge $24.99 which I didn't authorize. The report was complete rubbish. Charges are under "BACKGROUNDLOOKER" No receipt emailed to me so I can't supply that. Went to Online Chat to cancel order & get a refund - at which point they wanted my exact name, last 6 of card & email. Not sure if this is continuation of the scam or the only way to cancel the "subscription" they claim I signed up for.
They say they will give you a vehicle review for $1.00. After you authorize the $1.00 they will charge your card $24.95 for their monthly service.
1. The $1 charge showed up in my account followed by a $25 charge.
2. The "report" was useless - on a 14 year old vehicle, their ownership records only accounted for 6 years, and showed NO service records.
When I emailed them to complain about the lack of information on the report, they emailed back saying "we sent report", attaching the same useless info.
Wish I'd have checked reviews first like I normally do...
