VinCheck.info is a useful free VIN lookup tool for checking vehicle history before buying a used car. The site is easy to use and gives buyers a quick way to access important details at no cost. It is a practical starting point for making a more informed purchase decision.
I subscribed and then canceled on the same day but they withdraw illegally 450 US$ from the credit card. They offered refunding me 20% of the total withdrawn amount. I will file a claim against them. I heard if we contact the Miami attorney, there is a big chance they return my money.
I ran two VIN numbers on Vincheck.info and both of them said no thefts or accidents, but when I ran it on https://www.nicb.org/vincheck it showed the first car did have a Total Loss Accident and the second car had two different accidents and is listed as a Total Loss.
Hi,
Thank you for sharing your concern. We’d like to clarify how VinCheck.info reports work.
VinCheck.info provides free NMVTIS-based reports, which rely on data submitted to the National Motor Vehicle Title Information System (NMVTIS) by approved sources such as insurance carriers, salvage yards, and state agencies. As a result, the information shown depends on what has been officially reported to NMVTIS at the time of the search.
While NICB’s VINCheck tool may display additional insurance-related loss data, not all accident or total loss records are immediately or consistently reflected across all databases. This can sometimes lead to differences between report providers.
For the most complete vehicle history, we recommend using multiple sources and understanding that no single database has 100% coverage of all incidents.
We appreciate your feedback and are always working to improve transparency around what our free NMVTIS reports include.
Best regards,
VinCheck.info Team
The entire point of this website is to verify data about a vehicle before purchase so you don't throw money away right? Well, the easiest thing to catch isn't the past inspections or the mileage. The easiest thing to catch is whether or not the vehicle shows up in the STOLEN VEHICLE DATABASE that is maintained by the government. It is ONE REFERENCE! See below. I bought a bike because I trusted this website and the vehicle was stolen. Don't trust this website.
I'm so careful with this $1 one time charge. I gave my card for a website asking for one dollar charge and later they would return it to my card, and they did, but then they started to charge $63 every month. I blocked them on that card. They charged with another SCAM name. People are saying the same thing of this. Becareful!
Hi,
We’re sorry to hear about your experience, and we understand how frustrating and upsetting this situation must be—especially when it involves a stolen vehicle.
To clarify, VinCheck.info provides free NMVTIS-based reports, which rely on data submitted to the National Motor Vehicle Title Information System by state motor vehicle agencies, insurance companies, and salvage yards. The results shown are limited to what has been officially reported to NMVTIS at the time of the search.
While NMVTIS includes theft data, reporting delays or gaps can occur, and no single database—including government-maintained systems—can guarantee real-time or 100% coverage. This is why we always recommend checking multiple sources and, when possible, verifying directly with local law enforcement before completing a purchase.
We take feedback like this seriously and work to be transparent about what our free reports do and do not include. If you’re willing to share the VIN involved, our support team would be happy to review the case further. You may reach us at [email protected].
Best regards,
VinCheck.info Team
I did a little experiment on this website, I went onto Carfax, looked up some cars which have had accidents, and copied the vin into this vincheck.info. Yeah it was not pretty. Some cars which have had accidents according to carfax are apparently totally fine, and the salvage titles may not always show up correctly. I will admit, SOME times it DID show that a car was involved in an accident, but its not guaranteed. As a free vin lookup, I guess you can use it, it COULD be accurate in a few instances, but don't use its results as reassurance, Carfax may be expensive, but its WAY more accurate than this, or ANY other reputable vin look ups.
Hi Rayhan,
Thank you for sharing your feedback. We understand that accuracy is extremely important when checking a vehicle’s history.
VinCheck.info provides free NMVTIS-based reports, which rely on data reported to the National Motor Vehicle Title Information System by state agencies, insurance companies, and salvage yards. Because it’s based on official NMVTIS submissions, it may not always reflect every accident, inspection, or salvage record in real time. That’s why there can be differences when compared to other services like Carfax, which aggregate additional sources of data.
Our goal is to provide free vehicle information to help buyers make more informed decisions, but we always recommend using multiple sources for full verification, especially for high-value purchases.
We appreciate your honesty and feedback—it helps us be transparent about what our reports include.
Best regards,
VinCheck.info Team
I ran a VinCheck report on a vehicle my daughter was interested in purchasing and it stated no accidents. When we went to the dealership and asked for the Carfax it actually had 3 accidents listed on the report. We asked for a report on another vehicle, which also listed as no accidents. This particular vehicle was in 1 accident.
Hi Kevin,
Thank you for sharing your experience. We understand how concerning this can be, especially when making decisions about a vehicle purchase.
VinCheck.info provides free NMVTIS-based reports, which rely on data submitted to the National Motor Vehicle Title Information System by state agencies, insurance companies, and salvage yards. Because NMVTIS only includes information that has been officially reported, some accidents or incidents may not appear in our reports. Services like Carfax collect additional data sources, which can lead to differences in what is displayed.
Our goal is to provide free vehicle information to help buyers make more informed decisions, but we always recommend checking multiple sources for full verification before purchasing a vehicle.
We appreciate your feedback and are committed to being transparent about what our reports include.

I did the check and clicked on the $1.00 button. My credit card was charge a subscription by-weekily fee of 29.95. I did not sign up for this service and got my card to block this charge. Beware!
Hi Leanne,
Thank you for reaching out. We want to clarify that VinCheck.info does not offer a $1 package or any by-weekly subscription for $29.95. It sounds like this charge may be from a different company using a similar name or website.
We recommend checking your statement carefully to see how the charge appears and contacting your bank or credit card provider if you suspect an unauthorized transaction.
If you’d like, you can also email us at [email protected], and we’ll do our best to help verify whether the charge is related to our service.
Best regards,
VinCheck.info Team
I've compared the information to the info I got from a CarFax report and there isn't a lot of difference when you get down to brass tacks. With Vincheck it's necessary to read between the lines a bit, for example, there are 2 title records, and from that, I gather there were 2 owners, etc. But it's free for heaven's sake. The car I checked is from a distant family member so I can independently verify the report's correctness. I'd suggest getting info from a couple of sources, but why not use this site - it only costs your time.
Hi Terry,
Thank you for sharing your experience! We’re glad to hear that you found the VinCheck report helpful. You’re absolutely right! Reading between the lines can sometimes reveal additional insights, and using multiple sources is always a smart approach.
Our goal is to provide free, easy-to-access vehicle information to help users make more informed decisions without any cost, so it’s great to hear that you found value in the report.
We appreciate your thoughtful feedback and recommendation!

Yea, really shaddy - some guy pushing me to do it so that he can "purchase my vehicle full price". Then no response when I tell him to meet me in person to see the vehicle first.
Hi Matt,
Thank you for sharing your experience. We want to clarify that VinCheck.info does not charge for our service beyond the first 5 free uses, and we do not facilitate vehicle purchases or connect users with buyers.
It sounds like the interaction you described was unrelated to our service. We always recommend exercising caution when dealing with unsolicited offers and verifying buyers in person before completing any transaction.
If you have any concerns or questions about our service, you can reach us at [email protected].

Here is the scam. It is a network of dealers who seek information on any crash of your car. Then they change that it was totally lost. Then they contact you and make you a very low offer since your car is supposedly worth nothing because it was written off as a total loss. These criminals can change the information on the page. Go to official pages. This is a scam. I found my car there as total loss and it was never total loss. Be carefull guys.
Hi Norberto,
Thank you for bringing this up. We want to clarify that VinCheck.info does not contact sellers or buyers, and our service is free for up to five reports. We do not facilitate vehicle offers or change any vehicle records.
Our reports rely on official NMVTIS data submitted by state agencies, insurance companies, and salvage yards. Any claim that our service alters vehicle information is not accurate. For full verification, we always recommend checking multiple official sources.
If you have questions or concerns about a report, you can reach us at [email protected].

From being originally presented as free. Then being told it's $1. Sounds alright whatever I'll just pay the 1$. They charge me $1.44 and a $35 hidden fee. Completely chomped. Only found out about the $35 deduction when I checked my bank statement. Proper scam. Sad I couldn't see reviews until I looked up reviews
Hi Sean,
Thank you for your message. We want to clarify that the screenshot you attached shows TrackTheVIN, which is not affiliated with VinCheck.info.
VinCheck.info offers free NMVTIS-based reports and does not have a $1 package, nor do we charge $1.44, $35, or any hidden fees. Any charges like the ones you described did not come from our service.
We always recommend verifying the website URL and reading reviews before entering payment information. If you have any questions about VinCheck.info, you can reach us at [email protected].

VinCheck.info Team
I ordered the report from Vincheck hoping the report would give me some useful information before I buy the car, but the report is a scam it has information you already know, like the year and make of the car, model, VIN, manufacturer, etc. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY on this report.
Hi Fred,
Thank you for your feedback. We want to clarify a few things: VinCheck.info is free for the first 5 vehicle reports generated per user, and we do not charge for basic vehicle information within this limit.
Additionally, the report you attached shows VinCheckup, which is not affiliated with VinCheck.info. Our reports are based on NMVTIS data and provide vehicle title history, salvage records, and other official information submitted by state agencies, insurance companies, and salvage yards.
We always recommend verifying the website URL before entering any information. If you have questions about VinCheck.info, you can reach us at [email protected].

Literally no info. Specs and recalls only. They came back saying data can be slow to update and the truck hasn't been registered since 2008. Scam!
Hi Jacqueline,
Thank you for your feedback. We want to clarify that VinCheck.info provides free NMVTIS-based reports, which rely on data submitted by state agencies, insurance companies, and salvage yards. Because the information comes from official sources, updates can sometimes be delayed, and vehicles that haven’t been registered in many years may have limited data available.
Our goal is to provide free, reliable vehicle information, but we always recommend checking multiple sources for the most complete history. If you have questions about a report, you can reach us at [email protected].
Best regards,

I got a complete vehicle report plus market value at no cost. I am very amazed that information like these are given absolutely free.

I tried to get the 1.00 purchase for a one time vin check. It then signed me up for reoccurring charges. I called customer service to tell them that I don't want monthly service and they are trying to take a 19.99 cancellation fee from my account. I've emailed them multiple times and now no response. I do not reccomend this service!
Hi Krysta,
Thank you for your message. We want to clarify that VinCheck.info provides free reports for the first 5 vehicles per user. We do not have a $1 subscription or trial, and any charges like the ones you described did not come from our service.
We recommend double-checking the charge on your statement, as it may be from another website using a similar name. If you have questions about VinCheck.info, you can reach us at [email protected].
Best regards,
VinCheck.info Team
I called customer service 5 times in the last few weeks. I got an all lines are busy, will call you back shortly.
Still haven't received a call back. Im being charged for services I did not request.

Site is a joke. Paid the $9.95 for a report, issued me a report for a different vehicle. Same make and model but the information is incorrect and/or fake. Milage is different from the actual car and who knows if the sales history is correct. Car I'm looking at has 44k miles, report is 56,324.
Hi Scott,
Thank you for your feedback. We want to clarify that VinCheck.info does not offer a $9.95 per report service, and the charges or reports you mentioned did not come from our site.
VinCheck.info provides free NMVTIS-based reports for the first 5 vehicles per user, which include official title history, salvage records, and other information submitted by state agencies, insurance companies, and salvage yards.
We recommend double-checking the website you used to ensure it was the official VinCheck.info. For any questions about our free reports, you can reach us at [email protected].

What a bunch of garbage.
There has got to be more information than what these guys sent me. A total waste of $10. My odometer on this truck is over 153,000. They say the last report is in the 23,500 range. I have had reportable accidents with this truck, I have had speeding tickets, I have had the dealership rebuild the transmission at 36,000, I have had it inspected every year since I had got it in 2008. What a messed up system these guys have! I put 1 star and say I would like to rate them a negative 2 stars.
This service is incredibly useful for anyone buying a used car. I can't believe they are providing the information for free! I highly recommend this website for anyone in the market for a used vehicle.
Answer: Yes, you can run a VIN check and download the "title history report". This page lists all the states where the vehicle has been registered - past and present.
Answer: Yes, VinAudit.com is another great option for vehicle history.
Answer: This is an absolutely free VIN check service! I’m thrilled that there are still companies providing valuable information for free.
Answer: VinCheck.info is a legitimate service — it is not a scam. Here's how it works and why people sometimes get confused: What VinCheck.info is: A real vehicle history report service that provides free NMVTIS‑based reports. Users can run up to 5 free vehicle reports per account. Reports include title information, salvage data, and other records submitted to the National Motor Vehicle Title Information System (NMVTIS). What VinCheck.info is not It is not a paid $1 trial service. It does not contact buyers/sellers or sell leads. Why people sometimes think it's a scam Some third‑party sites with similar names sell paid reports or subscriptions — those are not VinCheck.info. Unscrupulous sites may mimic our branding or charge fees; charges from those services don't come from VinCheck.info. Vehicle history data (especially older or unregistered vehicles) may be limited in NMVTIS, so reports can seem sparse compared with paid providers like Carfax — but that's a data source difference, not a scam. How to verify you're using the real service Always check the website URL Look for reports explicitly labeled NMVTIS Our support email is [email protected] If you have questions or need help confirming a report, feel free to reach out to support — they're available to assist.

Hi Zakaria,
Thanks for bringing this to our attention. To help us investigate properly, could you please share the credit card details used for the transaction (last four digits only) and the exact charge date?
Please note that VinCheck.info offers free limited reports, and any valid charge should appear on your statement as “VinCheck.info.” It’s also possible that the charge came from a different company offering a similar service. Once we have the details, we’ll be able to verify this and clarify what happened.
We take billing concerns seriously and are happy to look into this further for you. You may also email us directly at [email protected] for assistance.
