I tried at a couple retail establishments with no luck. I then read that someone had had luck adding it to an amazon gift card. I didn't have any luck with that either, but it now has no balance. Then when I went on its website yesterday, I got a trojan2020 virus which basically tells you your computer is infected. I did get rid of that by clearing my cache and browsing history. I give up as it sounds lie calling their customer service may do you more harm than good.

I received a $500 Vanilla gift card at work and it has been a complete pain in the $#*!. I hate this thing! Initially, I bought a VR headset with it but decided to upgrade to the next version which had just come out so returned it at Best Buy. Everything appeared to be going smoothly until I tried to buy something with the card a couple months later. The card was frozen. I couldn't access my funds. After getting a degree in how to navigate their ridiculous customer service portal, I was eventually able to speak to a human. By this time I was pretty pissed. It took a couple hours before I could figure out how to actually talk to someone. I asked the guy if I could just have a check or cash or anything but what I had and he said that was not possible. He unlocked the card and said I should be able to use it.
The next time I went to use it, it was locked again. I called again and had it unlocked. This time, I decided to try and buy another gift card from a department store using the Vanilla card just so I could be done with Vanilla. What do you think happened? It was locked again. I am absolutely beside myself. I hate this company with every fiber of my being. I told my boss that I would quit if they ever gave me anything associated with Vanilla again. For the life of me, I cannot understand how a functioning company can be this bad at every facet of an otherwise simple business. Horrible!
Bought a card as a gift. When daughter tried to use it, it had already been used. We called customer service and have been dealing with them for 6 months. Since they originally had daughter's address and we had sent her a new card, we asked that send replacement card to our address. They agreed. We even sent copy of our drivers license (March) as proof of address. Found out today (June) that they sent a replacement card even before they asked us for our address in March. I have been calling every couple weeks since then and they never bothered to mention they had already sent replacement. What a waste of my time all these months. Beware if you buy their cards and have an issue. Their customer service is absolutely terrible.
They suck, they are fricking annoying and have c crappy customer support, they dont work on 99% of websites, paypal tells me that its already on another account, etc. i hate them,
I paid 310 dollars for a card to send to another account. The card was no good and returned. That's twice that a bogus card was used for me.after the initial fee of 310 dollars. That makes it 100 each for 2 bogus cards that were late going to the recipient. I want my money.

I recieve the card as a gift. I never set up a pin, but was told I did. And customer service was unable to help. The card ALWYAS declined as a debit purchase. Had to use as a credit purchase. Calling customer service was a waste of time. Do not purchase. No way to check your balance. This becomes money wasted and more in their pocket DO NOT purchase.
I have contacted the fraud dept 6 times concerning the Vanilla gift card I was given by co-workers as a departing for gift. I called to activate the card and was told it had a zero balance. I immediately contacted the fraud dept. and opened up a fraud case. As months elapsed, I contacted the fraud dept to check on the status of my case. Each time I'm told my case is still being investigated. When I ask for the issue to be escalated to a higher manager, I am put on hold and noone ever takes the call. This has been going on for 18 months now. I am so over this scandalous company. I would advise do not buy this gift card!
First i lost 50$ ont vanilla prepaid visa open à file whit vanilla prepaid custumer services on febuary 04 2024 and Still no return from them and on a second card i lost 10 $ that is Block for no reasons and once again costumer service can not fix it so dont buy these cards cause if you have à problème whit il you re gonna be stuck whit your lost
I purchased a $140 gift card. I open it and one of the numbers are scratched off so o can't activate it. I call and they start the process to "fix the issue" and tell me that means a process of sending me a replacement card that will reach within 30 days was the option. I told them that was ridiculous and took it back to the store. They told me there was nothing they could do because a dispute with the card was initiated. The manager of the store told me that I would still be able to use the card, though. She told me that card was activated and ready to use. Ie kept getting declined when I tried to use it. I finally had to call back the company and get another card issued and asked if it could be rushed. No answer. I received the card today and it's only for the orbital balance of $130. Inconvenient, false information, and a waste of time. This company couldn't even offer a $10 gift card for the trouble? This is the worst company and their customer service is horrible. I will never buy from them again and everyone else should save their money too.

Hands down the WORST purchase ever. Purchased a few gift cards for my daughter as she went out of state on a school trip. We actived them, set up a pin and thought she was good to go.
WRONG! Nightmare begins she called me stated the cards didn't work. I immediately called Vanilla using the number on the back of the card, to simply get the run around and repeat of answers during the multiple times I called. You can't do anything online except look at your balance and see your card is activated.
Two of the cards absolutely decline every store we have used it at and will not work anywhere even though they say ACTIVE online and the third card I'm unable to get the remaining balance off one of the cards. Displays card declined or system error try again.
You are not able to use these cards at any stores from what I am discovering. Gas stations, Walmart, Amazon, Zelle/Paypal/Venmo like it says online, any online stores, etc. what I thought would have been an easy thing for my daughter to use have literally been a nightmare on so many levels.
This company is a major scam they get your money and that's it, you are left assed out of money.

I received a $100 Vanilla gift card. When I went to use the card, it would not work. I went to the website and found out that the balance was $1.00! I filed a dispute that the card had been drained. After a two month review, I was advised that the card was used to purchase Amazon items and because of the time delay, there was nothing that could be done. Believe it or not, two weeks later, I received a replacement gift card with a balance of...wait for it...ONE DOLLAR! Save your money and stay clear of this outfit.
This use to be a great card but over time there is less and less I can use the card for. More and more businesses WONT take prepaid cards for payments any more. Plus it sux that I put "my" cash on the card and can NOT get my own cash back off the card. Bought one many times to pay my auto insurance but now my insurance won't accept prepaid cards. My on line games won't accept prepaid cards so now I don't have any reason to purchase one ever again. Notify me if you fix these issues otherwise I will never buy one again no reason for it.
If I could give this company a negative 5 starts I would. Absolutely horrible card experience and even worse customer support. I used this type gift card at a merchant ($75), and then had to return item. Credit was given by merchant back to this gift card, but Vanilla Gift has not recording it or posted credit and we are now 2+ weeks later. I have painfully waded through their 50+ options on their phone line with no luck, and after try after try and finally reaching a live customer service agent, who then who insisted there was no credit (first time I finally got through), then said I had to wait several weeks for credit (2nd time I got through) and then said it would take 45-90 days to see credit post to card (3rd time I finally got through). This is blatant fraud of company taking the credit $'s, using it themselves for interest and not posting and then waiting weeks or months to give credit back. Horrible, Horrible, Horrible customer service. And sadly, person who gave me the gift card had to pay a fee when they bought it (another travesty). Avoid this type of Visa Gift Card at all costs. Terrible company.
I got a gift card for $60 $30 was taking off my. Card they said it would me back on the 13 here we are and now there telling me I having to do some frad thing I ask to take to management and she hung up on me horrible horrible customer service would never buy gift cards from there again

Answer: Same here. Called in and they said it was locked for my protection against a fraudulent merchant, which makes no sense since I just opened it myself and used it at a trusted store. Call in and they can re-issue a new card, though that will take several weeks to arrive
