I purchased a $500 card. I used it once the next day for $35. The next day I tried to use it to pay a bill and there was a $400 unauthorized charge that was pending. Called the company and told them that charge was not mine. Not to let the money go through. They said wait two days it should drop off. It didn't and even after being told the charge was fraudulent they went ahead and let it go through. Now $400 of my money has disappeared and all they'll say is they'll do a fraud investigation and I may have my money back in the next 90 days. This is completely and totally unacceptable and in no way a good business model. $400 may not mean much to some but it means a lot to me. It's the difference between feeding my family and not feeding them. This company could care less I believe that they work from the inside to take money before you have a chance to use it. Don't ever in your life purchase a card from these Crooks. I will be reporting them to the Better Business Bureau and the Department of Justice as well as the Governor's Office of Consumer Affairs. If you have a problem I suggest you do the same it's the only way you'll get any satisfaction. Crooks, crooks, Crooks!
Recently I tried to review my balance on their website. After several attempts I was able to enter my card's info and had a nice balance. Unknowing to me the site had been hacked and the next day when I went to buy groceries, by balance was 13cents. Some gutter creep had stolen $166.80 from me. I had to return all my items. Tried calling customer service, and after several minutes someone answered. I was told to call back in 7 to 8 days to file a claim. They could have easily stop the transaction being it had not fully been processed. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!
I received a $50 Vanilla Visa Card as a birthday gift. When I tried to use it the FIRST TIME, the system said my available balance was 94 CENTS!

Bought Vanilla Gift Card in May 2018. Somehow it was lost in my drawer since then, just forgot about it. Glad did n t give it to anybody as a gift. Thats what i love to do on holiday's or some important life's events. For some unexplainable reason card is empty even though i paid $200 plus$6.95 activation fee. Called company they said that reactivation process require receipt which is unfortunately lost. Having transaction on my credit card statement is not enough proof of purchase. But they could see this transaction which was made in May 2018 means they received my money. I went to Staples hoping to ask copy of the receipt, but they count t find it. I sent to Vanillagift photo of this card to reactivate it. To my surprise they refuse to do so. Their response was if you show receipt we will activate it. Staples on another side said activation is automatic process during scanning. Very disappointing. Vanilla gift has no shame to take advantage of the situation. They don t deserve even 1 star review, but system wouldn't t process my feedback if i would not click on 1 at least. In my opinion its 0 star evaluation.
Activated card and immediately charges showed up. Called 800 number on back to dispute charges. They cancelled my card and told me it would take 45-90 days to investigate and settle. In the meantime, I did not have access to my remaining balance. I have inquired by email several times as to status and received no reply. I have called and customer service rep takes message, confirms my email and says, someone will get back to me. It's been 90 days and I am still waiting. Starting to believe it is a scam. Takes your money for gift card and then keeps it! Don't buy!

I received a gift for Christmas from my job. In January 2022 I tried using it only to find out someone used it at 7-eleven. My gift card was an online only card and 7-eleven does not have an online store. I sent my dispute on March 1st and was told it would be reviewed in 45-90 days. As of today I've called 4 times after my follow up email on April 1st was ignored. They keep telling me I will have an update in 24-48 hours, I wait and then call again. Customer service lacks empathy and the skill to help customers. You'll be left in the dark.
After sending all my info to the BBB & DOJ, the company finally decided I wasn't fraudulent. So I get my money back but they was gonna send on a new card of theirs. They lied,, then I get an email saying that they was just starting the investigation. So that means that the customer service will lie to you. To whomever is dealing with this company contact the DOJ with all your info. I've contacted Dollar General on this matter as well, as that's where it was purchased. Be very careful with this company. This company doesn't deserve being in operation. Good luck to all of ya'll. UPDATE: their customer service lied about them sending my money, in fact they're just now getting to mine. So now this company has told their customer service to lie to the people calling in trying to get their money back. I pray that this company gets shut down & the employees ( all) are laid off & suffering just like they've made me go thru. They need to be boycotted & shut down
I paid 500 on a prepaid card to pay a bill, the first day is unable to be used the second day they lock the card & say fraud, than want my transactions, I used it to pay someone, the only transaction until the company tried to use it. STAY FAR, FAR AWAY, cause they refuse to give me my money back until I agree & fill out paperwork on fraud, when there's none. So they have taken it upon themselves to hold my money from me. Thieves, so stay away, you see one run far away. Dont except it, don't buy one. Stores need to stop helping this company steal folks money.
I filed a dispute with Vanilla gift cards, and have tried for months to get my money back. I filed the dispute in October 2021; and as of April 10,2022 I still have not gotten my money back.
I've held for as long as an hour sometimes.
Most recently a supervisor named Velvet got on the line and introduced herself. After that she refused to say another word. Just sat there on the line.
DO NOT buy these cards. If something goes wrong, they keep your money and do not really attempt to make you whole.

As the other reviewer said, it is impossible to check anything on this card do to the "system error". When I called the number on the back, after entering all the numbers, it says the input was "invalid" please re-enter. Did that very carefully THREE times. What a crock!

You can no longer register these prepaid Visa cards to a name or address on their website. The website and 800 number have far fewer options than before. You are supposed to be able to check a few things on the website but after filling in your card information, many people see a system error message. This problem has been going on for a while. Visa is shredding their name value.
Answer: Same here. Called in and they said it was locked for my protection against a fraudulent merchant, which makes no sense since I just opened it myself and used it at a trusted store. Call in and they can re-issue a new card, though that will take several weeks to arrive
