It's a scam! They block your account for no apparent reason & when you call them they don't answer at all,if they did they put you on hold for 2 hrs. The reason for them blocking, they are suspicious that you the owner of the card is an imposter or fraud when you haven't reported such thing so they just block it. I'm gonna take my money out & put it in a real bank!
I spotted an unauthorized purchase of my account tried to notify them they would not even disputed until after it was paid that took me 2 hours on the phone they're not contacted a person that charged me had them to refund me call back took another 2 hours to get through just to have them tell me I've got to wait 7 to 10 days on my money mind you the whole time I'm doing their job the only person's been inconvenienced here is me the customer they've sat on their asses and did absolutely nothing all morning had me do their job for him and then still made me wait this is not the way business is supposed to work I don't see how these jackasses are still in business and to top it all off I'm the one that's got to pay the insufficient fund fees because they took money out of my account illegally again I'm the only person who did the right thing and I'm the one being charged this is been by far the worst experience I've had was a credit card company save yourself some time and aggravation don't use these $#*! clowns
Issued a new card to the wrong address, they the put funds on the new card without it being activated and didn't tell me anything about the new card.
I cannot get the card reissued online because it was not activated, I have tried, but they reissue the old card.
I cannot get to my funds, I was moving in.

Direct Express is worst for gov benefits. Second month use declined. Cannot get through to resolve issue. Last month, 7 days before getting through. Frustration of benefits being held hostage. 24/7 customer service is a lie. I have tried each day over 24 hour period. No matter time of day/night, they don't answer. It's cost me fees finding alternate ways to pay debts. Horrible!
I would avoid using Direct Express unless you have no other choice. Horrid service. Avoid at all costs. Specifically, if they freeze your card for online purchases, you have no way of reaching them as they keep hanging up. I would rather wait on hold than be hung up on. At least that gives the illusion of your issue being handled. This is ridiculous. It's been three days and no luck getting through. I have bills. Direct Express gonna pay my late fees? SMH.
I was defrauded for over $400 from my social security/ SSI check, Direct Express - through Comerica bank gave me a provisional credit while they "investigated", I used it to cover my losses, then they reversed the credit the next month and took it out again! It was over half my income! I found the scam simply by googling the website that charged me! I waited over 12 hours to speak to someone in the fraud department 2 days in a row. They are so inundated with fraudulent claims they could not be bothered to even Google the website that took half my social security disability check!
Absolutely appalled with this company I never leave reviews but I can not believe what I've dealt with the past few days my daughter's receive survivors benefits and their cards don't expire for another two years but they decided on their own to send out new cards which were sent out on the 12th of December and loaded their benefits onto them and it's the 5th of January and I've yet to get the cards had been calling customer service for the past two days just to be told high call volume then hung up on finally got thru tonight and the customer service representative was the rudest I have ever dealt with absolutely disgustingly rude by the time the call was over I was almost in tears I was so mad I haven't had problems with the cards but the customer service and trying to get a hold of them was enough to make me done with this company
Worst debit card I've ever had the displeasure of having to use. Our government makes us use this service (if you can call it a service) and its about as dependable as our trash government. When you have a problem and believe me you will have problems, you have the luxury of 24/7 customer service that you can't get through to 99% of the time. You'll have to enter and listen to the same information repeatedly as you continuously attempt to reach them. Just to have a recording tell you to try again later and hang up on you. A miracle happened once when I was calling back to back around 3:30/4:00 am and I actually got to talk to a real life person. She told me she fixed my issue and I'd actually get to use my debit card in 2 hours. Too bad that wasn't true as I still can't do anything with this worthless piece of plastic. I've been attempting another miracle for about 10 hours and 100's of calls with nothing but being hung up on by the recording. I hate Directexcrement! I mean Directexpress! Waste of time and a huge source of stress, anger and frustration. Good luck to you and God help you if you have the misfortune to have to deal with this trash.
I do not recommend this at all. If you ever were to have an issue you will have to deal with them over the phone and if you need to prove your identity it can be close to impossible. The SSA no longer helps people to reach them since it was taking 4 hours to reach their ACH person. When they reissue a card sometimes direct express won't see the funds but the ACH people do see it, like there is a disconnect between comercia and direct express. It's a horrible mess.
$600 fraud on card reported 11/22 and was told paperwork was sent out and needed to be sent back by 12/4. Called for three days and was on hold for hours each day to be told the paper was mailed out 11/23/22 but I didn't receive paperwork until 12/7 and it needed to be back by 12/4 so no provisional credit could be given. Was given 8 days to receive and return the paperwork. Horrible service.
Please use another method for federal benefits.
Now possibly I may get my money back in 45-90 days

This is a scamming company, I am not sure why the government is using these cards. My client is without his money for months because he forgot his pin and they just keep transferring him to an automatic system that does not help you!
Recently they changed the website I told the lady on the phone that I had power of attorney of my mom and i can send documentation to prove it. She said she couldn't help me over the phone unless the account holder can verify but my mom had a stroke 5 years ago and he speech is slur.he mad meme call my mom and have her verify her social address and name it took us 15 minutes for her to understand this is brutal and uncalled for from this service rep. Ive been helping my mom for years with her banking with US Direct Express transferring the money form her retirement to her bank account. Recently they changed their website and now you have to enter a new card number you cant even use the old card number that we had so they are now forcing you to get a new credit card, wait 5 day and then enter that new number so the card and money goes into that new number. She has bills she needs to pay and now is going to be late on everything because of this stupidity from them changing the website and not nothing or giving anyone any alerts of whats needed so we can prepare...worst company ever to use I even tried asking them if there a way to bypasss this so that we can transfer the money or they can do it for us she needs this to live and theydont give a %UCK.
Please do not use this card for your put hard earned social security money. They are frauds and will steal your money, when you complain, they say they are going to investigate then send you a letter that says all charges were authorized. You ask for proof of their investigation and they send nothing that shows they actually investigated it, just a repeat of the statement they sent in the first place. And you cannot talk to the fraud department.oh that is a definite no-no. My mother was taken for over $3000.00. There were 72 transactions that were made in one day somewhere in California, we live in Texas, to a Walgreens photo department, over $2000, small amounts, 25-30 dollars a transaction. Would that not trigger them to put a hold on the card, call you or text you because it is not your normal routine? One would think so but they did not, their excuse was since COVID, many people shop online so we don't question it…really! I think it is an inside job so that is why their investigation is non existent. There were several transactions to Google vision, I don't even know what that is let alone does my 87 year old mother! And when you call them you are put on hold for literally hours! When they do answer they are rude and make you feel as if you did something wrong. They do not care about you or your money. For the government to suggest that the elderly use this card for their social security is absolutely insane. Please protect your loved one and do not let them use this card! My mom immediately took the rest of her money out and is now using a credit union where her money is protected. For them to prey on the elderly who live month to month on their small social security check is insensitive, heartless and down right shameful!
If you value your benefits, run from this card. Customer service will hang up in your face. You will not be able to access your funds if you need to transfer them to your bank account. You've been warned. Don't do it! Direct Express has extremely bad reviews all over the net.
I have had direct express before, and I have had the direct express card for y1 ear, and I regretted it! They crack me up when they mentioned protection from fraud when they're the ones doing the fraud, they withdraw money from your account for no reason if you don't watch them they will take your entire funds, they are not trained to handle any situation, their rude, and disrespectful, they don't care about you or your problems because their the ones causing the problems with your funds, the sad thing is when the government take their funds back they don't replace it, if they do its only two times after that they don't refund your money anymore, and if you loose your card then you wind up waiting for 3 or 4 weeks for a replacement card,,, but the sad thing is that Direct Express is on the BBB as a bad business to work with they changed their names multiple times, and that everyone I know who is on this system has been robbed... the government has all these lies on how they protect us from fraud, and how they are the best for all of us when their are full of sh*t what ever bank that Direct Express is connected to is also committing fraud
Since I left direct express, I have not been facing fraud take some advice and leave direct express or you will always have money missing from your account, and dealing with untrained workers, and if you decide to stay then good luck

This company is absolutely DREADFUL. At first they were awesome. But now it seems like we're getting constant notifications about making "fraudulent" transactions which result in your card getting declined, just for something simple like getting food or clothes. Also, there was NO correspondence that they were merging to one card instead of having two separate ones which now results in waiting on a new card with a payment we can't even use right now. This is very inconvenient because we have to pay bills and get groceries. Customer service is halfway decent, except you cannot speak to someone at the other call center because of "Heavy call volume" which has been happening for DAYS. I would not recommend this company to ANYONE.
Can't get through to speak with somebody at customer service, been since Thursday December 1st, today is the 4th always " High Call Volumes" even at 0200
This co. Is bull$#*!! I have been calling cust svc for 3 $#*!ing days. Call will not go through. Listen & follow ALL prompts "transferring you to cust svc" then automated voice comes back and says "try later" CLICK! WHAT? I can't speak to anyone about my $#*!ing money? SSA needs to burn their contract with this $#*!ty company and put business elsewhere!
Deactivated my present card and put my deposit on new card and I don't even have the new and never been activated. Will be seeing an attorney Monday due to their carelessness. Look them up online they are a complete fraudulent company.please read their reviews.they we're involved in a lawsuit in the state of georgia.please stay away they can care less about anyone. Type their name and type lawsuit and you will see. And also I will be calling my local tv station to explain my situation they left and put me in. They don't even deserve 1 star they deserve a minus million stars
I can't pay my bills and I can't because I'm having problem with my account.I been trying to talk to someone since seven o'clock.
Answer: Absolutely not! The system is automated if you can meet your need via that system you will be good to go. If you need to speak to a human it could takes hours and days. I've been calling for 4 days. Every hour 2 - 20 calls an hour. I receive the message they have a high call volume, they tell me to try again later and then they disconnect they call. Their practices are abusive.
