I continuously had problems with Direct Express complaining that somebody was making purchases from Walmart on gift cards. In June of this year another $300 and gift cards one for $100 the other one for $200 we're supposedly purchased I called Walmart Walmart tonight any purchases were made in my name for Walmart gift cards but yet Direct Express says purchases were made I asked them to call Walmart they said they would not call Walmart they denied my claim two times they mailed expedited debit cards to me they failed to put my space number down they charged me the $17.50 for the expedited service I was told I would be refunded the first two because Direct Express failed to put my space number once again I was denied that $35 for both of those Direct Express is a fraud they do not help the people they only take from the people
This is the 3rd time this Bank tried to steal my disability payday they do it because they are scammers & criminals.
It's the first of the month I made a few transactions and than they completely froze my account. Everytime that I call I get hung up on after getting a recording saying "They are experiencing a high call volume. This happens EVERY DAMN MONTH! Now I can't get through to a customer service agent so they can unfreeze my damn card! Me and my kids need groceries, our phone bill and rent paid and I keep getting hung up on! This is totally unacceptable!
Horrible... You can't get through to anyone. Even after being on hold for literally hours, you get immediately hung up on. Customer service is terrible, the website is garbage, and they make you jump through hoops, for weeks some times, for the simplest of things...
When you call the customer service number you're put on hold FOREVER! They are rude and unprofessional. The recording says look on back of your card for the minuscule customer service number! I couldn't READ! I turned binoculars upside down and I finally read the number just to be kept on hold for now 1/2 an hour. They don't have a gue for them to call you back. They have never helped me before and it's almost impossible to find this number online. Even if you report a fraudulent activity they do NOTHING! I just read they are being sued by US Veterans and Disabled People! I am going to try to join the law suit and I hope they close this crap down and they pay especially our Veterans a TON OF MONEY BASED ON DX Card FRAUDULENT ACTIVITIES! Please Retweet, Post this on a social media because we deserve better treatment!
I recently learned that someone hacked my DE debit card and made... wait for it... 1600 purchases and DE never notified me. The agent told me it wasn't their responsibility. I've never waited for less than 50 minutes and, sometimes, 2-1/2 hours. The agents are incompetent and abrupt (have a quota?). I've been looking for a good lawyer in case Direct Express denies my dispute claim.

This is a horrible company. They have the worst customer service. It takes a long time to resolve issues. They are not user friendly. They are a big inconvenience when it comes to resolving disputes. Its difficult to get anyone on the phone. The automated phone system is very inconvenient when trying to resolve matters. Don't use them. Open a bank account.
First of all this company, apparently hires anyone that DOES NOT have customer service skills much less understanding of how you talk to and treat people, and yes even the supervisors. Giving me false information, and getting a customer service rep that isn't having a bad day and Is actually helpful your better off trying to get a brick wall give you a response because being treated like an idiot Is not something that I will accept especially after fighting 8 years for this country and the window lickers in customer service that shouldn't be in their positions.
WORST COMPANY IN THE WORLD THE DISPUTE DEPARTMENT DOES NOT INVESTIGATE S***IT AND I HAVE THE PROOF THEY DENIED MY CLAIM WHERE IS AN OPEN AND SHUT CASE I NVER RECEIVED AN ITEM I ORDERED AND THE MERCHAND IS NO WHERE TO BE FOUND TOTAL SCAM NOT TO DIFFICULT TO FIGURED OUT ALL THEY HAD TO DO IS SEARCH FOR THE STORE OR TRY TO CALL FOR THEM TO KNOW IT WAS FAKE, WHAT THEY DID WAS DENY MY CLAIM BECAUSE ACCORDING TO THEIR INTERNAL RECORDS THE CHARGE WAS AUTHORIZE WHICH THAT WAS NOT MY COMPLAINT WAS THE I NEVER RECEIVED THE ITEM AND THE STORE IS FAKE SO CLEARLY THEY DONT DO NOTHING TO INVESTIGATE THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME THEY DO THIS TO ME BUT THIS TIME IM NOT GONNA LET IT GO THEY NEED TO LOOSE THE CONTRACT WITH THE DEPARTMENT OF TREASURY THIS IS ALMOST FUNNY AND RIDICULOUS.

Save yourself the time and money and open up a real account these people are worse than a loan sharks. I learned the hard way. They put my backpay in a expired account hadn't used in over a year even though had a registered account with them. They blamed ssa. Then charged me 13.50 to send a new card that they never said I was paying for. Then another card, for what I don't know making it a total of 3 cards. Just a rip-off. I'm closing all 3 after I withdraw my money bye bye direct express tricks no good
Worst customer service I have ever experienced. Cant get through on the phone, they don't even give you the option of staying on hold, they just disconnect
TOTALLY USELESS CUSTOMER SERVICE THEY NEVER INVESTIGATE FRAUDULENT CHARGES AND YET ALWAYS DENIED CLAIMS I CANT BELEIVE THE DEPARTAMENT OF TREASURY RENEWED THEIR CONTRACT. SOOOOOOOOOO FRUSTRATING.
You can not get a record of your transactions unless you request it. Supposedly you can get it online but good luck with that. I set up an account and the second time it said I was using an incorrect password and sent a temp one to my email I had to go back and sue the temporary password to set up a new one. Then after doing that it said it was sending me an email to retrieve it. But even though they had just sent something to my email, that password never arrived. This happened on half a dozen attempts. So you cannot use the web site. If you call the number you get an endless voicemail loop, ultimately-- if you are lucky to get that far, they say due to high call volume you are out of luck. Hey use the web site it says or call back. Click. You can also request a mailed print out of your transactions, but only at the end of the month. It costs extra and ho btw you have to get a person on the phone to request it or right the useless web site. I swear they do all this on purpose. The better to take a few bucks out of your account and you cannot monitor it. I am missing money I am sure and this has happened several times. One time a few years ago I finally got a customer service rep and a print out and yes somebody bought several hundred dollars worth of tires on my card 3,000 miles away.
This company should not handle or be associated with social security they are a horrible card company they don't care never update there info send your card to wrong address call customer service good luck never put there supervisor on the phone if could rate would be below zero get better service is at the porque please set ups bank account or add to a walmart card before getting a card for direct deposit there gettho as all hell
Try to use my card at pharmacy was told my card no longer works. After 3 hours and 47 minutes I finally got a hold of someone at direct Express only them to tell me there's nothing they could do about it and they didn't know what was wrong. Actually had to have someone through social security call them to be able to use my card again because they messed up. Customer service sucks I was treated like it was my fault and I'd done something wrong. I will be looking for a different service besides direct Express if this is how it works forget it. You might want to think about doing that yourself don't bother with direct Express
Calling them is crazy! On hold for 57 minutes. Claimed they are really busy! This third party company that Social security works with must be the cheapest possible. THEY are not good at all. Suddenly after I spoke with her for maybe one minute to explain my reason for calling, SHE HUNG UP ON ME!
I would not recommend this bank. Only if you have no other choice. Find other means to get your SSA, as soon as possible
Took me 3 hours to reach a live person on the phone. When you dial, if no one is available, you get disconnected.
After 3 hours I got a live person but he stated he did not have the authority to complete my request and he'd have to switch me to another department. I waited online for an hour and no one came on to speak to me. So frustrated I finally just hung up. 4 hours to try and speak to customer service on a debit card is just ridiculous.
Answer: Absolutely not! The system is automated if you can meet your need via that system you will be good to go. If you need to speak to a human it could takes hours and days. I've been calling for 4 days. Every hour 2 - 20 calls an hour. I receive the message they have a high call volume, they tell me to try again later and then they disconnect they call. Their practices are abusive.
