Got a new card in mail activated it. Worked for a day then was locked. No notice nothing family member passes tried to pay for dinner for family nope could not. Called waiting hours just to speak to someone who barely spoke English then said my info was wrong and wanted a picture of my license. I told em this was a outrage and I need to speak to manager. Was told I had one warning. I said f your warning get me a manager got second warning. Asked for manager again got third warning. Hung up on. Now I call again and am on hold for even longer around 2 hrs. To get a women saying I was sent to wrong department I said please give me a manager she laughed and went into a speech about it was not her duty cause I need to call back. These people are pure terrorist to anyone on disability. Please will someone get to the bottom of this. At this moment there holding my money hostage. If I don't get through in a few days I'll cancel my account with them. NEW AGE NAZIS!
I don't even know where to begin, first of all, you cannot get ANYBODY on the phone that works there! I have tried since last month to get a new card because mine expired and FINALLY was able to talk to an employee. The longest wait time was 5 hours! My phone almost DIED. Doesn't matter what time you call, they always say they are experiencing a high call volume and to call back later. Anyways, as I suspected they sent out my new card to the wrong address. I move a lot and apparently SS doesn't share current info with them, so okay fine they said I would get a new card within 10 business days. Well, it's been over 3 weeks! NO CARD IN THE MAIL. I am SO DONE WITH DIRECT EXPRESS. This is the worst company I have ever delt with! NO CUSTOMER SERVICE AT ALL. The wait times are unbelievable to talk to a human being on the phone. Half the time it would just hang me up automatically, no joke! So then I tried the website and that was no better. The website kept saying I was entering the wrong information when I was not. So that was completely useless, Soon as I can get my new card I AM CLOSING IT. I am calling up Social Security and telling them to close this account they have for me there! I am a disabled person and need help and these people DO NOT CARE. STAY AWAY AT ALL COSTS FROM DIRECT EXPRESS
What I don't understand is given all the bad reviews this company has not only here but everywhere online, HOW IN THE WORLD does Social Security still end up using them as a bank?
This Comerica Bank, a government run bank, has by far one of the worst customer services. The hairs on my body rise everytime I have to give these reps my Social Security number. But to be fair they all seem to have excellent training on how to hang up on the customer or give no service at all programs. If you work for CoAmerica/Direct Express there should be nothing to be proud about. You might as well work for Bank of America; same crap of service.
Drop my card in store. Security guard pickup card while behind me. During that time I was putting frezze on my card. I don't have any money. To issue new card I have to pay 4.95 or 13.95 to rush it within 3day. (more like 3-5) 10 days to get new card. Will not unblock card. I'm going to cut the new card up. Change my direct deposit to someone (greendot, Chime.) better reviews and customer service. Upset Senior.

I received a text directly from us direct express stating that my pin had changed and to call them if it wasnt done by me. I called them. They had no idea what i was talking about even though the VERY FIRST prompt asks you if thats why youre calling. I was trying to find out if a new card was being issued and to cancel it as it was going to an old address from 2 years prior, and to change my address. For some reason, this was a very difficult concept for ANY of the agents i spoke with to grasp. I ended up deactivating the account, just to keep my information safe.
I AM WRITING TO TELL PEOPLE THAT I DID NOT HAVE A PROBLEM GETTING MY DIRECT EXPRESS CARD BUT When it came to activating the card. Which normally you just call a phone number and its activated that is not was required this time they wanted a birth certificate and photo I.D. i already leave messages for Kristen Gillibrand a senator and Phillip Weigner a state attorney in Denver Colorado and have already told the federal Trade Commission about how I have been treated. I wouldn't advice to get direct express, a couple months they have stolen 303.00. They say they gave me a refund but they didn't.so please beware!
If you haven't switched to or decided on a Direct Express card... DONT!... I am still waiting for a dispute for someone taking money off my card and it's been 12 days and their 5-10 day replacement card still hasn't come and I just now found out that the dispute could take 1 1/2 to 3 months for them to credit the money I need to live on and now I can't even pay my rent because of DIRECT EXPRESS!... They even told me it was happening to a lot of people, So why 3 months when it's obviously not our faults!?... DON'T HAVE YOUR SSI MONEY PUT ON ONE OF THESE THEFT CARDS!... I WAS THE FIRST ONE TO SAY THIS COULD NEVER HAPPEN TO ME!?... RUN! AND RUN AWAY FAST FROM THIS CARD!
Direct Express will block access to your Social Security account arbitrarily without warning, claiming suspicion of fraudulent activity -- but will not specify the reason for the suspicion, nor will they issue anything in writing about the action or the policy behind it. You will thus be subject to embarrassment and inconvenience or worse when your card is declined everywhere. Calls to customer service always requires hold time of 1/2-hour-plus. Customer service gives runaround with attitude -- will pretend not to hear you and hang up, etc. Each rep will give different excuse as to why they block your account. They will not tell you when or how access to your account will be restored. Elderly and disabled status means absolutely nothing to these sociopaths -- they are in the business of defrauding the powerless. Smells like a criminal fraud scam to tie up your money in currency speculation, denying you and millions of other Social Security recipients access to accounts in the meantime. Direct Express is a national disgrace. Calls to Comerica Bank which issues the card elicits complete denial of any responsibility.
I've had this card for 10 years I'm moving my money to a bank these people are idiots you can never get a hold of anybody they can lock your money up for weeks and you won't be able to access it if you have a complaint the place to go is the federal trade commission ftc.gov/complaint,

I do not like direct express at all. Cause they are ripoffs and they don't listen and block the card and hang ys. That is very $#*! up. Bad experiences. No one should deal with express. Go to avid is better they overcharge and 5ake money from your card ATM.
7 Hours On Hold No Response "24/7 Customer Service" Yeah Right More Like 24 Hours On Hold… Cards Been Declined For 2 Months Now And They Refuse To Unblock It Sh** Company -* For Unprofessionalism
I've called direct express 4 times in the last two days I've waited on hold yesterday for over 2 hours and Still never got in touch with a human. Now I have called again and still waiting on hold for over 30 minutes and still have not got to talk to anyone because all I get is put on hold and it says all our reps are still busy.
All I can literally say is this place is hoooorrriibbbllleeee! If you can get a real bank get it, this place is a complete headache. You will call and consistently be hung up on by the system being told "we have a extreme number of calls, visit out website. Go to the website and 19/20 times you can't access it as you're prompted with "can't connect to host server" so you have to call back and deliberately go to wrong department which is the only way to get a person, sit waiting for an hour to an hour and a half then get transfered and be on hold another 2 hours. For me my card keeps locking up repeatedly any time I try to make a online purchase such as pay my cell phone or buy a $20 headset. I've had to call now for the 3rd time today alone if had to call since my card refuses to stay unlocked. I've spent over 9 hours today on hold and now I'm on hold again for the 4th time with same exact issue they say they fixed the last 3 times I've called today and this isn't a rare event here! This place is god awful!

Answer: Absolutely not! The system is automated if you can meet your need via that system you will be good to go. If you need to speak to a human it could takes hours and days. I've been calling for 4 days. Every hour 2 - 20 calls an hour. I receive the message they have a high call volume, they tell me to try again later and then they disconnect they call. Their practices are abusive.
