Upwork has provided reliable and professional source of talent to meet my business needs. For short term and even long term requirements, I have always found amazing talents to work on my processes.
Of course this is no miracle solution. The key is meticulously reviewing and interviewing freelancers to best suit your business principles. It's the same with regular hiring. Upwork just makes it easier and faster.
Upwork is a very good website to earn money. There are some difficulties with what is high percentage, but it can be explained.

So I came to Upwork again and thought I give another try in getting in. After some adjustment to my profile, I got in... I start doing some stuff like send proposals and surfing the site for jobs related to what I do as a photoshop artist. Soon or days later I found out that Upwork has a bad policies and some flaws. Apparently they will kick you out if your not making it. Like not being at the top like others. Their site has too much fees and it seems like you got to buy connects once you wasted on proposals. Its hard to find the right jobs and well who knows how long I got being there? Their project catalog is crap. Its almost like Fiverr but with just too many details. They don't have a box for additional images. It looks the site is dying. They got over 7 million members but over thousand members are on..
Upwork is unevitable tool for freelancers and companies.
As Artist, I'm very grateful to God and the hardwork of the upwork team for the oportunity to know and have a good relationship with clients and studios of the world; making our routine more easy, automating contracts, fees (we can prepare automatic reports for national fees! :) ), billing and calculations. I love so much the gamefied way to manage our profiles, accumulating points long of the time.
Guys, you have notion? You're helping professionals where the national economy is having severe problems, politicals and pandemic. This is very important about everything in more poor regions...

I love Upwork's terms of service. Some freelancers might think it's too uncomfortable while using it. But actually, it's to protect all works and payments there. Highly recommend Upwork to freelancers. You'd better start work on Upwork with your new clients outside. Upwork will be the trustable third party to you.

There are so many competitors there, though I feel happy to race with them. Clients would meet well-skilled freelancers on Upwork and get great deliveries. And Upwork will be a responsible third party between us. Hope we'd meet together there.

I was with Elance and smelled slime when the merger took place. I never joined.
A few years ago the ratings for Upwork on this site were in the toilet.
On these other sites I've listed, they are STILL in the toilet.
I was scammed by a dishonest agent and paid $500 for nothing. After 2 months of waiting, the freelancer I hired finally declared that he wasn't able to deliver the work and didn't want to issue a refund. I asked for Upwork's help, and after 3 week of back and forth Upwork finally told me: Due to no agreement reached within the timeline given, the dispute and ticket is closed. You have the option to pursue the case independently outside Upwork"
This is basically called a robbery. Please all be aware that your payments are absolutely NOT protected on Upwork.
When people ask me, what do I do for living aside from my traditional work, I said ' FREELANCING' and then I mentioned Upwork... and they said WOOWWWW!... and I answered them boastfully with smile. YES! I can't compare Upwork to other sites when it comes to freelancing. It's more than a five.
Working with Upwork helped me grow both my network of clients and helped me reach my long-term dream of having a successful agency, they have a huge number of clients that fits my niche and that's super awesome.

Upwork is good for freelancers to find clients from all over the world. There are lots of opportunities for interesting and varied work. You might have to submit quite a lot of proposals to get going but I have not had to buy any 'connects' yet. The increased service fee of 20% feels too high so I can't give 5 stars. The website is easy to use and had many useful features.
It is an amazing experience having freelance contracts with world wide clients via Upwork. This platform helps me to find highly valuable clients for my software projects, products and even for consultation services. I'm so happy to continue freelancing with Upwork and recommend for other professionals too.

Answer: I am a customer and have had a really horrible experience. Upwork claims a 100% guarantee before you pay anything. That is not true. The process is actually quite horrible. You put money in escrow. You only get your money back after a bad contract if the freelancer agrees to release the money. If the freelancer refuses, you get a bargain offer to still pay them something but still you are paying for a bad job you can't use. Then, if you refuse to bargain over a bad job, you are told that it will cost you an additional $389 to arbitrate with a 3rd party affiliate that the customer (me), the freelancer (scammer) and Upwork (ripoff enabler) has to pay. I took it all the way to arbitration with the end result being that Upwork decided that I was just too uninformed to know their policy and that they would give me a one time only refund of my original amount. What they didn't tell me what that they just gave me a "credit" of my original amount and that was the end. So I am still out the original amount and can't get my money back. This sight is a ripoff. Plain and simple.
