I have found 2 tutors on Tutorhunt and have been happy with both. I find it best to make a detailed enquiry with potential tutor and if they are what I am looking for I purchase details. In this way I can find out if they have specific exam board experience for instance. All tutors have replied promptly to me over the past 3 years so I am happy to continue using them. It seems people here are buying details without checking availability.
I've found Tutorhunt to be brilliant.
I dont really understand other peoples issues... You're reviewing the tutor here, not the service of Tutorhunt getting you the tutor.
Tutorhunt is used to FIND a tutor, they dont specifically supply them. Its upto you to look through their utors, pick one with a good review (And first lesson free to counteract the cost of buying their details) and then off you go.
If you had a bad tutor, then its the tutors fault, not tutorhunt.
Pro tip, pick only qualified teachers to get a better chance of a good tutor. They have reviews with their profiles also:)
I had an amazing experience
I would recommend this site to anyone looking for a tutor, they had lots listed and its very easy to use.
This company takes your money, you get a tutor who turns up once or can't teach the subject and you are left with no tutor and it has cost you £25 introduction fee. Goodness knows what you are paying for. They ignore all emails and messages, other than sending automated emails but no-one will talk to you. I don't believe there is anyone there at this business, it is an online scam. Find a tutor through word of mouth or locally. Beware, you have been warned.
I have been registered with Tutorhunt (as a tutor) for over a year. They were very thorough in checking my details and qualifications, so students can be confident that the tutor is genuine and qualified to teach the subjects advertised. My experience over the last year has been very positive and most of the students that I tutor, found me through this site. I would definitely recommend Tutorhunt to tutors and students alike.
As a qualified teacher, I found the site only to be interested in taking money from pupils. I was not allowed to arrange any tutoring until pupils had bought my details but most never did. Instead I was bombarded with questions with them never actually purchasing my details and who can blame them with such an extortionate fee to simply arrange tutoring. I was also spammed with details of pupils in Essex when I live in Kent. Poor service, please avoid.
After searching other sites with no success, we registered with TutorHunt and found a couple of available tutors for us that day. I would recommend the service as it is fast and easy to use. They were even cheaper than the alternatives we tried as well.
Great service - we found a teacher on this web site. She is very patient and insightful to help my daughter focus.
My son in just a couple of weeks has gained confidence and now actually enjoys his tutoring sessions - which is half the battle. Always on time and excellent with communication. We are very pleased.
Tutor Hunt is clear and easy to use. The tutor profiles are great and well organised - we found a great tutor. Thanks!
Excellent service and extremely easy to use - I will use them again if I need another tutor for my son.
I hired Rieman to tutor me in A level Economics and Maths. Rieman does have a good background in maths for GCSE, however when i hired him for A level Maths, he was not reliable in tutoring me. Unfortunately, he would only cover topics once and not be willing to go over the topic again, even if i found a particular concept difficult to understand.
Despite having studied Economics at A level, i can honestly say he is not competent nor capable of tutoring in this subject. His approach of just reading textbooks, and repeating the information was not effective nor helpful. Despite telling him this, he displayed a stubborn attitude and continued with this approach. In regard to actually revising and doing practice papers for the edexcel syllabus, he was not willing to help me write or even structure my essays. Despite prior having told him, that this was my weakest area. His approach of completely relying on mark schemes was not helpful either, i think a student is capable of doing this in their own time.
In terms of professionalism, Rieman was not punctual, often arriving late to sessions on a regular basis. When i had informed him of this issue, he would agree to arrive on time however he continued arriving late to each session. I found that during the sessions, Rieman can be very argumentative and at times has used offensive language towards me. His behavior was not acceptable and i would not recommend employing him as a tutor for your son or daughter.
Excellent site and they provided my son with a great tutor who was able to help him with Maths. They were very thorough and an educated tutor, the whole experience really went beyond my expectations.
I would like to meet a tutor in a neutral venue like a coffee shop. I don't mind giving my mobile phone number or email address to a potential tutor and I don't mind giving my home address to TutorHunt BUT, WHEN YOU BUY A TUTOR'S CONTACT DETAILS, TUTORHUNT GIVES THEM YOUR HOME ADDRESS DETAILS WHICH I DO NOT LIKE. It is ok if the tutor is a nice person but you never know.
Twice bought details and still no tutor.
Illness, flu, emergency lectures, free but not today, don't turn up... etc
The list goes on. £50 spent and still no help... and LOTS of time messing around.
Very poor site... messages do not appear when posted. Some only the next day... too late!
So save your money and time... go somewhere else. Gumtree local perhaps... you can just call the tutor.
MY EXPERIENCE WITH THE TUTORHUNT IS NOT A GOOD ONE, BOUGHT TUTOR CONTACT ON LINE. THE TUTOR STOP COMMUNICATION. WOULDN'T BORDER CONTACTING US. we drove the the contact address that was sold to us, it was an empty house. We ask neighbors. The house has been empty for years.
Mixed feelings. We found 2 tutors for my son. One has proved to be excellent and cannot fault him.
The other not so good. Turned up for the 1st half a dozen lessons, then started to make excuses then stopped communicating and turning up all together.
Would really help that when they behave like this that they should be taken of the register so they prevent from doing this to other pupils who appoint them in good faith and begin to rely on them and be dropped without any reason or warning.
I found this an excellent site, I wanted a tutor for my 10 year old granddaughter to assist her in final year at primary school. I was given a choice of about 6 tutors in local area and a chance to to exchange as many messages as I needed to find the best tutor. After I made the payment to TutorHunt, I received the tutor's contact details within minutes and the lesson is booked.
Paid for tutors contact details, they kept saying they were busy, then when I did make an appointment didn't bother showing up. When I emailed asking if they had trouble finding me told me 'they wern't bothering tutoring anymore'
I complained to site didn't get offered my money back and months later the same tutor is still on their site so others can waste their time and money!
Answer: Firstly I would like to say I am sure this site is legitimate and there are genuine tutors willing to help. However my daughters experience has been far from positive as the tutor which I paid a fee of £23 for has no subject knowledge of what we require (this was not brought to light before we purchased their details). Following a rather unusual phone call the tutor has now sent an abusive email. I fear this is instead of admitting lack of subject knowledge. As a result I would say stay away from this site, however this could be an isolated incident.
