Housesitters
August 17, 2020

We have used Trusted House Sitters 3 times. Each time has been a good experience. We feel very comfortable leaving our pets and house to the sitters. They have treated our animals very well. They have always been calm when we have returned home. We are not stressed about leaving our pets in the hands of the house sitters. It is perfect for us and our animals get to stay home!

I did not have the best experience with Trusted House Sitters. I had a simple request – take care of one adorable cat for 3 weeks. I had three responses to that request and within days all of them declined because they got ‘better offers.' One didn't want to travel across borders due to corona which I understood. So I lost all three and then started doing research on profiles and inviting people to apply. Everyone turned me down. One of the people who accepted told me she was positive that she would come so I bought my flights. The next day she declined. A stressful emotional roller coaster. THS has a guarantee which I was counting on if this didn't work: ‘If you do not receive any sitter applications within 14 days of posting your first listing, you'll receive your money back with no strings attached.' While I did receive applications, all of them cancelled their applications so in effect there were no valid applications. I finally found a cat sitter through friends and contacted THS for a refund since I met the criteria of no valid application during the first two weeks. They refused my request for a refund. This coronavirus has given companies the opportunity to take advantage of their customers. I've been fighting two airlines for 6 months to get refunds on flights they cancelled. Ive had hotels with free cancellation policies refuse to refund me, and now this. I hope everyone remembers who treated them right and who didn't during this crisis and that we make sure those companies who were greedy are not patronized when things get better.

Leaving your animals at home while on vacation can be stressful on you and them. With TrustedHouseSitters it doesn't have to be. The website is easy to use and the sitters are the absolute best! We have always received multiple applications for our sits and choosing is difficult because they would all be great. We have been very pleased with our sitters and you cannot beat the price! In the past we used Rover but it was very cost prohibitive when traveling for extended times. We will only use Rover now if we cannot get someone through TrustedHouseSitters.

There are a lot of websites out there, designed to help you get or do something you need. But Trusted Housesitters may just be the best one I have ever had the good luck to come across. The relatively low yearly fee is SIGNIFICANTLY less than I would spend, paying to have even one pet cared for at by a paid petsitter or worse, a kennel. We have four - plus plants, and packages arriving at all times of the day and night... Trusted Housesitters has made it a real pleasure to find and connect with people who love having a place to stay, all for the great price of taking care of our pets! We've had really good experiences each time we have gone away - and our pets get to stay home, comfortable in their familiar environs. We do live in a popular place (NYC), which may help, but it's a terrific service for us.

I had no inclination that this would be such a rewarding experience. The guidance from the staff, the wonderful person who came into my home and the quality of care my pet received... It was all beyond my hopes and dreams.

LOVE THIS WEBSITE
August 9, 2020

I had a house/pet sit in Paris over the Christmas Holidays and loved the experience so much I wanted to do it again. After seeing some facebook ads and doing a bit of research I discovered that international house/pet sitting is really a thing. I liked what I saw on the trusted housesitters website and subscribed to be a sitter. Due to Covid, I'm not traveling overseas currently but have been chosen for 2 of the 3 sits that I have applied for in my home state. Its been a great experience. Nice homes and wonderful pets. Some of the sititng opportunitues abroad look amazing and I'm looking forward to applying for some of them post-pandemic. In the month since I've subscribed Ive already gotten my money's worth and I think its a great platform that provides great value. Highly recommend.

Laborious service
August 8, 2020

I love using Trusted Housesitters. I have been a member for over 4 years. They have a great vetting system and you can see what other's have thought. I have found wonderful people to watch my pets from all over the world. It is important that you try and video meet the sitters and get your own feeling for them. Not all who apply are the perfect fit. I have also found it important to have people at home that are emergency contacts that will go over to your home if needed.
Any concerns have been immediately answered- their customer service is great. This is such a great idea.

Update of Trustedhousesitters Billing
August 8, 2020
Updated review

After being written off by email from James of the member experience executive team, I ended up emailing someone in the opperations Dept. of Trustedhousesitters. I am pleased to report that that Paul, Head of Membership Services sent me an email this morning apologizing for the negative experience I had. As an act of goodwill, the company is reimbursing the annual fee, and also extending my membership for free for one year. This changes my attitude and experience of TrustedHousesitters.com. So, I can in good faith reverse my opinion and recommend Trustedhousesitters for their services. Indeed, I did otherwise have a very good experience of the service. But remember, shut off your annual auto renewal in your settings if you think you won't need the service for the following year!

Beware of their billing practices!
August 5, 2020
Previous review

I used TrustedHousesitters.com in July 2019. I had one sitter, who was very good. I had no intention of using the service for 2020, as I knew I would not be traveling. I did not know that COVID-19 would hit! My credit card was billed this July 14,2020. I did not discover the charge until August 2 at the close of my credit card statement. I contacted TrustedHousesitters immediately, and got a reply on the 4th via email.(There is no response by phone, and no ability to leave a message.).
When I did receive an email response, I was informed that there is a 14 day refund policy, therefore I was out of my $119. I discussed this further via email with James, Member Experience Executive, who reinforced that their policy was their policy, and they would not be refunding my money: " I am sorry that this is not the answer you're looking for, however, I'm afraid I cannot discuss the refund of your account further.". Member Experience Executive. Right.
Due to the present problem with Covid, I have been out of work since March. Obviously, $119 means a lot right now.
I submitted a complaint with the international Division of the Better Business Bureau, and also informed "James".
A 14-day refund policy, considering that trustedhousesitters communication roadways are very poor, is not only unreasonable and unfair practice, but unusual. Places with a subscription/online business's generally have a 30 day policy.
It is a shame, really, that for $119, this company would be willing to lose a member and the potential other members that I would be generating in the future. I have already informed my friends that use the service about this experience, and they were alarmed. They also did not know about this. Yes, there's a lot of small print these days in our modern lives. This company has ruined their reputation with me because of their small print and small policy. Trusted, definitely not.

I've enjoyed the dog/cat and house sit experiences I've had through Trusted Housesitters. They gather information for the owners to help me make decisions about whether or not a posting is suitable for me and my experience. I think they do a very thorough job - asking the right questions of both the owner and sitter so we can have a good idea about to what we are committing. I hope to have many more pet sitting experiences with this great service in the future!

Wonderful!
August 5, 2020

I've used Trustedhousesitters for 3 years now with nothing but success. The format is easy to set up- and the helpline very fast when there is a question. The people have been great! I've left my home and pets for extended periods with strangers who have become my friends. Finding someone to watch my pets used to be the most difficult part of my vacation plans, but not any more- I would highly recommend this site!

I have been a member of TrustedHouseSitters.com for over 2 years. Easy to use and informative website. Many opportunities for travel with this organization which allows me to be a temporary local and interact with great pets. I feel comfortable that the sites I choose to interview for have been screened by TrustedHouseSitters and are safe.

Received the THS membership as a gift in December 2019 and after first scheduled sit was cancelled due to COVID-19 issues I was a little concerned the membership wouldn't end up being used and THS didn't seem to be offering any extensions or refunds. But a second sit was scheduled and everything went perfectly! Both the THS website and app worked as expected and enabled a smooth sit with a great homeowner (and her 2 wonderful dogs!). The only THS policy I didn't care for was keeping all communication within the THS framework - but traveling across multiple state lines I made sure that we could contact each other directly and weren't dependent on an app - just in case either of us had to make urgent contact. Thankfully no issues - had a great time and would recommend to anyone who loves pets and is prepared to treat the owner's home with respect.

We were planning a long trip and were dreading having to board our dogs for such a long period of time. Even at the best of kennels, the dogs come home worn out, or stressed out. The expense of having a housesitter come here was equal to our budget for our whole trip, so that was also pretty prohibitive. I did a little Google search, found TrustedHousesitters and liked what I read about it enough to join! Wow, am I glad we did! What an amazing premise the company is founded on. Within hours of posting our request for a housesit, we had plenty of great applicants. I was able to choose the best fit for us. Our housesitter turned out to be amazing and everything she and her references stated was absolutely true. We will use TrustedHousesitters from now on!

Amazing Company
July 20, 2020

I am so thrilled to have learned about Trusted House Sitters. I have been paying out a lot of money for someone to dog/house sit without being thrilled with the results. My first experience with our FREE Housesitter/and pet was absolutely amazing. I feel like I have been given a new life, able to get away without going broke doing it. I recommend anyone to try it.

I have been using Trusted Housesitters for 2 years now - 7 different house-sitters. They have all looked after my 5 cats and house really well. You do need to do your own due diligence of course, when choosing the right cat-sitter for your needs. I do phone or Skype interviews and read their profiles carefully. Trusted Housesitters has saved me a lot of money, but even more importantly, has given me house-sitters who are around the house most of the time, and who love pets / animals, which is different than local, paid, house-sitters who usually have a full-time job to go to during the day.

As I have started my membership right before the quarantine hit NYC, I could not use the benefits until the restrictions were lifted.
I reached out for to see if I could extend my membership and the customer service was good while my concern was understood and inquiry responded.
My first sit went well. I am looking forward to using the site again when traveling will be possible.
Thanks and happy sitting

I've been a member for 3 years, and we have had great experiences. We joined to get sitters for our 2 cats since we travel frequently, and when we've had local sitters before we joined, they usually just stop by and take care of the basics but we wanted someone to actually stay at the house. The sitters who have come have almost all been fantastic, lovely people who genuinely care about our pets and home, attentive to detail, and I would be glad to have come back. One or two couples have been a little odd, but still conscientious and no problems.
We have also done several sits in the U.S. and one in Portugal, and had overall great experiences. I will say it's important to thoroughly read descriptions of accommodations and expectations, and if the listing or profile doesn't have much information, ask a lot of questions. Phone or video interviews are KEY on both sides, and trust your gut. We are lucky enough to live in a good location in Atlanta and have a relatively easy sit so we get a lot of good applicants. Some of the listings for sits, you couldn't pay me enough money to do, either because of location, living arrangements, or expectations (or all 3 combined).
I've recommended the site to several people and those that have used it, love it also.
