The company has garnered significant criticism for its customer service, with many customers expressing frustration over the lack of responsive support and difficulties in obtaining refunds. Common complaints include billing issues, inadequate communication, and a perceived lack of accountability for damages caused by sitters. While some users reported positive experiences with sitters, the overall sentiment reflects a sense of disappointment and mistrust, particularly among sitters who feel exploited by the fee structure. The company appears to prioritize marketing efforts over customer satisfaction, leading to a growing perception of unprofessionalism and dissatisfaction among users.

This site provides so many wonderful opportunities and makes it easy with both their online website and phone app!
I love dealing with any customer service people on THS as they solve the issues quickly. Do not hesitate to contact them
I have been using TrustedHousesitters while I travel through the UK, writing up my thesis for publication. The places I have stayed have been extraordinary and the TrustedHousesitters community of people and animals have been wonderful to meet. I think working in the area of animal advocacy, and having experience caring for a range of animals helps to get great house sits. I highly recommend joining for those travelling if you volunteer or work with animals at home and love animal company. Experience taking care of heritage property is a bonus.
House and pet sitting has been a great way for me to extend my travel dollars. The money I save on hotels means I get to be away for longer and do more. I don't mind trading a little of my time (for feeding, petting, sometimes walking) for a comfortable and homey place to stay. I also appreciate the opportunity to "live like a local" rather than in an impersonal hotel. It's important to write or video chat with your hosts before you go over so you know what you're getting into. You should be comfortable with the type of animals they have and be aware of how much care they will require. Cats are easy. Dogs require more time and attention. Horses, chickens, rabbits, etc -- you have opportunities with all kinds of furry friends! (Even non-furry ones, like lizards and fish.) I've completed five housesits -- four in the UK and one here in the States. They've all worked out great!
This is the best way to travel, save money and meet new people! Super easy to navigate website and app. Highly recommended!
Trusted Housesitters worked wonderfully and easily. Having a membership, whether for your own pet/house or doing housesitting, is definitely recommendable. I wish I had discovered this site earlier!
Debs house is so beautifully presented and you automatically feel at home. We really enjoyed our stay here and looking after the kittens and chooks.
Deb was really informative with clear instructions and made us feel at ease and welcomed to her home. The location is perfect, with the tram walking distance and takes you straight to the city centre!
Pip and Paddle Pop were the highlight and we enjoyed their cuddles.
We hope to be back some day soon!
It's reliable and easy to follow. We have completed many house sits now and have always had good experiences. They provide an internal back up service for help and advice should anything go wrong. However we haven't had to use it.
We would highly recommended this website as a fabulous platform to find house and pet sits anywhere in the world. The bonus being... travel with no accommodation costs and you get to mind some beautiful furry creatures
We have just completed our first housesit which allowed us to explore an area of the country we are both interested in. We loved having a beautiful dog for company on our travels.
The service that THS provides is superb. The search and mapping facilites on the site are pretty poor though.
We have now completed 2 house sits and are currently doing another. All have given us the opportunity to spend time in London visiting our son and his young family without being constantly in their space. It gives us independence and enables us to stay in London for longer which makes the cost of plane fare more worthwhile. The duties have all been fairly simple from walking the dog once or twice a day, feeding cats and/ or fish, watering plants - all of which can be done before or after a day out. The home/ pet owners have all been extremely pleasant ensuring that our stay in their home has been comfortable and convenient. The hardest part is taking leave of the animals as we have generally got quite attached to them by the time of our departure! The only negative thing I can say is that there are too many house sitters and not enough house sits. So, you have to pay quite a high annual fee and then you have to spend many months scanning for suitable house sits, then you have to apply for numerous positions before securing one.
Since joining trustedhousesitters we have met lovely animals with lovely owners and made new friends. It is such a great idea which allows pet owners to enjoy their trip away knowing their home and pets are safe and well looked after.
We have stayed in lovely homes with loving pets. Trusted Housesitters helps us to travel at much reduced expense and to become part of a neighborhood. Instead of sterile hotel rooms, we have spacious and private living accomodations. We love dogs and cats but lost our dog last year so we appreciate having pets even though it is just temporary.
We do wish that more owners would offer their car since care rental can be a major expense.
What a great way to explore new areas at a relaxed pace. Can't wait for next adventure.
This was close to where I live so looking for a far away place
We have had some beautiful places to housesit, some not so good. We use them as a base to explore the towns and countryside. We make sure that the pets can be left during the day. Forget the pets that need constant care and cannot be left for a few hours. Just look carefully at the photos.
It is a great way to experience life in a local community instead of staying at tourist places. Add the benefit of being trusted to care for someone's precious pets and having a friend to snuggle up to on the couch. Such a variety of locations and pets to choose from all over the world.
Just sat in Muswell Hill for Di and Chris and the lovely Burmese George. They are a delightful couple and George is great.
In a recent review the person complained about working for free - how much work is involved in looking after animals and maintaining the cleanliness of a house? You choose the house sit, so you know in advance what it entails. I have NEVER REGRETTED any house sit and the opportunity of seeing new places OUTWEIGHS any work. The person complained "it takes you away from your actual paying gigs" - I only house sit in my holidays and not when I work. Once again, it is YOUR CHOICE when you want to do a house sit as you choose the dates. I have dealt with customer service and they have been nothing BUT PROFESSIONAL and extremely helpful. I am PROUD to be a member and I will RECOMMEND them to anyone who is prepared to give a little in order to get a LOT!
I appreciate that trusted house sitters does a background check and provides other ways for a users to verify who they will trust with the most precious things in their lives which are their pets and homes. I have had nothing but a positive experience through the website and on my first few house sits as I travel.
Being a part of Trusted Housesitters opens up a lot of doors - not only the people that you meet as friends who ask you to house and pet sit, but different areas of the country that you were never able to explore before. This is a win win situation for everyone involved. Looking forward to what the future holds with Trusted Housesitters in it.
Answer: Fees are an annual membership for both homeowner and pet sitters (approx $120). With thousands of members, I've not had any problem finding a sitter.
Answer: Hi Jim, when house sitting it is expected that you will take care of your own cooking, etc. You will have full use of the homeowners kitchen facilities. We hope this helps. TrustedTeam
Answer: Yes. It depends on where you live but this couple is beyond question the best and dependable and honest. Debbie and Wil Wilburn. [email protected] Please give my name: Fluffy's mom
Answer: Your accommodations are free. You still have to get there on your own. Since accommodations are often the biggest expense of a trip, it is a great deal. Use code RAF270183 to get 25% off you annual membership fee.
Answer: Hi Caroline, Thank you for your question, forgive my delayed reply. If you haven't already contacted the Membership Services Team (https://support.trustedhousesitters.com/hc/en-gb) I would encourage you to do so and they will help you to get this resolved. Kind Regards, The TrustedHousesitters Team
Answer: Hi Sada, You'll be able to read reviews of the sitters on their profiles. If there isn't anything showing, then this indicates that the sitter doesn't have any reviews just yet. If there is something else that we can do to help, please do get in touch with Membership Services, and we'll be more than happy to speak with you further. Kind regards, The TrustedHousesitters Team
