We've had consistently good experiences with this service over the past several years, and met some great people to boot. The first time we left, it was a bit challenging to trust a stranger with the keys to our house and our beloved dog, but we've had nothing but good experiences since. We feel much better leaving our rescue dog with sitters in our home than bringing her to a kennel where she's in an unfamiliar place. It's possible we're in a more desirable location than most, but we have had multiple people apply to do each sit, and since we're able to read their applications and reviews from previous sits, we choose whom we wish to interview by Skype before offering the opportunity to someone. We've had individuals, couples, and families sit for us for different lengths of time, who are from a variety of countries, and who've sat for us from a week to 6 weeks while we're away. Some of these are people we'd like to stay in touch with. In exchange, sitters get a comfortable, free place to stay.

We have had the privilege of sitting for lovely people all over Australia and have become good friends with many of them. I have used TrustedHousesitters over 13 times. I have met amazing people and built long-lasting bonds. I have been so impressed with the caliber of people that have taken care of my sweet and shy pups. It is an excellent way for sitters to become a local while the pet owner is away. I find that this service is much better even than when I have friends take care of my pups. With TrustedHousesitters, I can find someone that will be committed to my pet's routine and schedule-- you can't always get that with friends or even dogsitting services where they have multiple clients. I've been using this site for almost a year now and have to say it's a great option for a Digital Nomad like me. I've been to some epic parts of the world and have met some very cool people. Many of the house sits I do turn into friendships. I also love pets and this a total no-brainer for someone who enjoys quality time with fur balls but can't get their own due to one reason or another. I don't plan on using another house sit app any time soon. I get everything I need with this one. One thing that perhaps would help is to send reminders to the host that they should leave a Review for the Sitter. We all know how important those reviews are.

I was skeptical when I heard about this service. But my niece had used them for a couple of years and raved about it. Than I had an unexpected opportunity to go to New Zealand for 2 weeks but really couldn't afford to board my dog. So I decided to check it out and WOW. I had a great gal stay at my house and care for my dog and she was fantastic. I included the use of my car for my sit (most people don't) and she took me to the airport and picked me up and the house was cleaner than I left it. And I think my dog more sad to see her go than happy to see me return. Believe it. It is legit!

This is a brilliant solution for people with pets who want to travel but don't fancy shelling out the cash many local house/pet sitters typically charge to stay in their home. It is interesting to discover how many people are out there who are looking for affordable travel opportunities or simply a change of scene in their own community and who are more than happy to take care of your pets and your home in exchange for free accommodation. The reviews of sitters give you some confidence that the people you choose are trustworthy, however I also strongly recommend having a good phone chat with the sitter before you commit, to make sure you have a good feeling about them and that they can address any tough questions or issues you might have regarding your pet or your house. We have only used this service once but the results were very positive and I am inspired to share a strong recommendation with other home and pet owners.

This site has been a godsend for us. We don't have family living nearby, and we don't want to dump 2 big dogs on our nice neighbors. Trusted House Sitters has allowed us to meet people from all over the world and interview them to find the right fit. All the sitters we have chosen so far have been exemplary. Some of the sitters we liked so much that we keep in touch with them and have invited them back to our home. Ask the questions that are truly important to you and you will get good results.
