I booked Spectrum Hotel and residencies in Udaipur on 23rd Dec 2017 for 2 nights. It is written on Trivago website this hotel is 0.2 Km from City Centre. Actually this hotel is 15KM away from City Centre. It takes 45+ mins to reach city center from hotel. This is wrong information to cheat the customer. This information has spoiled my vacation because of so much distance that I had to commute both my days.

Preys on small businesses
December 19, 2017

In November of 2016, after contact with a Trivago representative, I agreed to purchase a Trivago PRO listing for my small, three room bed and breakfast.

On November 17,2017, I received email notification that my PRO listing had been successfully renewed. This new subscription will have a new term of 12 month(s) after the current one ends".

At 2:42 AM on 11/17/17, immediately upon seeing the notice of the annual renewal, I emailed Trivago telling them I did not want to renew. At 2:44 AM I received an email from Trivago Subject: Your request has been received - please do not reply to this email stating they would send a reply as soon as possible.

My refusal of the renewal was one day prior to the expiration of the 2016 annual subscription which began on 11/18/2017.

Unbeknownst to me, automatic renewal was instituted by Trivago when the PRO account was set up a year ago. This is something that I did not and would not have agreed to. Why would anyone agree to automatic renewal with no track record of how effective the first year's service would be? They wouldn't.

Trivago is a horrible, greedy, sneaky company whose main goal seems to be to take money from small lodging owners. I received no business from my first year's listing with them and yet have been forced to pay for another year's subscription. $415.96 for two year's of NO return. Small business owners beware!. DO NOT BE TAKEN IN BY THEIR SALES PITCH.

Good Trust Worthy Site
December 12, 2017

Have booked all ranges on this site from my backpacker trip around Europe to my 5 star resort in Punta Cana.

Highly recommend this site. For hotels it is very good pricing from what I have researched.

Being very stressed out from moving across country & just having heart surgery, the staff took such great care. The place was very clean & had all the extras. Manager was the best. I couldn't be more pleased. A must stay. Tell them Lauren sent you.

I booked a trip thru trivago who has partner with Amoma to Orlando the week of the hurricane. I had to call 3 times to get a rep. Once I got a rep, I was told they have to see if the hotel will refund money due to the hurricane.
WHAT, If the whole city is told to evacuate you should get your money back. The hotel refunded me the amount they charged but this company will not refund their fee. I will never use them again nor trivago.

We went to book a hotel and received an error message saying that the reservation could not go through. Booked again and after receiving the message a second time just booked directly through the hotel website. Go to bank account and was charged twice for the room. When we called to dispute the charges they said they could not refund the money. I'm not sure how these people can sleep at night. We have lost over $800 dollars because of their shady business practices. There are plenty other travel sites to use. DO NOT EVER USE THEIR SITE.

Booked hotel in Bali, searching for 9 days but the actuall booking was for 4 nights. WhenI received the confirmation I was in shock to see they booked me for all 9. Of course there is no paper evidence and they say that for security reason they do not keep the record. I booked for 4 people and only 1 person is showing on confirmation even though it is a junior suite and message soecifies beds for 4 in additional request. Shameful

I live in the most northeast part of Florida on a barrier island. We have been tracking Irma closely and until it took a NNW turn, thought we would be able to ride it out. Today we were advised that mandatory evacuations would be in place and we were advised to leave. Found a spot, albeit 300 miles away, and booked it through Trivago which routed me through HotelClicks.com. Credit card was charged but the email said they were still "processing" the reservation. Rate was $159, but strangely the processing was being done in the UK. Five hours later, an email is received that my reservation cannot be accommodated, however it will be 2-3 business days before my cc is credited. Check back at the site and the room booked is still there but now the price is $246! Needless to say, I did not rebook at that rate. Happily I went to Expedia and found another room, booked it and the reservation was promptly confirmed! If I could I would give Trivago 0 stars!

One month ago I have searched a hotel in Kefalonia, Greece via Trivago. In the list of hotels Trivago offered for the requested destination, I found a suitable one, which had address confirmed ( Poros, Kefalonia, Greece).

I booked this hotel through Booking.com, as Trivago redirected me to.

Yesterday, exactly 3 days prior my journey of 1200km by car, a hotel owner gives me a phone call to agree on time of arrival, and we both realize that the hotel that has been booked is not at Kefalonia at all. It is in fact on the opposite part of Greece, on the island of Poros, 7 hours ( 400km) away from my wanted destination. I cannot cancel my booking, or I would have to pay full amount ( 1040), so I have to travel now to a NON-WANTED destination, I have additional cost of booking another sleep over room along the route, as my voyage is now 14,5 hours drive instead of 10. I have to rearrange my travel times, as I have to start the journey one day in advance. What a waste of money and time, thanks to TRIVAGO. This is a very negative first experience with Trivago.

I've been using Trivago for several years and proceeded up to 50 bookings through them. Never had any issues whatsoever. Alweays smooth transactions. Had a few problems with the hotels I've booked, but that's a different story.

Useful info hoteliers
August 9, 2017

Trivago approached my hotel offering free professional pictures of my property. They said it's totally free. A week after photos were taken, they rang saying they want to show me how to take advantage of bookings with no commission. The lady that called asked me to sit in front of a computer. I was taken aback because of her pushy approach. I asked whether I would need to manage yet another extranet page updating availability and she said no. So I asked how the cheese comes free. It transpired that there's a £500 annual fee. I said no and I was bombarded with jabbering about how much traffic they have generated in the last year and how much I would have saved with their offer. So I said if you ask me to trust you will generate so many bookings for me, generate them and trust me I will pay you. I'll be a fool not to pay as they'll stop generating business for me. Of course, no corporation trust anyone even an ounce, they want other to put trust in them. And pay upfront. Next day they can be out of business and "transform" themselves into a new venture, So I wish them good luck with their deceiving methods to generate business.

Surprised to see so many 1 star ratings for Trivago. Found it helpful several times when looking for a decent hotel deal. Don't travel much, so maybe I'm not as picky.

I do have specific requirements such as an in-room refrigerator and microwave. Trivago let's me filter hotels for both.

OUTSTANDING AGAIN
July 24, 2017

Just came back July 15 after ten days at the Iberostar Paraiso Lindo with a party of 21. This is the tenth time we have stayed at either the Lindo or the Maya. Once again, our vacation was outstanding and the staff was excellent. Just to name a few - at the front desk, Julietta, Christina, and Javier took great care of us from start to finish. In the restaurants, Delfina always treats us like family, and takes care of our every need. We love her. The hostesses, Stephanie and America, always remember us and make us feel right at home in any restaurant we eat at. At the concierge desk, Maya, Carlos, and Patricia made sure that all of our rooms and restaurant reservations were exactly what we wanted. Our maid, Maria, kept our rooms cleaned and stocked, and Gilmer and May with the Star entertainment are extremely friendly with everyone and do a terrific job around the pool and beach. Great food, great staff, great hotel. Already planning for next year's visit. - Robert from Colorado

I have stopped looking into Trivago. Whatever I tried to book, Trivago never found the best price, it just doesn't work. You obviously pay for the commercial bombardment they throw at you.

When watching afternoon tv, we have Trivago shoved on us three times in a row at almost every commercial break. I wouldn't use Trivago simply because of their commercials overkill.

One commercial run at a time and possibly two during an hour-long show would be sufficient. We turn on "mute" to block out these commercials. Enough is enough!

As a small business who had told them we wanted nothing more to do with them (but not in writing) they took a further year's subscription from our credit card. No business has come our way from them.
