Tophatter is a marketplace, but their policy encourage dishonest sellers. The products are falsely advertised, because Tophatter do not care - I reported some problems with perfumes advertised as a brand name, but the bottle itself may have 2 letters reversed or some missing. Tophatter did not even responded and I've seen these products selling all the time. Also, Tophatter would not refund your money if there is some threshold you exceed. Since most of the staff comes from China, and any package with a tracking number would greatly exceed the cost you paid, they request that you pay for the return. Also, no one knows what the threshold is. You could send email to *******@tophatter.com but you would receive the cookie cut email back about the generous return policy of Tophatter, which is the same as junk that sells on their website. In addition, you would not know if the threshold of returns counts returns that never have been send to you.
Another words, if you want to buy a broken earrings for $5 advertised as 925 silver with genuine sapphires, but being some alloy metal with glass, expect develop an allergy or at least some reaction. I don't have allergies, but I develop some reaction to many products after my chemotherapy. I worn earring from Tophatter that supposedly be 925 silver and got swollen red ears! Also if there is a stamp s925 - it is NOT silver! This stamp is used in Chine for silver plated pieces. Does Tophatter care about false advertising of the products? The answer is NO. I ordered grey bag - received brown one, but I cannot return it. Why? Because of Tophatter illusive policy that determines no more returns for me.

I have spent $$$$$ on things and the Pic looks really nice /good but when I receive it, it's not like the Pic. So from now on I will be very careful on what i bid on. Especially jewelry, dog items like coats (order a larger size), and any misc things. Be sure to read what you are buying cuz some times your only getting a PART OF THE PIC.

Tophatter is a great site to get things cheap. But unfortunately some of the products are not what they seem. Sizes are hard to judge since most come internationally and their sizes run WAY small. Overall it's definitely a fun site and you can get some great things.

Answer: Justin you are absolutely correct. I find out the hard way. I had my own auction with nice AUTHENTIC designer items and cosmetics (Becca, Cargo, Smahbox, Too Faced, etc). I lost big time. $40 Cargo palette sold for $10; it cost me $15. Items that I started higher to cover my cost never sold. I still had to pay fees for the item being listed. A $200 Calvin Klein purse sold for $20; it cost me $80 wholesale. Run!
Answer: If you end up buying a few items from the same seller they can do a combined shipment but you rarely get the same buyer items since they only let the sellers sell 10 items a day. It is different for the sellers that have their own auctions.
Answer: You will notice the same names no matter the day, time etc. Bidding against you very often. Is it a coincidence? Personally I don't believe in coincidences.
Answer: Depends on what you are selling. Yes, a lot of items go unsold in the jewelry and accessories categories... as well as others. Coach and Michael Kors and other designer brands, not much goes unsold, because here's the catch - - you pay fees on the starting bid. TH wants everything to start at $1. So you get punished if you start higher as to not get screwed by a low purchase price. Say you buy a designer bag for $120. If you start that bag at $100, you're already paying over $10 in fees. **IF** you can manage to sell it for a profit, there are still the commission and bank fees. If you start it at $1, you're barely paying any listing fees but it might only sell for $80 (or less!). So, less fees, but you lost your ass on the item. It's messed up. Most sellers have put in their time to see if they can make a profit or to see if TH will change, but they all seem to end up leaving. I'm convinced the only ones who stay to sell there are the counterfeit or crappy quality sellers who are buying items for next to nothing, because that seems to be the only way to make a profit there these days. I would go the ebay route if you're looking to sell.
