Tophatter Reviews Summary

The company has garnered a mixed reputation among customers, with notable strengths in its engaging auction format and a diverse range of products that some users find enjoyable and affordable. Many appreciate the responsive customer service, which has been effective in addressing issues and facilitating refunds. However, significant concerns persist regarding product quality, with numerous complaints about receiving damaged or inferior items. Additionally, customers have reported frustrations with order cancellations and difficulties in the returns process. Overall, while the platform offers a fun shopping experience, it must improve product reliability and support to enhance customer satisfaction.

Ordered a couple of braclets from seller (Elite Jewlery Studio), and one of the bangles was missing stones which I notified the seller about. He gave me some email address to send a pic and my order# so that he could help me. The email address was FAKE and now he won't community with me at all. The other bracelet was so cheap looking that I thought it was a TOY braclet for a little girls doll! This site us a scam!

Disappointed
February 28, 2016

In the start things wee a good price. Now the price and shipping is bs. Somehow the auctions are far more than 90 seconds do you pay far more. The service from the sellers sucks and tophatter doesn't help. Don't get this app.

Why doesn't Tophatter stand behind the buyer when the seller has sold a defective product? Received ear rings that turned Green and moldy looking, seller said they would not return my money. Tophatter has no voice other than pending. No communication from them after recent notes to them.
Ebay they are not. Really mad that there could be any doubt at all, even sent pics. They are going to lose customers. Thanks.

Fake jewelry
February 25, 2016

Don't be deceived by the MSRP, it's bull.
"High end" jewelry is made in China and shipped in cellophane bags.
Keep your buds very low.
Shipping costs are where they make their money, pay attention.

Stay away from Edmond
February 24, 2016

3 bad sellers in 3 months on this site! Buyer beware of "Edmond". This seller will not honor the sale unless auction is at an amount she is okay with. When I won a pair of 3D glasses for $7, she refunded my money. Don't buy from the guy who lives in India,. His excuse is always "customs". Third is guy from Florida,. I believe he purchases the items afterwards, takes over a month to receive your item and he will not respond to any messages. I wish I could give you the last two sellers name but I deleted my account. My best advice,. Don't even bother with Top hatter!

Got a laptop from Mv solutions and they told me it shipped and gave me a UPS number. The UPS number was for another item I got from them, they then sent me a fake fedex tracking number that was showing up as untrackable. Email Mv solutions and they emailed me back that they refunded my money. Didn't even ask me if I wanted the laptop. This tells me that they either didn't have the item in stock or they didn't like the price I got it at and so they were not going to give it to me. Emailed them back that I wanted the laptop not a refund, have not heard from them since. Time to get hold of the FCC about this site.

Scammers
February 23, 2016

I fell into the cheap auction trap too... Todays package was the last straw for me. I paid more for shipping than I did for 2 items. 2 separate auctions, but same seller. Guess what? Seller sent both very light items in same package and shipped it by 1st class shipping. Since when does 1st class cost anywhere near 16.00? It doesn't because I am a shipper. I opened a case against another seller and still waiting. The seller never responded to me nor tophatter. I did win a donna karen perfume and it was the real deal. Thankfully! Other than a few bad apples in the crowd? I am happy with everything else I got. But, I dont think I will be going back to much. And why is it, that tophatter does not show any negatives that sellers get? Did anyone else catch that? That right there sux for buyers!

Very disappointed!
February 20, 2016

I bought items on this site many times. Once I bought from MNwatches and revived fake euphoria parfume. After few emails back and forth they refunded my account and I have to send back parfume. They send me prepaid label for $2.31 and when I went to post office to mail it back it was $6.40 to mail it so I had to pay the difference. Few days ago I was gonna bid on the item from same seller and I couldn't do it so I email Tophater support and they told me I was blocked because of negative review I left for MNwatches! What? Of course I wrote review based on my experience and I wrote everything that happened. What am I supposed to do? Give them positive feedback on horrible experience I had. So basically if you are honest and write riview based on their experience they can just block you from placing bids in the future. Don't buy form MNwatches their item are not authentic like they claim to be!

Their perfumes are FAKE!
February 19, 2016

It was my first time on Tophatter. I bid on Chanel No. 19 and Chanel No. 5- so I thought. I won it for $65 each but when I got them, the packaging looked fake! If it looks fake, it IS FAKE. DO NOT EVER bid for buy from this site. They are deceptive and UNETHICAL!

Fun but be careful
February 19, 2016

I've ordered several pieces of jewelry on tophatter. The "msrp" listed on the pieces is bunk - so be sure to keep your bids on the low side. Most of the pieces are fantastic - I really like them and wear them regularly. If you see something you like it will likely come up on the site over and over so be patient and don't overpay.

I also purchased a pre owned coach bag. It was the bag in the photos and came just as pictured. I probably wouldn't risk that again, but the bag was exactly as expected.

However, there are some junk auctions on this site. The electronics tend to be old and used - yikes. The bazaar style auctions usually are a rip off - check Amazon prices if you see anything interesting. I got one cheesy necklace from one of these auctions - luckily I was the only bidder so it was really cheap. Won't waste my time on those again.

I happened upon this site via facebook. I went and saw some beautiful items, and watched the bidding and decided to get in. I spend most of XMas eve on the site thinking I would finish my XMas shopping only to realize I had spent a lot of $$ on a lot of GARBAGE! I start receiving the items via mail right after xmas and by New Years Eve I was very upset. They show items and claim they are valued in the hundreds of dollar's, many of the images are enlarged ( which they don't tell you) and a lot of what they claim is valuable is really JUNK. If you see something on there, do yourself a favor copy the name then search it online. I saw items being sold for $20.00+ that were being sold on eBay for pennies. This is one online site that I would not recommend to anyone! Again I say this is a definite " Buyer Beware" site. And don't bother contacting them. To date I'm still waiting to hear from their customer resolution dept...

FAKE AND PHONY!
February 15, 2016

Be CAREFUL! They are a scam! Bought a designer handbag and have had a headache with them ever since. The girl who sold it color enhanced it and when it arrived on Dec. 22,2015, I knew it was a FAKE! She refused to take it back saying it had a tag on the inside and I must be dumb. HA! Took it to Dooney & Burke and they said the same FAKE. I HAVE 4 OF THE SAME DESIGN BAGs AND WAS BUYING IT FOR A FRIEND. Here is the thing, Fake bags get cloudy because the plastic they use on the canvas is not the real deal. It gets cloudy and changes colors. PLUS, the Bag smelled so bad like it came from the dumpster. Dirty on the inside, not like what she showed on the film. She was dumb enough to leave a crumbled piece of paper in bottom of bag which said, Thrift Store, Purse, $28,00. ROOKIE who probably NEVER really owned a designer hand bag in her life, saw the label and thought she had just bought the bag of the year for nothing. I was just asked on the 10th of Feb, to send one picture to resolve case. (That is after 20 letters that I sent), I responded that same day and did it through Office Depot to keep a record. They are saying now I never responded and closed the case. HOWEVER, my credit card company is on them because they have had so many complaints. They have a phone number, which answers, plays the recording that they are busy and it goes to music. Then it comes on and says," I can't hear you" and hangs up. According to my credit card company that phone is not attached to a REAL ADDRESS.
BECAREFUL! They are just lying through their teeth. They tell you they guarantee the designer bags are real and have original sales ticket. When you ask for them to verify that they act like they never got that email.

This site sucks!
February 12, 2016

I didn't like this site at all. The merchandise is cheap. You can only return something if you refuse it when usps deliveres it. But tell me how are you suppose to know the quality of something unless you look at it. Also, if you cancel something you can't bid for 24 hours after the cancellations; even though my purchases out weighted my cancellations 5 to 1, at the very least. Like they are punishing you. I guess it's good thing they did that because in the meantime I received my first piece of junk! Once I receive the other things I've purchased, from this site it will be uninstalled. If the other things I purchased are the same quality of the cheap necklace I purchased I will be returning everythhing and I will be getting fully refunded I promise you that. I would never recommend this site to any one. It's a rip off and you have to put up with too much bull$#*!.

I wrote a review about Tophatter earlier and how they mislead people by making the jewellery look a lot bigger, so you thought you were getting bigger and better jewellery. On their site, they have various sellers. One of those sellers is a vender called Edmond Inc. On the site, they tell you the status of your purchase, and the tracking number of your purchase. This seller only posted that my purchase was Untracable. Basically, they had lost it. I bought and paid for my item on the 20th of January, I have made 4 attempts to contact them, but they refuse to respond to any communications. Tophatter is supposed to have buyer protection, but they haven't done a thing. So, I'm out my item and my money. Stay away from this site! It is one big rip off, scam site.

Sell & Buy on Tophatter
February 9, 2016

I sell and buy on Tophatter; as far as me as a buyer, you have to be logical and really read the information on the item, we all know that a real diamond and gold ring with a MSRP of $500.00 isn't going to start bidding at $1.00 with shipping at $3.00, right... Stay away. Now if you see a tube of mascara MRSP of $20.00 and it sounds like something you are interested in and it starts bidding at $1.00 and the shipping is $7 or $8, go for it, the shipping is generally enough to cover the cost of the seller's product, what they pay for shipping & handling to them, the fee's to Tophatter (which are listing and commision), the packaging and the shipping to the buyer. That is how I generally determine what to set the shipping at, then anything that is bid is my profit, which could be only one dollar. Or it may not sell at all and I am out the listing fee. But for me it is the contact with the customer's and the getting to know them and take care of any problems they may have with the order and of course to hear the great feedback. I always "thank my customers by name, I send them a note when I ship, when I see the order was delivered, I send them a note to make sure they are satisfied with their item and that it was received without damage and that it was all they expected. I have refunded for an item that the customer was not happy with, it was a full refund and I did not require her to return it, she thought the mascara she bought was a knock-off, she didn't really have any proof that it was, but then again I didn't have any proof that it was not... so I am still selling the mascara but letting people know that there is a possibility that it may be a knock-off and that it is a high quality mascara and to bid accordingly. You need to find seller's that have integrity and you will be very happy with TH.
Me as a seller, I will only sell items one at a time on tophatter, the fees to run your own auction or patner with someone else are just too steep, you would have to lie about the MSRP in order to make a profit and I will not put an outrageous MSRP on something.

Items are over priced and the MSRP's are over stated. Most items that you are bidding on are overpriced and cheap. I have had a horrible experience with one of the sellers (Edmond) whom I bought a cheap hand soap dispenser. Sent him 4 emails as the item I ordered was received damaged and was cheap and no response. Tophatter is also not very good at responding either. I emailed them too and they didn't respond. I finally had to open a case file and they are currently reviewing it. You can find many of these items on Wish.com website for a much better price and shipping is cheap. I would not recommend Tophatter to anyone. Stay away!
