I originally paid for CVNow's 'Career Evolution' package at the end of February. After three weeks of waiting, corrections and re-corrections, I received a CV and covering letter that did not obtain me a single interview in nearly a month. My careers advisor took one look at the CV and immediately pointed out its shortcomings in terms of layout and content.

After complaining in the strongest terms, CVNow did refund me in full. And oddly, a month later, offered to rewrite my CV again. Having read the first draft, it's even worse than the first.

To make everyone aware, CVNow make these specific claims about their service that are just not true:

1) they use industry expert writers. They don't - their CV writers write generic CVs, I've not once been asked what industry I work in.

2) they are based in the UK. They aren't - they are a subsidiary of Talent Inc. that also trades as TopResume.com - an American company using American "resume' writers, US English, US formatting and US phraseology not suited to the UK jobs market.

3) they don't use templates. They do. When I questioned my first CV writer about the choice of font, he said it was simply a choice of which template he used. My second writer produced a document that was structured almost exactly like the first.

4) everyone receives THE SAME critique of their original CV - 'you come across as a doer, not an achiever'. This is purposely written to get your money and assure you that you are dealing with a slick and professional company. The rest of their service is an utter shambles.

Take my advice - do not even consider using CVNow. They make claims they simply do not deliver on, are quick to take your money and slow to produce anything.

After conducting research and reviews on a number of online companies offering their services in reference to writing professional CV's and Cover Letters, I ultimately chose to go with CVnow.

The initial response on my queries arrived promptly and provided me with various options. At any point during the process, all my questions / concerns were promptly addressed. The final product was great and to such a degree there were no further changes required.

I would highly recommend CVnow for all of your CV needs as they are professional in every aspect of the product they specialize in.

Do people just like to complain, or maybe they have false expectations? Reading the reviews here show a real mixed bag, with polarised opinions about CVNow. Well, I'm certainly a happy camper.

I am a professional writer and like many in my line of work find it difficult to edit, precis or cull my own words. Well, Jonathan at CVNow managed to pull my way-too-lengthy CV apart and then successfully reduce 23 pages down to three. He encapsulated my 25-year background working as a contract Senior Technical Writer for numerous multi-national oil and gas companies down to an easy to read, succinct and too-the-point CV.

Well done, and thanks for the capturing the essence of my resume in what I now regard as a user-friendly format. Only time will tell, but I have already received an enquiry from SEEK and I only updated my profile with my new 'words' three days ago.

Being as I was an IT Support Technician who's only had one job since he left school 20+ years ago, it was daunting after being made redundant to have to get in to the world of CV writing. Honestly had no idea where to start. Hadn't even kept my CV up to date during the years I spent at work - which is whole other issue. Thankfully, the wonderful team at CVNow helped my through the process - sometimes with kid gloves - and I'm more than grateful for them. For me it was very difficult to make a professional summary of my experience in my CV. I had the pleasure to work with Mark to get my CV reinvigorated. CVNOW asked me all the right thoughtful questions about what i wish to achieve. After that they assigned Mark to me. Taking my input Mark worked his magic and totally redid my CV. It is now more impactful, concise and well formatted than i could ever hope to achieve on my own.

When I received my first draft back from Frank I nearly fell off my chair. It was wow this is amazing I couldn't suggest anything more to add or remove. This was exactly what I was looking for. Despite an initial delay in appointing my writer, it was smooth sailing from that point onwards
I was allocated Frank who completely transformed the wording of my CV without going over the top, spicing it up or using unnecessary fillers
The initial content was completely my own but the wording and using strong, direct language surely was all down to Frank
It took just 5 days to go through 2 revisions and I'm now thrilled, not to mention proud, of my revamped CV and hopefully it bears fruit very soon

I had spent time with another recruitment agency and thought my CV was pretty good. But the free advice I got from CVnow indicated it wasn't giving the right impression. I decided to buy the "Executive Priority" package which also included LinkedIn material and cover letter.

A slight disappointment was that the "priority" part was not actually part of the package -- you had to pay extra to get the 2-day turnaround. However, the package offered one of the top CV coaches so I was happy enough.

I was allocated Kellen, who was great. Her revision completely changed my CV. It wasn't so much the content, which was still mine. It was the focus that changed, and the much more confident statements made. I initially had some issues with some of the words but with 3 rounds of revisions we reached a very good agreement. The LinkedIn additions were ok, basically what was already in the CV but extracted into LinkedIn sections for ease of pasting into place. The cover letter was useful for its dynamic use of language.

I would give CVnow 5 stars if the "priority" (2-day turnaround) part was actually included in the "Executive Priority" package. Other than that, the service was excellent and the personal engagement from Kellen really valuable.
