The company enjoys a generally positive reputation for its unique subscription boxes filled with a delightful variety of Japanese snacks, praised for their quality and reliable, fast shipping. Many customers appreciate the thematic approach and informative booklets included with each box, enhancing their experience. However, concerns arise regarding customer service, particularly issues related to auto-renewals and a lack of responsive support when problems occur. While many customers express satisfaction with the product, frustrations about billing practices and inadequate assistance suggest a need for improved customer service protocols to enhance overall satisfaction.

I love all the different and unique treats that you can't find here in the states. If you don't opt for the extra $10.95 for the DHL shipping, you'll wait a long while to get your box from USPS. But with the DHL shipping, you get your box in like 4 days!
Wide arrangement of treats. Something for everyone. Definitely recommend. Can't wait for the next box.
Great value, fun patterns, tasty flavours to try. My daughter is excited for the novelty candies that "trick" people. I'm looking forward to the autumn "treats" like creams brûlée milk tea!
Having been to Japan I really miss the vending machines and food in general there. Tokyo treat offers a great selection the only down side is that you will come across something you love but then struggle to get it again. I'm still bitter about trying to taste a limited edition choc mint tea from Kirin. They used to include a small gift like a magnet or pen. This is expensive and only signed up for the Halloween edition again..
For my first time, it's definitely something i would try again! Came with a huge variety of interesting snacks with cool flavours :)
Cheap and get definitely get your money's worth! I also loved how each month is themed. Perfect to share with friends.
Just received my first box and it was so much fun! Definitely more treats than I anticipated. Shipping was super quick too! It's been so fun trying all the items and I even got a few snacks that I had when I last visited Japan!
We love our box from TokyoTreat! It's so fun and exciting to open up a surprise from Japan. The treats are delicious and funny. I highly recommend!
Fun and unique snacks and treats and don't forget the drinks so good. I love all the snacks they have
So good! They send the best snacks and I look forward to getting my box every month. Have been a subscriber for years and they have always been wonderful and responsive to any questions I have
I ordered this last year (2019) and my box took about 6 months to arrive; I vowed never to buy it again. However, I heard they had a new shipping system, so I tried again. It came in a matter of weeks. Much improved! The one MAJOR criticism I have is the quantity of some of the treats. There were 5 treats in my box that were a quantity of 1. One gummy, one marshmallow treat, one grape soda gummy. Not even enough for my family to share and other subscription boxes I receive, at the same price, have much better quantities. They really plan for the family aspect. This box boasts a large amount of treats, but when you realize how small the portions are in some of them, the bang for your buck is disappointing, even more so, when you add the additional money for shipping in, which other subscriptions include.
The October box is phenomenal! I absolutely love everything inside. The box arrived earlier than expected and it's all so cute! The halloween theme was totally fantastic!
Shipping is quick. My package arrived A LOT sooner than expected. Prices seem reasonable for what is offered although the shipping cost may be a bit much at least they do a great job of it. Will continue to be subscribed to Tokyo treat!
We absolutely love our box! The kids and I have started digging in and there is soooo much to try. What a great surprise every month to look forward to. Love the Halloween theme too. The flavours are awesome!
It would be way cheaper to go to a Japanese market and get all of these snacks yourself, if you have that option.
I love Japanese treats and they do a great job of finding the perfect selections! I highly recommend!
I hear others are unhappy with customer support, but I have yet to need support, so I might be biased. Judging only by the product itself, I am very happy. The price is not much higher than if you'd buy these directly in Japan, and it brings me back great memories!
Terribly shady renewal methods.
You'd think that when you pay for a plan labelled "x months prepaid plan", at the end of said x months, you would not be charged.
And yet, Tokyo treat ensures that they can scam you x extra months by sneakily renewing your plan and charge you an extra $100+. Now, you'd also think that they would at least make sure that you get a reminder? Not like we're in a pandemic right now and your mind might not be in the right place, right? Not like you've subscribed to it x months ago and might not keep track of a so-called "Prepaid" plan, right?
Not like they send you marketing email upon marketing email every other week to enter their prizes draws or charge you extra shipping costs (yup, about another $40 unplanned), right?
Well, Tokyo treat will benefit from that, renew your plan for another x months and claim that you should just have read the T&Cs. Yup, that's right. Customer service award winner here - let me right SARCASM in capital letters, just because they might just take it seriously.
When other companies have either managed to keep their standard of delivery acceptable, Tokyo treat has been hiding being the pandemic to charge $5 first and then $10 dollars to the shipping costs of each box to ensure it would "be with me in no time". Well. I got each box almost five weeks after it has supposedly been sent with express shipping - so I guess, after all, I didn't meed to spend all that extra for the "express" bit.
Conclusion? Don't scam people. Possibly, sending a client a reminder that their prepaid plan is coming to an end could ensure that they renew by themselves or even upgrade plans (it is not like you do not have their contact details as you are so keen on sending aggressive marketing so often). Shady renewals like what Tokyo treat does, with an invoice sent at midnight and charge applied then and there is not how you'll keep your pockets full on the long run. This is how you grow a (former) customer base that resents you and writes messages against your practices on Trust pilot over the weekend.
For what it is worth, I will absolutely NOT be recommending. With all the companies struggling this year, I wouldn't be surprised if this one was also going down soon, seeing how they try to grab your bank account details.
It's my first time to purchase in Tokyo treat and I like it very much. I like these snacks. And the new flavor of Lipton drink Crème Brûlée.
Answer: It is one of the worst ones out there. If anything goes wrong they refuse any sort of customer service. No refunds, no placements even if the box never arrives.
Answer: It usually takes days to get a response & only through email. Quite frustrating.
Answer: I had both TokyoTreat and a similar service at the same time, and I consistently found the value and variety of TokyoTreat to be better than the other subscription.
