I'm an engineer with a number of patents issued through corporate legal firms. When I was searching for legal services to support the creation of my personal invention I felt a bit comfortable looking for "value". My thinking was I could help augment a less then top-notch service with some of my own experience. With TTP, this turned out to be an unnecessary contingency.
My team of Jay and Kamal were fantastic. No "less than top-notch" here. Jay would respond to inquiries clearly and within a timely manner. The patent engineer Kamal very quickly grasped the intent of what I wanted to do and helped expand upon and reinforce the invention with great insights. They even pushed to meet my request to get my filing in before the holidays.
I'm now "patent pending" and looking forward to the next time I'll use TTP to support my IP needs.
I love working with them they are very responsive and a great company to work with they answered all my questions and were very professional my rep was Hadison
And if you have a invention I would highly recommend them thumbs up
Thoughts to Paper did a great job. With minimal effort, they were able to translate my idea into a patentable language.
See The big picture and leave room for future innovation. Good to hear thoughts to paper will baby its clients, who may not have previous patent application experience, from the beginning to the application of non provision patent right is granted
These guys are the best. I total pleasure from beginning to end and I am so very pleased with my Drawings. Thank You Guys
I had a great experience working with them. They did a great job and were professional in their dealings. I would especially want to single out Kamal and Hadison whom I worked with and say they were of great service to me.
WORKING WITH THOUGHTS TO PAPER WAS EXACTLY WHAT I WAS HOPING IT WOULD BE - THEIR ENTIRE STAFF KEPT US ENGAGED AND INVOLVED EVERY STEP OF THE WAY - QUITE FRANKLY THE AMOUNT OF TIME SPENT PREPARING OUR APPLICATION WAS AMAZING - THE DESCRIPTION AND DRAWINGS ARE SPOT ON "WOW"!
They were extremely helpful. Pleased how quick the filing process took. Communication was excellent. They were very knowledgeable and answered every question that I had. Definitely will use their services again in the future.
This is the way all companies should treat their customers. My kudos go out to Tien. The service I have received as a customer and/or future customer was some of the best customer service in a long time. The response time on my inquiries was very quick. Once again THANKS..
The filing process was both easy and smooth. Compared to using a patent law firm, the price was more than reasonable. My contact person also took very good care of us. No complaints at all.
Very professiona, l and wonderful to work with, very quick to return all call. A awesome staff Thanks, Thoughts To Paper!
I had a great experience with Thoughts to Paper. Hadison and Kevin were very responsive and went into great detail when explaining questions that I had about their findings. They always delivered their work within the time frame that was discussed and they were very professional. They did what they said they would do, and that is hard to find these days! Thank you!
This Company did what they promised and were very patient with me during our time together on my project. Samuel Chan was really great to work with and he was very fast and thorough in completing my project. I am very glad I went with these people and they deliver. Thank YOU Thoughts to Paper.
This was our first time working with Thoughts to Paper. Hadison was our contact and we couldn't have been more happy with this work and responsiveness. We had initially tried to submit two different patents but after review they did not recommend we submit one of them. As a result they refunded 100% of the money. We greatly appreciated their integrity. We will be using them again in the future.
I love the simplicity & professionalism of this company & highly recommend them for your projects. I most definitely will return with my future projects and look forward to working with the same exact agent & engineer because they now know what to expect with me & I with them. Which is a timely turn around of communications & interactions... thanks Ryan & Kevin!
I attempted to file a provisional patent on my own and found it too difficult. Thoughts to paper made it super easy and I was very impressed with the write up and drawing I got back from them. Looking forward to filing my patent with them in the next year
I been using thoughts to paper for 2 years now and they have done a great job for me so far. The agent Hadison Kadir and the team of engineers are great. I will recommend them to anyone.
I unfortunately overlooked the fact that my provisional patent was due to expire in approximately a little over a week. In a panic I followed up on a heads up email that Tien had sent me back in June to inquire if the options he outlined were still available to keep my provisional patent date of a year ago.
When he indicated that a PCT application would retain my provisional patent date plus add an additional eight months before having to file my non-provisional application, however a PCT application typically takes 6-9 weeks.
He told me they would do everything in their power to complete the PCT in a little over a week. I was cautiously optimistic when I authorized them to prepare the PCT application... well they over performed and got it done on time in a very professional manner. I intend to do much more work with them in the future.
It took about 7 days to produce basic elementary drawings. No professionalism went into the drawings. The product description was even worse. Don't waist valuable time with these guys... Run!
Stephen, 7 pages of technical disclosure plus 9 pages of computer aided design drawings were ultimately produced. I apologize if it did not meet your expectations. I would be happy to discuss improvements we can make to bring the deliverables up to your expectations. Please give us a call, I will contact you directly as well.
I've used Thoughts to Paper for a few years and every time I do, it's a pleasure doing business with them. Tien always gives me solid and straight forward advises. I will continue using them because once I deliver the required info, I can move on to other tasks without having to check if the work is being done. I would recommend them to any fellow business owners without hesitation.

Answer: You should apply for a patent application first. This secures your place in line with the US Patent Office so you can tell the company you pitch to that your product is "patent pending". This way, if that company steals your idea and files a patent of their own, they will be second in line after you, since you applied for the patent application first. A provisional patent application only lasts for 12 months though, and it must be converted to a non-provisional patent app before the 12 month expires, to keep the protection. However, this route of the provisional patent app, at least gives you 12 months to test the waters before you need to decide to commit to a full more expensive non-provisional app. Give us a call during normal business hours and we'll be happy to answer any further questions or get you started.
Answer: Roberto, yes, you could file a provisional application first and get 12 months to figure more details out. However, keep in mind that the provisional application can only protect what you include in the application, the information you have already figured out. For example, if you only have a basic idea and the details are unknown, you could file the provisional application for just the idea without the details yet. However, those details would not be protected in the application because they are not disclosed in the application. Put more simply, you can only protect what you know and put into the provisional application. What this means is, lets say you file the provisional application then 2 months later you figure out some critical details of your invention. You must be careful about disclosing those details you figured out 2 months after filing the provisional application. Because those details were not included in the provisional application, they are not protected yet. We would add those details when you convert the provisional application into a non-provisional application and only then, would those details be protected. We offer a professional level service for the provisional patent application which allows you to chat with one of our engineers. We can help you figure out a bit more detail than you may have so that you file a provisional application with as much detail as we can figure out at this time. This ensures that your provisional application covers as much as we can. Any additional details you figure out later, well put it into the non-provisional patent application when you decide to file that application, prior to the expiration of your provisional application. Hope that helps! Give us a ring during normal business hours and well be happy to help!

Answer: Patenting is our specialty, we are a patent firm with patent attorneys and agents. You would look for an invention manufacturer separately, or we can refer some that we know. However, we don't do manufacturing ourselves since we're a law firm.
Answer: Francisco, we don't assist with building a prototype, please seek other resources. We are a patent firm and can assist with filing a patent application to try and obtain a patent for your invention.

Thank you for for the kind words. One clarification on your comment which is the PCT will extend the provisional patent date an additional 18 months, not just 8 months. So ending date of the provisional + 18 months. Be sure to file non-provisional patent applications in all countries desired, before the PCT expires at 18 months after the end of your provisional application.
