Good for buyer but not sellers. Prices are highly discounted. Some items still had tags on them, never worn and yet this was not mentioned in the description.the seller ends up getting very little money for their high quality items.
Items are super way over priced especially after customs/duties as well, do not buy unless you are able to see the item in person as the pictures and description do not represent the condition of the product very well.
I got a few Valentino handbags which I love. Ordered Harve Lager skirt. Turned out the skirt isn't not authentic,. Send a few email to customer service. Never got reply back.
I purchased a $452 Akris bag with a "no return" policy. The bag on the model looks proportionately larger than does the bag on my shoulder, leading me to believe the bag was photoshopped into the photo and she's not really wearing it. Upon arrival the purse is a much brighter blue than the gray-blue in the photos, and is much too small for my use. Now, I'll be looking for the bag I actually want elsewhere.
I've spent thousands of dollars on the Real Real site and have consigned my Yurman jewelry as well. I am furious to be stuck with an expensive purse I can't use. If I could return it for store credit, I would immediately purchase the larger version of this Akris AI bag on the Real Real. Are you willing to allow me to exchange it? While you'll tell me to "re-consign" the bag, the ROI for me in doing so is quite low, while giving you a second opportunity to profit on this item! I think I'd feel better about donating it to Goodwill.
Due to this disappointing high dollar purchase I will limit my Real Real spending to "throw away" items under $25 and will advise my friends to beware of making high-dollar purchases on the Real Real.
One of my purchases was cancelled without me being notified and if I hadn't written I would not know what was happening.
I successfully received a free return label (their customary return fee is $11) for a dress that was not as described on the product page. Spoke with a very polite Customer Service rep, name: Ever--who sent me a return link to attach a photo--and explained that his supervisor would look at the photo and make a determination. Within the hour, I received an email with gratis return label. Easy, efficient and appreciated!
Return policy starts from ship date not arrival date. This is not enough time
It's super frustrating when you are deciding between items that you order at the same time but don't arrive at the same time. Return turnaround is too short
The algorithm is excluding things it knows the customer is looking at. Tried it for months to watch and seen the difference. When there's a sale the items that were available suddenly are not available. As soon as the sale is over the same items come back into rotation. It's obvious guys! Not fooling anyone!
I sent in a watch worth over $10k and they never owned up to the fact that they lost it. They acknowledged receipt of my item and were supposed to give me an opportunity to approve the listing price before they posted for sale. They did not do this and they posted it for a price I would not have approved and it "sold" simultaneously. This was after more than 2 months of run around about the location and status of my watch and being passed among reps as my assigned one had left the company without notice to me from anyone at the company. They did eventually settle with me for a dollar amount but I would have preferred my watch returned. I will not consign with them again.
I bought something over 11 days ago and it hasn't shipped. I inquired about it multiple times and haven't heard a response.
"Designer" clothing is generally also higher-quality clothing but the prices don't make sense for most people. The RealReal lets you attain affordable, well-made, beautiful clothing. I like that the site displays everything nicely and the packaging is also very nice. I wish the site had more filters, my only complaint.
Items look incredibly good, customers service excellent.
I contacted TheRealReal about an issue and got an automated response. I responded that it did not address my issue, but then never heard back. Instead I keep getting multiple requests to rate my customer service experience. It's getting a bit bizarre at this point
I bought a few shirts that didn't fit. Two of them were not able to be returned but I was able to recommission them for free. The one I did return cost me $12+! I learned my lesson!
I wish the site gave more details on items.
The sizing has really become a problem on the site. Unless you have worn a certain designer before and know your size in that designer, you will have lots of trial and error finding the proper size. The measurements given in the descriptions can be way off and the realreal does not provide designer-specific size charts. I just returned six dresses. Good luck!
I have purchased many items over the years from The Real Real. I have found that many of the items I purchased were different sizes and brands than advertised, and recently ordered a red vest and paid OVER retail price for it (because the price tag was still attached). So my frustration is high with the Real Real to begin with, and then this last order also had a short advertised as small that is actually an XS, and now the return window has passed and I can't send it back.
I bought 2 blazers one Carolina Herrera with very poor fabric it looked good on the picture but it was very used and another one a Valentino blazer looks old too and smells horrible, i will never buy again from real real i wasted my money US230
TRR is a mixed bag, that ultimately disappoints slightly more than it satisfies. First, the positive: in my experience TRR has been quick to respond when the item shipped has a real problem, for example, listed at the wrong size, here, shoes that were size 12 not size 9. Customer service was always polite and pleasant and problem was fixed. TRR has many luxury items that would be too expensive to purchase at full retail in a high end store, so getting an item such as $800-900 suit for little more than 10 % of that cost is wonderful. That said, TRR's best feature is on shipping. While getting one item is expensive shipping, if you get several items, you don't pay more in shipping cost.
The problems I've experienced with TRR leave overall less than satisfied. Again, sizing is a mixed bag. The site itself fails to give the waist size on many of its suit pants-this is simply mindboggling. The site also fails to list amount of material to let out waist, eg, a typical size 36 waist for a 42 regular or 42 short suit should have@2" to let out: TRR never provides that information. The packing is atrocious, and pants can arrive so wrinkled from being haphazardly packed that the pants need professional pressing to remove wrinkles. In my experience, items can take more than two business days to ship: items from Amazon, etc. and even seller dependent shipping from Poshmark and Ebay are typically faster.
Overall, TRR should improve its services more than be satisfied with the status quo. This all merely my opinion based on my own limited experience of the purchase of over a dozen but fewer than 20 items.
Every purchase i have made has been authentic merchandise, ships out fast and have never had a problem or issue where I had to send back. I feel confident in all of my purchases and love that I can buy with knowing that my purchase is real.
Inconsistent with size chart. Measurements described for a given size in description box are sloppy and not accurate. A lot of typos. When I receive item it doesn't fit.
Answer: Do not buy from them! Their return/refund policy is skewed to their benefit. In my case, I bought a Louis Vuitton bag and when it was received it was not in the condition advertised or the photos did not highlight the real wear of the bag and they refused to make a refund or credit. It's their lost because I have since bought many bags on Ebay which offers guarantee of refund should item be faulty or misrepresented. Also, on Ebay you can judge by seller feedback whether the seller is reputable and PRICES are so much less than on the REAL REAL. Their name should be changed to the REAL GREED!
Answer: Hi Samantha. The RealReal does sometimes ask for additional information from customers for a one time security check. Most times, this is for new customers who have never shopped with us before, orders with vastly different billing and shipping information, or are international customers with unverified credit cards. We will ask for some sensitive and personal information for the purposes of verifying the identity of the purchaser but we will not ask for a Social Security Number. Was your father attempting to complete his purchase via Affirm? Affirm is a third party company we work with that offers financing on purchases. If your father was attempting to complete a purchase via Affirm, they do require a SSN for a soft credit check for the loan approval and repayment options. As Affirm is a third party, we do not have access to any of that information so it is secure with Affirm. Of course, no one is required to use Affirm for check out, rather it's just another payment option we offer. Please feel free to reach out to us if this does not answer your questions or if you feel that the explanations provided were not applicable to your situation. You can reach out to our Customer Service Department at (855) 435 5893 from 8am to 5pm (PST). Answer: If you like to be frustrated, disappointed and want to take a few years off your life, then yes consign with the real real.
Answer: I do NOT recommend selling through TRR. Read all seller reviews. This a speed selling co trying to cash in on a quick commission. The prices they assign are RIDICULOULOUS at best. They are not there to get you a good price but a fast buck for themselves. They priced a brand new prada bag with a label on at $625. Minus 20% permanent discount, 60% of that, I receive a whopping $312. After 10 days wait of processing and seeing the prices assigned I pulled my items. I was shocked and even more upset. I rather give the cloths to charity or sell them myself. I think it is insiders who buy the best items at dirt cheap prices they assign themselves. As a buyer just today I receive a wrong item. They were going to research the problem and find the item I purchased, a coat. They sent me a dirty silk top... This is after waiting for 10 days to get the wrong item. This co is just very bad. Customer service is spotty. Some reps are just dreadful. They sound like this is a summer gig and they got no training, you can never speak to a supervisor, none is ever available, Read the reviews and decide if you still want to use this co. If you do, you will be disappointed,
Answer: Hello, We are sorry to hear of your concerns. If you can please send us your order number or email address we will happily research this further.
Answer: Hi Frank, Thank you for reaching out. We apologize you have seen more negative than positive reviews. We would be pleased to advise you on our consignment process and share a little more insight about the RealReal.
Answer: I don't work for The Real Real I am just a satisfied customer, very satisfied! I see all the complaints, and just shake my head. Knowing how people can be, and also knowing the complainers are the ones who write letters, I can only assume they are "out of touch with reality", or POSSIBLY are competitors who are just being difficult to try and hurt the site. Remember, anyone can write anything, that does not mean it is true, nor are ALL the facts being presented! As for me, I am willing to show, and prove who I am, and the great products and service I received.
Answer: This happened to me only one time, and I have sold quite a few items with them. As soon as I received the quote for a pair of earrings. I contacted them immediately and said I felt the price was to low due to various reasons, and they got back to me the next day with an adjusted price. I have never experienced what you are describing above as a bait and switch scenario, and I always check the similar or same items they are selling. I would just call them and ask for the details as to why the other item is higher. Sorry you had a bad experience!
Answer: File a complaint with the US Customs office in your area and your state's attorney general. Also for many types of goods, they will destroy the counterfeit goods and give you a letter stating they have done so. This is ironclad proof for the bank dispute.
Answer: I have returned things with no hassle at all.
